@tazmn23 hamstrings are hip extensors as well as hip flexors. This is a hip extension exercise and is a serious hamstring smoker if you focus on driving your heels into the pads that are holding them.
@molonlave123 Train them twice a week. Train your quads with reps no lower than 10 for now, and hamstrings no higher than 10 for now and you should see a difference within a month.
@Alpatt97 i read somewhere that converse are in fact great to work out in because they are just a rubber sole with not a lot of cushioning in them. to much can throw you off balance. i read it in muscle and fitness i think.
this is a fuckin joke... how many exercises/sets are u gonna do.... and almost none of these are "mass"building workouts. maybe strength building workouts
What is the thing he is on for the glute ham raise and horizontal back extension? I have been looking for one to add to my home gym but cannot figure out what the name of it is. I used one in high school and it did wonders for my legs and even abs when doing situps on it.
@hollywood4488 I dig his kicks. The flat soles are great for balance while lifting. I rock a set of black chucks with pinstripes in the gym. Gotta lift in style.
His form is just fine. He achieves full range of motion in the knee and hips, which is essential for joint health. For most people this means that the knees get past the toes a bit. Not a problem.
This is a great video by the way! I wish I had access to a reverse hyper and glute ham raise.
Legs too wide on good mornings. My legs are maybe 6" apart if that, and I bend real low. I get a wicked stretch, and when I get tired, I can feel my hip flexors working in too.
If you take a wide stance you'll work the adductors, semitendonous, and semi-membranosous more, which are the inner two muscles of the hamstring that are primarily used for hip extension. You don't take a close stance with good mornings. With romanian dead lifts you would though.
Great exercises for overal leg strength man loved the video... BTW do you split legs? anterior and posterior chain? one other thing is what exercises should one follow to hit the hamstrings for strength and how often to avoid overtraining? Thanks for the great post..
I don't split up anterior and posterior. Most of the athletes I train either perform full body workouts or upper / lower splits. If it's the latter, I usually train 1 lower body workout a week or every 5 days.
You'll get hamstring strength from squats and dead lifts. All the other hamstring exercises shown in this video are assistance exercises, which means they can increase your squat and dead lift if done at the right time and performed correctly of course.
you bend at the knees more with a clean grip deadlift. With the romanian, the knees are unlocked but don't bend anymore or any less. All the movement takes place with the hips.
Maybe, but the video is about great leg exercises. Regardless of what size someone's leg are, they're still the best. Do you think a guy juiced up on steroids is a realistic role model for a guy training naturally?
No. I agree with you but you are trying to market the concept and human beings appeal to certain things naturally. Would you allow Pee Wee Herman to demonstrate a Ferrari? No. I would have preferred seeing the muscles that you are trying to effect
nice lots of new ideas. relli helped and to ChetCampbell72 no not really beacuase this is more realistic most people watching this video have just started weightlifting so its nicer not to put a huge steroid packed muscly dude to mabye not make them feel like crap? Anyways really good video
maybe its just me but wouldn't it be a little more convincing if they used a really big buff guy to demonstrate that these exercises build mass...this dude looks like a regular guy who doesn't lift weights....i'm just saying it would make more since to me.
Big doesn't equal strong, he could very well have a high strength to bodyweight ratio, you never know.
Look at the Gracie's in MMA competition's past, look at some of the competitor's in Olympic Weightlifting. Female's weighting 60 kilos and putting up 3 times that amount over their heads multiple times.
You just never know.
Plus, if he is the owner of this business, he wants to get the interest off everyone, whether to teach them or to make business which is totally understandable.
great video man, but u really only need squats and deadlifts to build overall mass and power. ANd maybe a few other big compound movements for the upperbody like Overhead presses and chinups but the squats and deadlifts are the key to getting big and strong fast.
Mass and Power and two different animals, you are either going to go after the neuro-system or the muscular system. I do agree though that the exercise's you mentioned are a quick line to those type's of strength.
No, that's not all you need. You must train the assistance lifts as well, and unilateral exercises that help stabilize joints, which also equates to stronger dead lifts and squats.
This info is straight from some of the best strength coaches in the world. Do your research. You have one video up that you didn't even make and it has nothing to do with training. Do you argue with your dentist too since you brush your teeth?

your knee is coming too far forward on the lunges. The knee should be right above the foot to avoid added stress on the knee.

These lifts are great for both mass or power. It just depends on which end of the neuromuscular continuum you're choosing your reps from.
