Thanks dude you help me out alot of ppl say you can't put sand wit fresh water fish & you have the same fish as me kool by the way I have a 36gl bow tank
***** PEOPLE *** adding sand? Rinse the sand before u put it in ur tank. Walmart decor sand works great! just put iit in the bucket and rinse over and over till it doesnt cloud!! THEN add it to ur tank. and make sure u stir the sand up once in a while or get fish too!!!! FYI
@Amblii sorry for the late reply, : ), my algea eater killed my tiger barbs one by one, i was upset, i need to start everything over again 0.o but what i did was
1. put sand at bottom of tank, placed a bowl at the bottom so that when i poured water in didnt disterb the sand as much.
2. once the water was in, i allowed sand to settle befor you turn on filter. 3-5 hours for good clearty, it will be cloudy for a long time tho, even when it settles.
@csgamer1 u can actually pet the bubble bar completely in the sand. sand is so thin and light underwater that the bubbles will cause small holes in the sand which allows the buble to rise. and plus, it looks a lot better
i got it from a local pet shop, i belive it was called aqua terra white sand, i rearanged the tank again looks alot better, and now its lets cloudy : O its cloudy once you put the sand in for a couple days, this was the day after i put the sand in,
i bet thats easy to clean aha, :) i like the sand on the plus side its not hard to clean, just siphon the debre out , but with sand you actually see it instead of the rocks where you cant really see and and grows after awhile,
Don't sharks get like, 2 feet long though? They can't go in a 20 gallon? Oh wait, the kind you have is a red tailed shark, and those get like half a foot I believe.
oh yeah man ,! its a really cool thing looks 100% more natural. yeah i give you all credit tho ahaha! thanks lot for the help i wish i had a better camera, thats ok, i love it !
Thanks again : )
pretty easy to keep clean, theres quite a bit of debre now but i clean it soon !
also is my tank over crowded? im kinda scared the shark will get alot more aggressive as well as the chines algeas, they get pretty huge, i might need to get a much smaller algea eater.
Nope, not overcrowded. You can definitely add some more fish if you like. Just do it slowly. Adding some bottom feeders will help you keep the sand even cleaner.

how do you have a bubble bar with the sand?
Doesn't the sand get lifted away from the bubble wall and expose the bubbler?
TheAquaSpecialist 2 years ago
yup once i put the bubbler in i burried it in the sand , but did not burrie the top part, so the top part is showing,

I like this look, it looks natural vs the green and blue gravels you had before =o)

Oh yeah, that's beautiful. I like no substrate in tanks tho. =)
