Noooooooooo! Why has syfy stopped producing this amazing series?? I always ejoyed looking stargate and stargate atlantis, but i have never been a fan. But i became a fan of SGU; and I want to know whats happening to eli and to the other guys now!
I think if season one had started better, the show would still be on the air. Unfortunately, it got off on too bad of a beginning and turned off too many people early on. I stopped watching after about 6 episodes and only came back because I was bored. The second half of S1 and all of S2 were exponentially better than the first half of S1. So sad to see it go. It probably spells the end of the SG franchise, at least for the forseeable future. RIP Stargate.
My level of pissed-off-ed-ness that this show was canceled is to the point where, if I fond the "SyFy" exec responsible for giving this show the axe....well, I might just burry the bastard alive.

I never thought another science fiction show could rise up to rival Star Trek itself, but I've grown to love this show so much and I am so angry and disappointed that they haven't renewed SGU for a third season.
It's such a fantastic show, I've loved it from the start. It began like an amalgamation of BSG and Voyager and went on to be superior to both.
WE WANT MORE, DAMMIT!!! And change the name back to "Sci-Fi" while you're at it!!!!
It's been confirmed that the movies will not happen, nor will a third season. The only hope now is a novel or comic continuation like other cancelled shows have got. So I'd encourage everyone to get on Facebook talking about it and Tweet your asses off too, hopefully enough buzz will get them made!

Out fan group now gets 800-1000 new members a day and people are returning their cable boxes. Soon Syfy will beg the fans on its knees to save their reputation. But this will be a long term sing of at least a year of work. We must never stop believing in our goal because thats the day we let Syfy get through with its unbelievably rude behaviour!
I just did the math between all 25,000 of us. If we want to give them incentive, we got to pay 80 bucks an episode each...lmao. Honestly if we pulled off the first fan pool in history to get a show back, that would be sick, but I don't know if I can afford $1500.00 bucks a season. rofl.
@Ashmarsden It's all about consolidation though. You need all those viewers to be together on it. Cancellation of a show is not always to do with low viewers, they could have political problems with the storyline it self thus they kind of want it to die. Same thing happened with firefly, after that many DVD sales it was clear that they actually had issues with the message of the story it self. If you get all those viewers sending in a dollar, then you have something.
@MedicRap In summary, you need them all to be actively and financially breathing life back into the show. 25,000 isn't going to do it unless that number is able to raise dollars that hasn't been seen before. If fan's raised like two million, that would end up all over the news...and we would probably get insulted for raising money for a space show as opposed to cancer, lmao.

I love the entire Stargate Universe (including the show itself!) The original movie, SG-1, Atlantis, and they were all AMAZING! Then comes Universe in which it completely defines what it is to love Stargate; I feel like I know and care about these characters more than I have on any of the other series. I've never watched it air live, I purchase HD from Amazon video so I can watch it at my leisure, in supreme quality, with no interrupting adverts. I hope they are counting those views.

Although I love SGU, saving it is NOT just about saving that one show, it's about saving ALL gate travel. The network that used to be Sci-Fi has changed to SyFy and it's a change for the worse. No in fact its not. The behavour that surfaced with Katarina have not occurred in other disasters. Greek, Turkey, Thailand and many other countries have had huge disasters with weather, tsunamis etc... but like Japan and unlike USA their social structure did not break down just because the government could not enforce it.
Also this is not a show about the general population that misbehaved after Katrina but about elite troops and first class scientists.
I love SGU but honestly the thing that annoys me is that SGA was cancelled for it only for SGU to be canned before it was even given a chance. In my Ideal world Atlantis and Universe would both remain on television. I've been watching Stargate since I was 10 when SG-1 was first shown here and am not sure what I am suppose to feel knowing that the SG universe is about to end. Sci-fi or rather Sy-fy (insanely moronic name change) shame on you. The casts and crews of all 3 shows I thank you.
I have the complete dvd collection of every gate-season (SG-1, SGA and SGU) and every gate-movie (the original one, the ark of t... and continuum) produced until now, and sure i will buy SGU season 2 dvd box and every other (i hope many) gate-movies will be realized: but i really hope, in my heart, that will continue SGU because i really like it (and i have a bad feeling: that the end of SGU will be the end of every "gate production": series, movies: i hope this will not happen, but is possible
@jamon1234 Ideally that's what we'd get, but according to the producers that's not even on the table at this point. The best we can do is buy the series DVD or Bluray sets and buy the iTunes downloads as they come out and convince MGM to go ahead with movies.
@TheZalvi One of the co-creators is in talks with MGM about making DVD movies, the funding for which is dependant on good DVD sales for the series box sets. If enough fans but those, we'll hopefully get movie(s) made.
Damn I love this show, I wait for it to be on iTunes. Let some other station pick it up. Id rather have another season then movies. I prefer long-term story lines and in movies there are no room for them. Just look at the SG-1 movies that are plainly horrible.
They act like unprofessional and uneducated human beings (=children). Elite soldiers and top scientists do not act like that. When lives are on the line people push personal stuff aside and solves the issue at hand. Rednecks may argue like children, but not professional soldiers. People DO become "noble" and work together when disaster strikes. They do not act like children and argue and fight. Look at the stuff happening in Japan right now. People do NOT fall to primitive behavior.

