  • At 05:45 the audio says "...my good woman.", but his lips were saying something else. What did he ACTUALLY say?

  • Ha! "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SOOO!!!!!" & roars the Secretary Bird's clothes off!

  • So the whole animation sequence was entirely pointless since the spell was in Paul's book all along. Ironic.

  • My spells always work better with music, too.

  • the priest is dead now - died of cancer of AIDS - can't remember - but the actor was gay.

  • @Sylvariax I think his name was Roddy Mcdowell

  • I just realized that Professor McGonacall used a form of substitutiary locomotion in the last Harry Potter film!

  • @StarWoid1 I actually thought her line "I've always wanted to do that spell" was a reference to this. I thought maybe she'd been in the running for this role back then.

  • Though obviously part of the story however why does Miss Price not write down the spell in her book like she does with other spells. I mean she even had doubts of it traveling between worlds... I guess we need it for Paul to have his moment in the spot light.

  • Just curious - what are the advantages of the dubbing ?

  • women are always losing things...harharhar. The lion's voice is a disaster, although maybe the English wanted to give a boor an American accent. Quite possible.

They don't make fantasy films like this anymore, with no teenage girls in their underwear.

  • WHYYYYYYYY DIDNT YOUUUU SAYYY SOOOOOOOOOOO

  • was the dubbing done by the uploader or the actual dvd ppl?

  • why is the lion a pirate?

  • 4:40: Interesting how the Postmistress can change her accent! She was Welsh in the first scene, and now she's Scottish!

  • @WorldNews92 The bed has taken them into an alternatre universe where the Welsh postmistress is Scottish

  • "I'll keep it, women always lose things..." Her face after was priceless!!!

  • 4:48 that doesn't sound like his voice

  • The king hitting the bird just reminds me of the King out of Robin Hood hitting Hiss the snake haha also the voice over of mr brown is the same guy who plays Tramp in Lady and the Tramp 2

  • oh no, the nob was stuck

  • your royal star they stolen your royal star

  • His shoes did the very first Moonwalk.

  • 1:42 :P:P

  • the guy from the church looks a lot like Jim Carrey

  • Wow, that dubbing was horrible

They needed better actors who needed to make more sound than just the lines, to slow the film down, and make the footsteps a little more subtle.

If I were in charge of reconstructing this film, I would have left the scenes that needed to be dubbed by other actors out of the film.

  • The dubber for Mrs Hobday sounds Scottish rather than Welsh. I do like the scene, just a shame they couldn't get the original sound. The one for Charlie sounded nothing like him.

  • @liss31d She had a tinge of Indian about her accents... obviously an English Actress attempting the accent because she has mispronounced the vowels which lead to it sounding Indian.

  • bit of sexism at 1:58 haha

  • Stop Gibbering!

  • The King didn't seem like such a bad guy. Granted he seemed alittle angry, but he was very gentleman like, notice how he helped the guy up & dusted him off after he had been run over. Then he had offered to help him put on his coat. He was very kind and formal. But overall i loved it!!

  • The king seems like an okay kind of guy. They could've just asked him to see the star for just a minute so they could write down the spell. It seemed very rude and unnessisary to steal it. Especially after he was so hospitible to them.

  • @Indego84

I honestly agree with you on that. They could have ended on much better terms with the king...

  • @Indego84 U know what, I was thinking the same thing,If I were them I'd take the magic Bed right now to apologies to him and explain the situation and also offer them a favor I could do for him to show my respect

  • @Indego84 I agree

  • traBONER!

  • When it comes to actors in a pinch, Disney has a tendency to go for the cheapest alternatives available. That's why they didn't get Robin Williams to do the Aladdin sequel.

  • lol his knob got stuck

  • i think the priest might have a crush on miss brice o .o hmm... lol

  • @tezziebear1994 Price

  • "Most dangerous of species..A Matchmaker!" XDD i love that some how

  • The Minister reminds me of Jim Carrey

  • who wouldn't want a black scruffy cat like that?

  • @darcman0 a witch of course.

  • What year was this meant to be set, does anyone know.

  • @MeBenHalpin 1940 start of WW2 :)

  • @chrismax18 Thanks for that.

  • @chrismax18 Start of Battle of Britain in World War II mainly :)

  • @chrismax18 1939 was the start lol

  • Churchill did indeed alert the English coast for any Nazi invasions :P Here in this movie, a small infantry of Nazis invade the Dorset coast, but in reality, the Nazis only got far into Britain by airforce bombing.

  • i don't remember the scene between mr brown and mrs hobday. got this on vid but it's not on it.

