  • anyone who thinks this is a great movie has never read the book. To call this The Count of Monte Cristo is a travesty. There are so many inaccuracies I lost count. This may be loosely based on the book using the same character names and such but this is definately not true to the book. Why change so many things in the movie? The book is outstanding, why change it?

  • abbie faria is my favorite character in this movie and the book

  • I love how the Priest always said "Thank you" when he got his soup!

  • Stupid movie buffers so slow

  • Great movie

  • I wish I had a mentor like that priest!

  • gayyyyy

  • The music playing at the start of this clip reminds me an awful lot of The Elder Scrolls for some reason.

  • DUMBLEDORE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't believe in right or wrong, I don't believe in choices, I don't believe free will, its all luck. You either have badluck or goodluck & I believe you have rights or limited rights. I believe in limited rights, for example I feel like anyone has a right to do whatever they please, but if they do something that pisses them off I believe the person who violates them deserves to be killed off. I think revenge is a good thing if the victim no longer has much to live for.

  • @MrDNK1981 Why did you say that?

  • In the shit bucket

  • ...dumbledore took his shirt off.

  • Whats a gendarme?

  • @joshll2007French Police

  • Lol at 3:32 he puts out the flame with his breath, it should have gone dark

  • Dumbledore was really just practicing escaping from Azkaban.

  • I cannot find the beginning song anywhere on the internet...abbe feria is what its called

  • No no Dantes, you're doing it wrong! In order to truly miss the water droplets you must make hissing sounds as well!

  • it's like going to prison and meeting chuck norris

  • @SkaffBear Hahaha yeah right Chuck Norris what a joke! More like Bruce Lee, that man was jam packed with philosophical knowledge n wisdom

  • 4:56 is Epic!

  • "Edmond: There are seven thousand, five hundred and nineteen blocks in my walls. I have counted them many times.

Abbe Faria: Ahh! [laughs] But have you named them yet?"

  • I think i would rather be locked in these kinds of prisons and slowly slip into insanity than be locked away in our American prisons and rapidly be raped and shanked.

  • @300daysandnights would you rather spend your years in a prison where you can get out, have a walk see the sun and eat better and have a bed and a toilet, or would you rather rot in a dungeon with no view for the sky and the floor would be your bed?

    your choice is stopped

  • @ghamdi070 and then continued, because I still don't want anything shoved up my B-hole. :)

  • @300daysandnights

belive me american prisons are like vacation compared to this one

  • @anchEYes @ghamdi070 I would rather be in this prison because you're alone. once you lose your sanity, it's cake. I'd rather be depressed and alone than sodomized. I feel like suicide would be easier here too.

  • @300daysandnights I'm pretty sure there are prisons like this in the US, but they are reserved for only the highest charges.

  • @300daysandnights you've obviously never been in prison in the US... Hell i'll take federal prison over most vacation spots lol

  • @des696969 You don't get buttfucked on most vacation spots. well, physically anyways.

  • @300daysandnights you only get buttfucked if you're in a high security prison and weigh like 110 lbs rofl it's such a stereotype saying that you get raped in prison.. you can get raped anywhere

  • @des696969 you can't get raped if you're by yourself.

  • @300daysandnights who says hes by himself? hes with the guards.. and they beat him with a whip... you don't think they would ever rape him? rofl

  • @300daysandnights LOL, rapid rape!!!!

  • The music playing when this vid first starts reminds me of The Elder Scrolls.

  • If he didn't know how to read or write, how did he write an inscription on his wall?

  • @malvolo5111 it was already written on the wall, he just retraced it over and over

  • @malvolo5111 the prison warden read it to him in the scene where he received his first beating.

  • @malvolo5111 it was there when he arrived...he just continued carving it.

  • anyone who has actually read the count of monte cristo would be personally offended by this film.

  • He burn the letter!!

  • 3:33

The flame went out and was re-lite when camera went back to him.

  • Priest the original Mr.Myagi.