@Faldegast Japan is a very rare culture. I would bet my life that a similar situation in any other country would end with looting and theft. Just think about Katrina. When you put a bunch of upper tier full of themselves people in emergency situation they are going to argue because they all think they are right. You can see over the development of the show the have found their place but for people to work together right off the bat just naive thinking. Primitive behavior is to be expected.
Mind transfer is not new. Mind-transfering stones is actually from smallville. Cross-galaxy mind transfer like the stones probably is new, but thats from SG-1 not SGU. Time travel was used so often by ST that its silly. Recharging in the sun was used in farscape. Mind uploading is well explored, probably best known from Tron and The Lawnmower Man. Relations forming and dysfunctional relationships is nothing new. Mutiny's and incursions is explored in most scifi. Strange anomalies is not new.
@Faldegast Who said anything about being new? These things are explored in SGU where other series simply use them as cheap plot devices, like the stones in SG-1.
What is the "provoking scenarios" you find in SGU? That obviously is so deep that entire episodes have to explore them? I have watched all episodes on (3x speed) and didn't find any such scenarios. I am not saying that this is true for all episodes, there have been a few that is somewhat interesting. But that does not compensate for the fact that most of the series feel like filler material.
@Faldegast The stones are probably the most thought-provoking sci-fi technology we've ever seen in Stargate, if not the genre in it's entirety for a very long time. On top of that we've seen time travel, recharging into a sun, consciousness being uploaded into ships, relationships forming and others breaking down, mutinys, incursions, the cosmic microwave background radiation mission. There are too many things to list.
What "adult and realistic" way? Scientists that act as teenagers? Military personnel that act as mall cops? It would have been realistic if the passengers had been a visiting high school class. I am sorry but i find the bildungsroman style of smallville to be far deeper, it even goes deeper then the philosopy101 of Matrix. The fact that you are talking about "superhero archetypes always saving the day" tells me that you haven't seen smallville.

When lives are on the line, people argue, they get scared, they do things they wouldn't normally do. I'd much rather have an adult take on human interaction than have all of the characters be noble and work rogether. Real life isn't like that, people aren't like that.

SGU like BSG has to much filler stuff. I had to watch both on fast forward. And to those claiming that SGU/BSG are "deep" or that SG-1/SGA is "shallow" then please explain? How is doing something for 30 minutes makes it more "deep" then doing it for five. Look at smallville, it manages to have intense action and real depth without having to sacrifice anything. Of course you WOULD have to give the series a decent budget. SGU simply did not have the budget it needed to have good scripts.
@Faldegast Uh, what are you talking about? SGU had a bigger butdget than SG-1 or SGA, I'd have thought that would be obvious by the higher production qualities. The show is deep because it portays the stuggles of the characters in an adult and realistic way, exploraing the trauma of thought-provoking scenarios properly, rather than having superhero archetypes always saving the day.
I didn't really liked it. They left out the stuff that made Stargate entertaining. It's not getting canceled without a reason. It's just nog populair enough.

