No he is not.... this man is Ricky Skaggs from OHIO! Mother Dorothy Thompson Skaggs and Father Hobert Skaggs who moved to Blane Ky when Ricky was a young boy! Sister Lynda Skaggs Furgison, Garrold Skaggs......Dorothy and my Great grandfather Estil Thompson were brother and sister..... This is my family. and yes this song was written by Ricky and George Green.
@nathanhyatt1980 If you read his biography on his website you will see he was born in KY not OH and I have heard from his own lips that he was born in Cordell Kentucky.
I used to listen to this song as a child going to church with my family. I had almost forgotten about it, then I went searching for some of Ricky's songs to possibly cover with my band, and this gem might be the one.
according to two different internet pages the song was written by Ricky Skaggs and George M. Green. But I can't find any information on who of them actually wrote the lyrics or if the wrote it together
im a coal miner in Kentucky and u ought to hear this song played when u r 2 miles down. it echos so beautifully and some of the guys join in in the singing. it is truely a beautiful song
I bought a Ricky Skaggs album WAY back in 1983, I was just a kid. Wasn't really a Country fan, well not JUST Country. But man... was it ever a killer album. These guys can play and sing the lights out!! Great post. ~Kenn
Yeah, it used to be on youtube before, but the person who uploaded it suddenly put it as private. I was lucky I got a copy of it before that :-D So I posted it again

yeah and the text still is up to date. Children are still told to be like their parents, whether they want or not.
