Not gay, but I am an infantry officer. In a great display of courage despite the political costs Truman integrated the military, Eisenhower integrated society. They didn't defer to the courts. They made a stand for policies whose time was ripe and made the bold move. I'm not impressed with the timidness and hesitation with with Obama played this one: a key campaign promise.

It looks like the right thing is being done. The senate will vote this week on whether to repeal DADT, which would be enforced towards the end of the year if repealed

@sondano People in the army, airforce and navy do a thousand other things aside from fight. I'm totally against war but I'm also totally pro-seeking out what people want in a career. These people spent years training, some most of their lives, pushing themselves in ways civilians can only dream of merely to be booted out because they're gay. Imagine going through college with one career solely in mind, entering that job, spending a decade working up the ladder only to get booted.
