  • "I'm surprisingly awake for not getting much sleep"...LOL go gavin go! You looked delirious to me. Love your dedication though.

  • haha . wow the end made me laugh

  • Our sucking the teets of so called celebrities has had it's time in the sun - it is time to move on & create a setting where something else can appear that includes everyone.

  • I am causing myself as a filmmaker as well & would not partner w celebrities in any way on any projects where the fuel of the thing is their brandname & my question is how can we work on large scale projects without the use of "celebrities" & still have the projects arrest the attention and wring tears from the the planet's eyes and be luctrative. Now this is a problem worth our attention IMO. Chasing at the heels of celebs? Not so much.

  • Gavin - how are you any different than all those woman girls who want to meet Oprah? You gotta drop this angle - there is so much more to go for?

  • he diffrent cuz those girls dont really work for their goal... they just want it.. but he is a film maker and he is trying to get to his goal

  • yeas but those girls gravitate to Oprah because she is FAMOUS and RICH - take those things away from her and many people would not want to meet here. Same thing goes for the list Gavin has posted. There are many great filmmakers with the same committment as Gavins who are not rich and famous - we need to start creating some balance and seperating the shallow myth celebrity that seperates us from them and the power of art. Gavin is reinforcing that myth. That is what

  • That is what I am taking issue with.

  • Its the people that have inspired me the most... nothing to do with rich and famous... and Dan Mirvish? Harry Knowles? These are not super rich and famous people.

  • Gavin, do u mean Dan Mirvish of the Mirvish family? He is a very rich/famous individual & I would think that Harry Knowles would be a no brainer to meet. I understand the attraction to people who are in the public eye, I was not spared being born into that culture, I just think the notion is bankrupt. I cannot invalidate u for having desires & wanting these things, but it is just stargazing & keeping the $ revolving around a few faces IMO & perpetuating 1 of the chief obstacles to great art IMO.

  • I don't want to meet Oprah... and if you mean, Ellen I suggest you watch my Day 006 video ... or Day 069... I don't want to meet Ellen either. I'm paying it forward for my friend's charity

  • Gavin, I did not say u wanted to meet Oprah. I asked "how are u different than all those woman girls who want to meet Oprah?" She is a celeb who rubs elbows w T. Cruise/B. Pitt & who gives away cars to boost her own profile/wealth (I am being cynical here I admit that!) Take away here celeb status/wealth & do u think people would want to meet her? Not that she is not accomplished/hardworking & making a contribution but she does not make any more difference then any of the other 6 billion of us.

  • Opinion accepted. I think she still stands for hope for a lot of people... and nothing wrong with having a little hope in her... now Terry Fox... or Nelson Mandela may have bigger accomplishments but that doesn't mean Oprah can't inspire many people, woman, or give out a general attitude and message of pay it forward.