  • And seeing as Marseilles is surrounded by geological layers and stone from the early cretacious, the bottom layers and thus the rocks of the island of If of which the top layers of cretacious sediments have been eroded, are Jurassic layers. Which means limestone. Which is a very fragile and brittle sediment. They could get aprroximatly 1,300km per year. In other words, they would've been free within the month. But i see how Dumas would need some reason for 13 years of d'If.

  • @AngelBiLove perhaps they took a long time because they had to dig with their plate...

  • 3,5 meters a year, when you can spend ten hours a day, perhaps more, digging, all year around. It must be marble!

  • He's interpreting Newton's third law wrongly though. It is a misnomer, one could put it. The action-reaction does not happen after each other. It happens at the same time. Anyone who has seen this in physics class shall know this.

If two cars collide, car q will touch car p, at the same time vice versa happens. My fist touches someones face at the same time as someones face touches my fist. Action and reaction. At the same time. Not after each other. Do not misinterpret, simpletons!

  • kinda looks arragon

  • i r now officially yakapo!!!!!

  • @jesseabrown1993 and Marcus Aurelius the true emperor of rome (Gladiator)

  • @wolfboyak1 You mean the real movie or the one that the americans stole, just like how they steal japanese movies and other movies, from country with even older and larger film industries?

I once watched tv on a boring saturday. And on it was an old old film about rome. It was like gladiator. No. It was gladiator. word for word, scene for scene. And in that one, the real one, Richard doesnt play Aurelius. (which is too bad)

  • @AngelBiLove the one with russell crowe

  • i love the old priest guy! he looks so funny at 6:13

  • ITS SPEED ! 6:22 ! speed of hand. pssssh. speed of mind. ! lol.

  • Question- this is chateau d'if! Where the heck are they getting all these tools?!?!?!?

  • @XcrazyphangurlX Read the Book, in the book Dantes was able to keep a big pitcher and broke its handle off and used it as a chisel

  • He said he hadn't seen the sky in 11 years, but he has a window in his room. Director fail.....

  • @AtheistPatriot1 he means like clearly edmond also has a window but he needed to hold up the priest for him to see the sky

  • @AtheistPatriot1 it's high up;)

  • @AtheistPatriot1 not really because he did ask Edmund for him to stand on his shoulders

  • talking about the worst jail on earth!

  • Love Richard Harris

  • what's the name of the sound when edmond looks around in abbe farias cell and sits on his chair? it's really good.

  • @NIsForNice Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Dr. Bill Deagle, Leo Zagami, Jordan Maxwell and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well.

  • @augustmaquet ehhm, what???? I just wanted to know the name of the song...

  • @Youraveragehijabi It was there before--he just deepened it.

  • if he couldnt read or write how did he write "God will bring me justice" on the wall

  • @Youraveragehijabi it was already there on the wall before dantes imprisonment, It was described by the warden that "God will bring me justice" as a motivation for past prisoners.

  • @makmak Ohhhhh hahahaha i guess i didnt pay attention lol

  • @Youraveragehijabi It was there when he entered his cell.

  • its so funny that he says god isnt real after the ridiculous miraculous providence of that dude just popping into his cell through the floor, a dude that seems to know everything in the world, somehow has books hidden in jail, is willing to teach him AND also knows the whereabouts of some hidden treasure. now im not a religious person or anything but to me, it seems like someones prayers got answered XDDD

  • @Shmoofles "The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them."

~ Albert Einstein, letter to Sigmund Freud, 30 July 1932

  • @Shmoofles Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.

  • @Shmoofles This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.

  • @Shmoofles No, it seems like a lucky coincidence. God isn't real. Perhaps we as humanity can accept this scientific fact, and advance because of it.

  • @MrStig691 Or you can stop enforcing your beliefs on other people and enjoy the video

  • @MrStig691 You have yet to find a proper definition for God.

  • So, if GOD is no more real than Priets treasure, that means GOD is real... right?

  • OMG!! Dumbledore is teaching Jesus physics! That just blew my mind.