i find it ironic that some people wanted that sgu would be cancelled just that they would make season 6/movie for atlantis but because sgu might get cancelled the stargate: extinction aka atlantis movie and stargate: revolution aka sg1 movie will be delayed for a long time. @jackhammer10101 Having characters doesn't make you a character drama. BSG was very much plot driven and action orientated. Repeating the tired complaints of bitter Atlantis fans doesn't make them true, by the way. The fact that so many of them can't seem to know the difference between character drama and soap speaks to their ignorance of TV in general, though I suspect they only do it as a slight anyway.
Careful...some of us went to film school at LACC and UCLA and took classical, contemporary and comedic acting for many years in Los Angeles with private acting with Bobbi Chance, the same coach that worked with Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Anthony Hopkins etc..

It's been confirmed that the movies will not happen, nor will a third season. The only hope now is a novel or comic continuation like other cancelled shows have got. So I'd encourage everyone to get on Facebook talking about it and Tweet your asses off too, hopefully enough buzz will get them made!

@01000001011100100111 There will be at least three more seasons trust me. We fans are stating clear every day, that a movie is not acceptabel. Out fan group now gets 800-1000 new members a day and people are returning their cable boxes. Soon Syfy will beg the fans on its knees to save their reputation. But this will be a long term sing of at least a year of work. We must never stop believing in our goal because thats the day we let Syfy get through with its unbelievably rude behaviour!

I just did the math between all 25,000 of us. If we want to give them incentive, we got to pay 80 bucks an episode each...lmao. Honestly if we pulled off the first fan pool in history to get a show back, that would be sick, but I don't know if I can afford $1500.00 bucks a season. rofl.

@Ashmarsden It's all about consolidation though. You need all those viewers to be together on it. Cancellation of a show is not always to do with low viewers, they could have political problems with the storyline it self thus they kind of want it to die. Same thing happened with firefly, after that many DVD sales it was clear that they actually had issues with the message of the story it self. If you get all those viewers sending in a dollar, then you have something.

@MedicRap In summary, you need them all to be actively and financially breathing life back into the show. 25,000 isn't going to do it unless that number is able to raise dollars that hasn't been seen before. If fan's raised like two million, that would end up all over the news...and we would probably get insulted for raising money for a space show as opposed to cancer, lmao.

I love the entire Stargate Universe (including the show itself!) The original movie, SG-1, Atlantis, and they were all AMAZING! Then comes Universe in which it completely defines what it is to love Stargate; I feel like I know and care about these characters more than I have on any of the other series. I've never watched it air live, I purchase HD from Amazon video so I can watch it at my leisure, in supreme quality, with no interrupting adverts. I hope they are counting those views.

Someone needs to make a new channel for the actual good shows out there like this.It is syfy that has cancelled every great show on their hands.This show has more potential then just about any show they've ever had because It has a history from stargate atlantis and stargate sg-1.It is ever-changing.I want someone dedicated to help keep this alive because this might be one of the last great shows we ever see because of syfy.

Although I love SGU, saving it is NOT just about saving that one show, it's about saving ALL gate travel. The network that used to be Sci-Fi has changed to SyFy and it's a change for the worse. Don't believe me? Visit SyFy's facebook page and you will see that it speaks volumes on how the fans feel about this! Write into MGM and also the office of SyFy's programming in NYC. Let them know just how much you wish to keep the Stargate open! Happy Easter! :D

No in fact its not. The behavour that surfaced with Katarina have not occurred in other disasters. Greek, Turkey, Thailand and many other countries have had huge disasters with weather, tsunamis etc... but like Japan and unlike USA their social structure did not break down just because the government could not enforce it.
Also this is not a show about the general population that misbehaved after Katrina but about elite troops and first class scientists.

I love SGU but honestly the thing that annoys me is that SGA was cancelled for it only for SGU to be canned before it was even given a chance. In my Ideal world Atlantis and Universe would both remain on television. I've been watching Stargate since I was 10 when SG-1 was first shown here and am not sure what I am suppose to feel knowing that the SG universe is about to end. Sci-fi or rather Sy-fy (insanely moronic name change) shame on you. The casts and crews of all 3 shows I thank you.

