  • The American dream is elusive for Americans, and i think we should first make sure the people born here succeed first before worrying about immigrants.And that "DR" probably is not qualified to practice in the U.S. For some odd reason the world thinks that America owes them the life they dream of.

    Well if everyone follows the same responsibility of getting the usual job like everyone else and work hard like everyone else then there dream will be granted.

    But for some reason america doesn't always want the usual person anymore, it hasn't become a place for just anybody only special people with special ideas, america only wants the smartest and the brightest but they will do anything to say that people of the working class are useless which might be true but it isn't right.

  • The American Dream is a lie. People are unfriendly, boring, and racist. They are like robots. If you don't go to school, you will work very hard for very low wages uneless you are a real American and if you go to school and get a professional degree, you will make good money and achieve your dreams except that if you have a profissional degree, you will probably achieve the same even in your country.

  • We are very friendly, we believe in treat others on how you would like to be treated, and I'm not saying all American's are mean, but some of you can be really rude. Oh ya and student loans that are also held by the government, I'm glad to be Canadian :D

  • I'm glad I live in Canada. Government runned healthcare, yeah it sounds stupid that we pay for other people dying or their prescription's, and yeah it sucks that everything up here costs alot more, but w/e we have good health, and we are friendly, and we welcome immigrants! We welcome everyone, because the more taxes being paid, the more better healthcare for all! We have good schools, which are also paid for by the government, and we also have the best banks! And ya we do say "eh" alot :)

I see many "foreigners" in the Bay area doing just that....LEGALLY. Strive for the American dream but be willing to be a citizen or acknowledge your own country, don't do it illegally.

  • Illegal immigration needs to be eliminated, and legal immigration needs to be drastically capped. Ever see what happens when you put too many fish in an aquarium? Well, America is fast becoming an over-populated aquarium.

  • Why would I blame illegals? Because they are illegal and they dont contribute anything to the US economy, while legal immigrants pay tax and social security that benifits all americans. Why would anyone blame legal immigrants?

  • I think most of them do contribute. They work and spend money, I don't see how that wouldn't be considered contribution.

  • By that standard, every human being spends money for their own existence.

    Even goats and sheep eat grass that costs money, so they may be spending through their owners for their existence.

    Beyond that, what is the contribution of illegals? They take away jobs that would otherwise exist for legal people, jobs that legal people would pay tax on their income for.

    So illegals put legal people out of job and pay nothing to the state in the form of taxes.

  • Many immigrants come from countries where the educational standards do not meet the requirements for US licenses.

    However, there is no doubt that she has a better life here in the US with more freedom and opportunities for her children -- so she has realized the American dream. It is common that it takes several generations for the full assimilation into US society.

  • Yeah, if you're in a profession that would require a license here, then you'll have to "start over", so to speak, so that you can get the required license. That's what happened to the doctor, and what probably happened is that she didn't have either the time or money to do that.

    OTOH, the Indian guy went the entrepreneurial route to success. If you've got that entrepreneurial spirit, then this really is the land of milk and honey for you.

  • She lives in an area that is VERY expensive. Most native American's can't afford to live in that area, 30min from Silicon Valley, in the bay area. If she moved to Idaho, she'd be rich.

  • Yeah, this video is stupid. In California you need two people with high incomes to even be able to afford a house that isn't in the ghetto. However, me and my wife could buy a massive house in Texas or even Oregon. Boo hoo, not all immigrants get to live in Malibu.

  • ilikeicecreamandcake: True. I think this video shows that foreign medical education will not be useful in the US. In my opinions this is a good thing because to allow foreign doctors to practice medicine in the US would result in worse treatment. Other skills (like computer technology) are highly transferable. The conclusion of this video should be "Make sure you get educated in the right field". That's my advice to Americans too, our public education turns out FAR too many useless "artists"