  • LOL! 7:06 reminds me of something Greg Proops said on Whose Line Is It Anyway.

"I'm ready for your parry if you're for my thrust."

  • Question...

wouldn't the other prisoners hear Edmond and the Priest talking under their floor?

  • @JustinBlottin

    hahaha. yeah. point taken.

  • 3:30 candle fail lol

  • teach me...or dig alone :)))

  • 5:10

Wouldn't (and in my opinion, shouldn't) he be using the metric system

  • Love how happy they are when they get that rat. :)

  • God is no more real than your treasure priest,

    Perhaps......

    LOL, nice

  • cristo is like a great Republican, not like the cowardly dems

  • @souther I'm going to need an explanation there... I'm not American and do not care either way what your views are on politics... but how the hell does it relate to this movie whatsoever?

  • @romba11 it doesn't relate to the movie. i was just simply making a personality comparison.

  • @romba11 it doesn't relate to the movie. i was just simply making a personality comparison.

  • with this kind of food - one plate of soup each day - he would never survive 13 years.

    but nevertheless a wonderful movie.

  • @kalisanna48 actually people did survive on that shit. and he gets food 2ce a day in the book, bread and soup and a little meat

  • @kalisanna48 and in the book they put the dirt out a window. and the old man doesnt initially want his help. the old man just gives up completely when he finds out hes screwed up, but monte cristo persuades him to start again

  • define Economy: ... translation. dig first money later

  • Abbe Faria is so beautiful. Thumbs up if you would die for a chance to gently stroke those silvery strands

  • Is it just me or does the priest have a cell at least three times bigger than Dantes? The deluxe model? Maybe first come first serve

  • amazing.. :3

  • "God is no more real than your treasure, Preist "

    (smiles) "Perhaps" lol

  • i love this movie, it never gets old, its always inspiring

  • thank you

  • continuity error.. he blows the candle out in the tunnel and when he comes it it's lit.. great filkm though.. love malta cheers

  • lol who noticed "Mercedes" on the trap door when they caught the mouse.

  • @gulfmen86 it was a rat, not a mouse

  • @gulfmen86 Probably good motivation in a prison like that.

  • @gulfmen86 Mercedes is a girl name

  • @shmuntik yeah i know... mercedes is his GF/fiance's name...

  • @gulfmen86 yeah i know and somebody might not new that mercedes is a girl name and the guy that made mercedes he named after her doughter. or grand doughter dont remember..... this movie is the BESt

  • Up! Up! I want that seat hahaha

  • He always play teacher, a smart philosophy.

  • @HeenimTH go with your strengths :)

  • Man Faria was about 1000x more badass in the book than in this movie.

    -AHMAD

  • man... where does this guy get all this stuff in PRISON???? A candle, a knife, books, fire... it seems *almost* civilized

  • @redshark618 the book goes into depth regarding that. Just shows how condensed and, overall, different the movie is from the book. Terrific film, though. Love it.

  • @ValiantFaith the actor died

  • Get the rat! GET IT!

  • Teach him the knife old man.

  • Let me preface this by saying I like this movie a lot. But as I watched it tonight i couldnt help but think that this would be an easy dungeon to escape from. It helps the plot by having edmund educated in literature and weapons. But i mean when the guy who distributes the food sees the priest is dead, he opens the door and comes in alone and unarmed. the priest cuts his hair with some type of sharp tool... why not fake death and kill the fucker and escape? there seems to be 3 guards total

  • @nbramsey1 I agree. It seems like it is ridiculously easy to get the guy to open the door. When their plates weren't presented when it was time, the guy immediately opened the door and came in to see what was up. Two trained men could have easily taken him.

  • @nbramsey1: In the book things are different. More importantly, in the book Faria specifically addresses this the first time Edmond meets him. The thought of injuring or killing a fellow human being dishonorably like that weighs far too more heavily on his conscience as a heinous abomination against the laws of Providence (ie: God).