  • @joshuamlee98 Same here!!!

  • @joshuamlee98 It's from the restored version is why. They didn't restore originally-cut footage to the film till 2006.

David Tomlinson had already passed on by this point, so his voice was dubbed in the Mrs. Hobday scene, hence why his voice probably sounds strange to most.

  • @LilbunUWiz The restoration was earlier than that. I know because I first saw it in late 2004.

  • @Garrettk41 You're right... I forgot that it first came out in 2002 >.> Whoops.

  • Is it just me or does the preacher in the shop look like jim carey?

  • This is my favourite scene/song in the whole film :)

  • Why does Mr Browns voice sound very different in this clip?

  • great special effects!

  • was the dubbing done by disney? the scene where mister brown offers his shoes is missing T_T lol

i hope theres a complete one out there somewhere with the scenes u added! i had never seen them before

  • If the bird hadn't noticed the switch i'm sure he would never notice.

  • "i'll keep it, women always lose things"

  • @2001lateralus Ha, good ol' fashion sexism.

  • absolutly wonderful thank you for uploading this movie i haven't seen it in years.

  • i love the sound effects they used in this film

  • I swear, that preacher dude looks like Jim Carry

  • gosh that voice change is awful. i noticed immediatly. :O

  • WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SOOOOOO?!?!?!!? lol

  • I love cosmic creepers !

  • The whole "everyone takes a turn laughing" after the juggling mishap always annoyed me.

  • I have to wonder - did they airbrush the guy who's dancing in Emilius Browne's (David Tomlinson's) shoes when filming the substitutiary locomotion number?

  • I think so. Old fashion greenscreening....sweet-o!

  • @Dan1988A Looks like they used simple strings to make the shoes move.

  • @Dan1988A Looks like they used simple strings to make the shoes move.

  • @Dan1988A Looks like they used simple strings to make the shoes move. Like marionettes.

  • @Dan1988A the shoes are just 'puppets'

  • whoa that dubbing is so not cool but did you see bullwhip griffin come in after all smiles

  • Angela Lansbury has great legs.

  • Former Theatrical Dancer

  • she has really big eyes! when she is thinking!

    i love her shoes too!

  • "You mean it was there in your book the whole time?" This means that their journey into the book was entirely pointless. I heard that the reason it was there in the first place was to give the animation department something to do.

  • That doesn't mean the journey was useless. They didn't know what the "other language" words were for Paul to identify in the book in the first place.

  • I admit I haven't seen the movie in a long time. I was just going by what I heard.

  • @Buffy8Fan and anyway, how was a 6 year old supposed to know that the words in his book were the ones they were looking for, before they came to the island?

  • Using that same logic, the movie Forrest Gump was pointless because he didn't need to sit and wait for the bus -- Jenny's house was just down the road.

  • i never knew about this movie but its neat.

i really liked the soccer scene. i dont like how this edition has dubbed tomlinsons voice with jeff bennett.

  • what is the deal with that priest? he's creeping on miss brice that whole time!! does he want her house or something?

  • @funnygrl1312 He probably does it to all rich widows or lonely women to make them "generous" towards local churches ...

  • @funnygrl1312 yep, that's why he's always commenting on it i reckon o-o

  • @funnygrl1312 haha, yes that's what I was thinking. Never noticed it as a child :)

  • hey great man : Gypsy switch indeed .... heheee Apachee kapachee perigreen apachee kabacheee . I love landsbury ... but the broom aint coming in play much so far ....

  • Has Tomlinson's voice in the shop scene been over dubbed by John Cleese or is it just me?

  • huh? the shopkeeper/post office woman had a Welsh accent in the beginning of the film and now all of a sudden she has a Scottish accent

  • i think its because its dubbed

  • she was always scottish,

the begining has beed added in to the movie....it's not her voice.

lots of scenes have been added into this film.

  • "Stop gibbering, what's the matter with you?" lol

  • where did the star go?????

  • i love the substitution song!!! favorite song of whole movie!!!

  • the lion actually sounds like a pirate to me .. AHAR hAR :D

  • Someone mentioned earlier that some of the characters from this sequence remind them of Robin Hood. I totally agree! 1:13 is just like the interaction between the snake & the King. That is another Disney classic I haven't seen in years, but it was wonderful!

  • The only thing is...this film was released two years before "Robin Hood"...

  • Bet that'll be the last time the king will ever trust a human.

Does Miss P have short term memory loss? Because you'd think she would have her rabbit spell memorized by now.

