  • 87 DAYTONA...hehehe yeah i agree with ya man! Its acrying shame more people who drive rice dont know about these little treasures! They would soon as drive aturboed out HONDUH and get spanked anyway by a lighter much more race prepared SHELBY 2.2 than their frankenstein swappedhonda B18c! hehehe like i said fellas, im a Pontiac guy but learned my turbo knowledge fromthese little bastards (affectionately) and thats why to this day i build my v8's to beat specifically2.2MOPARS because of this. :)

  • Mpfi modded 2.5?

  • DAMN!

  • OO nice numbers

  • Nice dsytona man! I have 2 i will be uploading some vids of mine soon. LOTS of work going into my 90, its got a T2 2.2 out of a 87', gutted to save weight, 3" dump turbo back no cat no muff. When i was runnin 19psi (spike at 21psi) there was verry, very few cars that could keep up. Torque steer was NUTS!!! Im looking for 450whp gunna be a crazy 1 off build! Long live turbo mopars!

  • Very nice... looking very hard at an 88 Daytona Shelby Z right now... had an 86 GLH Turbo back in the day... scary fast little car... made a Corvette driver take his car into the dealer with "something wrong" with it...LOL...

    Great numbers!

  • those cars came stock with a a555 tranny 3.73 posi fwd i had a 89 shelby z with the 2.2 with the super 60 package on it its a shame i lost it in the devorice

  • nice car man. i just picked up a 89 daytona shelby needs work but its nice

  • Nice numbers, and a very nice ride; way more exciting than any Yotota

  • thats not turbo, ur first gear misses........... :p stock turbo still eh?

    i gotta 84

  • thats not turbo

  • Nice setup your car is in great shape, I have a 90 Shelby VNT with the Stage 4 turbo, I haven't done alot of engine mods yet, I'm restoring it right now but I did get my hands on one of the last remaining Shelby designed ECM's for improved spark and boost resulting in an easy 325 HP at the wheels. I'm shooting for 350+ at the wheels once I finish building up my engine and get it balanced.

  • That's some pretty big power at the wheels. I bet that car is a blast to drive.

  • Wow... The last time I did a dyno pull, someone put some DIARRHEA into my gas tank. I am telling you that it ran like shit. :-)

  • These were the real sport compacts. Not these stupid winged out civics and the stupid fast and furious crowd. Damn what a waist of an era back in the 80's I really want to get one of these shelby daytonas and go smoke all these punks in their civics and crap.

  • 50 trim t3/t4 with a stage 2 exhaust side

  • Nice daytona. I have a white 89 with a stage 5 cal and all the goodies with it and a massive t3/t4 turbo. I'm hopin to put down some numbers close to yours.

Are you running the s60 turbo?

  • awesome numbers ,i wish so bad that when i get my on the rollers @ 25 psi i get them numbers. If i do it is serious party time here.Great turbo dodge my friend those numbers are sweet.Hang the dyno sheet on the wall.!!!

  • Nice. Now, go beat on some Mustang GTs. lol

  • I had a 89 red/silver just like this one. I loved it!

  • please tell me the set up you have. engine, exhaust, turbo, ect. thanks!

  • 2.5 with weisco pistons and stock reworked forged rods, t3/t4 turbo, 52 lb/hr injectors, 3 stock intercooler cores welded together, cleaned up ports in head, full 3" exhaust and a shitty calibration. There are a lot more little parts but that's the major stuff.

  • If you don't mind me asking how did you go about ordering the pistons i checked out their site and the only specs they had for chryslers were 2.4 srt's and pt cruisers and 2.0 neons.

  • Comment removed

  • @boostin1989 That is basically my exact set up. ill post vids this spring.

  • 24 PSI seems to be alot, how much psi can you run these safely as a DD?

  • A lot of people run 18-22psi DD 93 pump gas but with alky you can easily get 24psi DD

  • Hm, that's pretty damn impressive without internal work. Thanks.

  • @Cenon2007

Depends on turbo impeller size. Larger turbos run more mass with the same PSI a smaller turbo would.