And he makes Edmond swear to neither suggest such a thing nor attempt it himself.

  • even guys in russian prison get visits. Its horrific to think that all the years he is in prison he is less than a mile from his beloved mercedes. The chateau dif lies in marseilles harbour.

  • it takes a stretch inside to see whats truely important in life.

  • @swastikausa

i guess in your case it'd be being a racist neo nazi fuck.

  • @vakaholic It sure would.

  • Sorry, can't dig. Have to go name all my stones.

  • @patrckhh20 lol

  • what is this music called? please help me know... someone

  • Comment removed

  • all these french people with british accents... shouldnt they have french accents?

  • @MrMacGamer its just a movie, what do you want?

  • @MrMacGamer technically no, because if you think about it, the characters are supposed to be french so we're supposed to imagine that they are speaking french in which case if you're french listening to french you would not hear the accent, so it makes sense for english people to hear them speaking with english accents, otherwise it'd just sound like french people speaking english. not sure if i explained myself well there, i hope you understand what i mean :)

  • Naked Dumbledore! AAAHHHHH!

  • 2:49 sounds like mortal combat

  • Comment removed

  • man , Dantes got an MBA in that prison LOL

  • @Floralin LOL yeah, his secluded prison schooling is ALOT better than the usual public school system you find these days lol.

  • (1 of 2)Wow, the legendary actor Richard Harris in an obscure but remarkable role. He was an Irish actor, singer/songwriter, theatrical producer, film director and writer. He's probably best known for his role as King Arthur in the the 1967 movie Camelot. He played Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies made in 2001 and 2002.

  • (2 of 2)I read he didn't want to take the role of Dumbledore because his health was in decline but did so because his 10 year old grandaughter threatened to never speak to him again. He also had a top ten record hit in Britain and the U.S. in 1968 with his recording of the Jimmy Webb song "MacArthur Park." Rest In Peace Richard.

  • 2:50 mortal combat!!!!

  • they look like 2 crazy homeless people

  • how did that guy get a chair and candle privileges?

  • @juliawuliaxoxo you do NOT...want to know

  • @juliawuliaxoxo i think becuase he is a priest thats why

  • Man...I'd be angry at Napoleon and seek revenge on him. That would be awesome!!!

  • @BloodStainedBane Yes, I too woould seek revenge on British accent Napoleon :)

  • @maddy666216 lol... that damn British accent Napoleon is the source of all the world's problems!!

  • what is the music called in the beginning of the clip?

  • My question is, why couldnt they just dug through the side of the cell, where his window was. It would have been a few feet, then they could have just waited till dark and jumped off

  • It really pisses me off that everyone calls this guy Dumbledore because of the role he did in the two Harry Potter films. It's like a huge slap in the face to such a great actor.

  • @seriall1337

No, not really. You need to lighten up and stop creating idols. ^_^

  • @HumanStrategy yes really. And he's not my idol.

  • @seriall1337

Isn't that Dumbledore from Harry Potter?

  • @seriall1337 its not a slap in the face because he is a brilliant actor in harry potter which is a forever growing phenomena which he would have been proud to be a part of. Harry potter stars legendary actors like Emma Thompson, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman Gary Oldman and Richard Harris it is no insult to his name.

  • @fredst02 The slap in the face is that people look at him as the character, not the real him. But nevermind, I don't care anymore. :)

  • is the guy abbe faria or richard harris the guy who plays dumbledore from harry potter?

  • Why does everyone call him Dumbledore the character? His name is Richard Harris!

  • @seriall1337 Silly question. Many people have difficulty remembering names, some people forget the names of people they just met, do you expect people to remember the names of people (actors) they haven't met? And lets face it, while Richard Harris is a legend he wasn't overexposed in the same way other actors are. People are going to associate him with a face that they recognize most. Dumbledore is one of those faces.

  • @sylvernights As I've said before, I don't want to continue arguing on this.

  • amazing movie!

  • Blows out his candle at 3:32 without disturbing the light in the tunnel