  • @graywolf7

i bet she had a problem with it due to fear

  • @graywolf7: Yeah, Miss Price has a really bad case of short term memory loss, but I think it's mostly on that one spell o.o

  • @graywolf7 King and Human r tha same thing ya know

  • the lion reminds me of king arthur

  • hey why the stolet the star? 0:38

  • The star has the words to the "substitutiary locomotion" spell on it that Miss Price needs.

  • yep, sorry i know the dubbing is awful, but i thought that most people would appericate it.

  • Terrible dubbing - BUT very appreciated. Thank you for them.

  • @Wsq4t1tpovatummok - ignore all these grumps! thanks for posting the movie :)

  • @Wsq4t1tpovatummok Yeah about that. I can't help but wonder why it's dubbed in the first place. Did the actors suddenly decide to speak in latin for the extra stuff?

And you're right the extra scenes are interesting I for one don't remember seeing them when I was a child.

  • these deleted scenes are awful, the worst dubbing ever. those accents were terrible and they didn;t even put footsteps in

  • That priest/pastor guy totally reminded me of Jim Carrey then!

  • He does have his smile. :D

  • How did Emelius do the "Gypsy Switch"?

  • He helped the King on with his robe and switched the whistle with the "Star of Astrothe".

  • Can you please tell me where you can find a copy of this? I was looking all over the web yesterday and could not find a copy of the entended version.

    THANKS SO MUCH!!

  • Go to Walmart or Best Buy. You can also order from the Disney Movie Club.

  • Thanks.

Yes, I saw the 30th Anniversary Edition at Wal*Mart once. I was confused about the whole "cut/extended" ordeal, but know understand.

I really would like to get the DVD. I do have it on VHS. (but of course that is the "cut" version)

  • subsitutiary locomotion it must be.! classic!

  • That guy w/ the black hat (I dunno his name) is so annoying. It's also nice to see the deleted scenes.

  • Are you talking about the minister?

    That's Roddy McDawall.

  • Yeah. Well, and I meant the character is annoying.

  • haha redub makes me laugh =)

  • yes i agree that the dubbing in this film is rubbish! but i thought i would put the clips up anyway, and alot of people have found them quite interesting

  • It is possible the video was saved but the audio track was deleted. Since Tomlinson died in 2000 and this was 30 years in 2001 it was perhaps necessary to have someone dub the missing audio.

  • The first movie I saw David Tomlinson in was Mary Poppins.

  • Mrs. Hobday starts the film as welsh - in this scene the over dub sigests shes Scottish and Irish too. infact the whole scene here is awfully dealt with. and is an un-needed scene in the film anyway

  • OH MY GOD! The person they got to dub Charlie's voice is simply AWFUL!! Such a clear and forced attempt at a cockney British accent! "That Mrs. 'obday...'" & "...why 'er?"

Almost all of the original actors actually WERE British, you'd think they could've done the same with the voice dubbers!

  • whoa, the dubbed voice for br. brown is done by Jeff Bennett I believe

  • sorry, but we had to your majesty, no time to explain!

  • the way those shoes were filmed to make it look like they were moving by themselves, could it have been a sort of puppetry thing?

  • y dont grownups ever listen to kids? sheesh

  • In that new scene with Professor Brown at the store with Charles and Mrs. Hobday, the redub is quite bad. They sound more Irish than British, especially Mrs. Hobday. But that's just me.

  • cyberceltic, that's true. They do sound more Irish than English. It's because when the redub was done, David Tomlinson was in poor health (he died in 2002) and I'm sure the actress who played Mr. Hobday had kicked the bucket.

  • wow, I havent seen this in so long, I didn't even notice it was a new scene...and I never did pick up on the Vicar! lol

  • I love how the cat reaction at 2.52! its so funny

  • Since this, "Traguna Macoides" has become sort of a generic magic phrase in Disney Channel shows. Sort of like saying "hocus pocus!" Which is cool, 'cause I grew up with this film, and it's good to see nods to it.

  • If this was made now, alliterate xtian fundamentalists would have a field day.

  • He's accent has gone german again...

  • This is gonna sound stupid, but since when is the king called "Leonidas"? In the credits and trying to look up details for the movie, the lion had no name. I'm just curious.

  • i always have a heart attack at this part

  • "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!!!" I agree, the lion was terrifying, especially in the bit just before he was turned into a rabbit when he came running up at them in a terrible rage!

  • "Mrs. Hobday is the most dangerous of species - a matchmaker!"

    XD Go Mr. Browne

  • this was my fav song for some reason..hahaha