I have the complete dvd collection of every gate-season (SG-1, SGA and SGU) and every gate-movie (the original one, the ark of t... and continuum) produced until now, and sure i will buy SGU season 2 dvd box and every other (i hope many) gate-movies will be realized: but i really hope, in my heart, that will continue SGU because i really like it (and i have a bad feeling: that the end of SGU will be the end of every "gate production": series, movies: i hope this will not happen, but is possible

@jamon1234 Ideally that's what we'd get, but according to the producers that's not even on the table at this point. The best we can do is buy the series DVD or Bluray sets and buy the iTunes downloads as they come out and convince MGM to go ahead with movies.

@TheZalvi One of the co-creators is in talks with MGM about making DVD movies, the funding for which is dependant on good DVD sales for the series box sets. If enough fans but those, we'll hopefully get movie(s) made.

@Faldegast Japan is a very rare culture. I would bet my life that a similar situation in any other country would end with looting and theft. Just think about Katrina. When you put a bunch of upper tier full of themselves people in emergency situation they are going to argue because they all think they are right. You can see over the development of the show the have found their place but for people to work together right off the bat just naive thinking. Primitive behavior is to be expected.

Mind transfer is not new. Mind-transfering stones is actually from smallville. Cross-galaxy mind transfer like the stones probably is new, but thats from SG-1 not SGU. Time travel was used so often by ST that its silly. Recharging in the sun was used in farscape. Mind uploading is well explored, probably best known from Tron and The Lawnmower Man. Relations forming and dysfunctional relationships is nothing new. Mutiny's and incursions is explored in most scifi. Strange anomalies is not new.

What is the "provoking scenarios" you find in SGU? That obviously is so deep that entire episodes have to explore them? I have watched all episodes on (3x speed) and didn't find any such scenarios. I am not saying that this is true for all episodes, there have been a few that is somewhat interesting. But that does not compensate for the fact that most of the series feel like filler material.

@Faldegast The stones are probably the most thought-provoking sci-fi technology we've ever seen in Stargate, if not the genre in it's entirety for a very long time. On top of that we've seen time travel, recharging into a sun, consciousness being uploaded into ships, relationships forming and others breaking down, mutinys, incursions, the cosmic microwave background radiation mission. There are too many things to list.

I am sorry but i find the bildungsroman style of smallville to be far deeper, it even goes deeper then the philosopy101 of Matrix. When lives are on the line, people argue, they get scared, they do things they wouldn't normally do. I'd much rather have an adult take on human interaction than have all of the characters be noble and work rogether. Real life isn't like that, people aren't like that.

SGU like BSG has to much filler stuff. I had to watch both on fast forward. And to those claiming that SGU/BSG are "deep" or that SG-1/SGA is "shallow" then please explain? How is doing something for 30 minutes makes it more "deep" then doing it for five. Look at smallville, it manages to have intense action and real depth without having to sacrifice anything. Of course you WOULD have to give the series a decent budget. SGU simply did not have the budget it needed to have good scripts.

The show is deep because it portays the stuggles of the characters in an adult and realistic way, exploraing the trauma of thought-provoking scenarios properly, rather than having superhero archetypes always saving the day.

Just because you can't comprehend other people's views on this matter does not mean they do not exist.
I like SG-1, I like SGA and I like SGU. While I think they shouldn't have cancelled SGA in order to "replace" it with SGU ( I think they should've run side by side ) I do not berate SGU for it. If a show I don't like gets cancelled I'd think it's a bummer for the fans, not say "haha, suck on that". Did people do that when SGA was cancelled?

Repeating the tired complaints of bitter Atlantis fans doesn't make them true, by the way. The fact that so many of them can't seem to know the difference between character drama and soap speaks to their ignorance of TV in general, though I suspect they only do it as a slight anyway.

Careful...some of us went to film school at LACC and UCLA and took classical, contemporary and comedic acting for many years in Los Angeles with private acting with Bobbi Chance, the same coach that worked with Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Anthony Hopkins etc..

everyone portrayed on SGU....i mean...no cute girls no angsty greer or scott ...no chloe or lt james that wants sex...just REAL middle aged scientists and military.....all 40 year olds like SG1 and SGA.....will