  • So if the bigger turbos got the same psi as a smaller it will put out more power right?(Kinda makes sense, just making suerehaha). Is this daytona using an after market turbo?

  • @Cenon2007

yes. and I don't know what turbo it is using. But with 310whp and 24psi I would assume so.

  • super 60 or a 40 trim t3/t4 one of the two

  • It's a 50 trim t3/t4.

  • stock to stock shelby daytonas would beat mustangs just look it up in the older car mags... out preform them on road corses by miles... that daytona on the dyno would kill an 09 gt.....

  • LOL ball joints? tranny? hmm sounds like you don't know anything about these cars and looks. I think mustangs look like shit...matter of opinion ya I'm sure Carrol Shelby shamed his name which is why he has a shelby charger sitting in his museum. Grow up mustangs are for 16yr olds whose parents buy them their car. bitch cars who get tore up by 22yr old cars with half the pistons and less than half the valves.

  • Music to my ears! :D MOPAR FTW!

  • What size motor 2.2/2.5 8v? or a hybrid 16v?

  • 2.5 8v

  • My 88 Shelby would run with stock Mustangs all day. It would eat autos, convertibles, and poor drivers easily. I had an 89

GT after the Daytona which was way more fun, though. Wish I still had both!!!!

  • Dodge always had some hot shit to run back in the late 80's. They put that same motor in a Dodge omni/plymouth horizon and called it the GLHS. Fastest damn stock cars Ive ever seen in SCCA. And they got decent fuel economy.

HEMI? we dont need no steeeenking hemi.

  • Nice 310hp with just that.I traded a non running t/a for one puta big greedy turbo some motor work and it dynoed at 350hp!These things r not bad for being a dodge LOL!

  • i heard these cars would kill V8 mustngs in the 80's

  • no tried like hell but they always had a little more. irocs were easy tas to the only mustangs i could beat were the 1990 4.6 5.0s toped out around 142 i could get 137 out of her

  • The mustang didn't get the 4.6 until 1996

  • the 2.2 turbo can take a stock 5.0 mustang

  • Stock for stock?

  • yeah

  • Hard to believe cuz i owned a 89 mustang gt (but it had H/C/I) with all the other usual mustang bolt-on's and it was a pretty quick car. I also drove a shelby daytona (forget the year, i think it was an 89 too) before and a stock 89 gt and the stang felt faster than the daytona but i guess it could just be the instant torque u get in the stang.

  • NICE

  • That;s a bad ass DODGE you got there!!

  • Muy lindo !!!!!!! Gracias , desde argentina .

  • its too bad those cars are fwd and not awd or rwd.

  • ill take it!!

  • Was that in 4th gear?

  • Yep

  • nice, hey i gotta question for ya, im either lookin for a stock 2.2 turbo 2 chrysler car years 87 up, pretty much anything with the 2.2 intercooled turbo setup to put in my 84 california shelby rampage (go to allpar,it exists) but im not sure wether to convert my tbo335 garret or switch the smaller teo4h mitsubishi turbo. id rather find a complete turbo 2 car to switch the wiring harness and computer but thats hard to find in eureka

  • very cool. how much were the pistons? and what turbo are you using or anything like intercooler etc?

  • Pistons were ~$400. 50-trim turbo with 3 stock intercooler cores welded together into one big one.

  • nice solid ride.. nothing too radical which is good for everyday driving.. what did you do to the bottom end if anything.. I've heard that the stock turbo crank and rods can handle quit a bit.

  • Stock crank, forged Wiseco's, stock forged rods that have been ground and polished with ARP bolts. Nothing fancy.

  • Looks just like my shelby! What mods do you have?

  • A lot to list. Main things are 50-trim turbo, ported head & ex. manifold, modified intake manifold, 52mm TB, 3 core intercooler, 88 tbi cam, FM cal, +40's and custom fuel rail.

Oh ya, and a lot of boost :)

  • very nice. need to go myself to dyno to check my daytona

  • Nice #'s

  • is this a 2.5L or 2.2 L

  • It was origionally a 2.2 but I changed it to a 2.5.
