A wonderful collection of cards! They are all gorgeous, esp. Mary Pickford! We love her here. Saw a wonderful Bio film of her life in the theater earlier this year. I was wondering, do those cards, has as shine or shimmer to them depending on the light source they are in? You mentioned they're made of a "silk" substance.
@PlayIt4MeAgainSam I've got some of other early movie trading cards that I'll be doing videos of plus I've done quite a few already. Yes, the fronts of the cards are some form of material but they are backed with card or paper. I think its the protective plastic pages that they are in that reflects the light.
The cardsare in beautifull condition for being nearly 100 years old. Mabel Normand was very ambitious being one of the first female screenwriters, producers and directors.,along with her other accomplishments.Btw, was there any card set for the royal family?
@bookcartpeddlerny Thaks for popping by. Yes, quite a few sets were done of the royal family. There isn't a great deal of demand for that subject, except perhaps at the moment, and I'm not really into them myself.
@creamofcardstv Yes,there's nothing like pictures of the early stars of the silver screen. They had the glamour and charisma.Especialy when they were photographed in black and white.:)
@805ROADKING Mary Pickford cards are very sought after, along with Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. It's probably the most expensive card in the set.
I have no interest in Trading Cards, but found your video very informative and interesting, and really well produced. I feel compelled to go watch some of the other ones now :) As for my fav Movie Star, thats a toughy, i used to be a huge fan of Laurel & Hardy once, even started the first Welsh 'Tent' (appreciation club) so i guess i'm gonna go with them.
@DdraigGoch1966 Thank you! I love Laurel and Hardy also. I think their stuff is timeless. Yes, I'm a bit crazy about card collecting but many of these cards reveal some interesting bits of history
Beauful cards! Very interesting that these cards were printed on material(silks) and backed with paper.
