Try playing the game as an Order healer. The speed with which Witch Elves kill you (every time) is incredible.

Certainly, Healers shouldn't be able to overcome everything, but when an Archmage will always die to a Witch Elf inside 5 seconds, with no variation on said result, is just pathetic. The other Order healers generally fare little better.

I mean, sure, healers should die to a concerted attack. But when the WE doesn't even have to try, something is definately wrong with the balance.

Paul Barnett is retarded. Without healers people last not more then a few seconds in this game. If he thinks the hybrid healers can seriously keep their party/warband up and still do damage hes the dumbest person in the world. I personally play a Zealot and no offense Paul but just sitting at the back doesn't happen in this game. Quit nerfing healers its ridiculous.

Certainly, I agree that healers need to stop being nerfed (particularly the Archmage, not that it wasn't broken to begin with).

But Paul is not a programmer. He is, essentially, a salesman. It's his job to hype the game, and at the time, the intention was to have these classes as he advertised. With that said, they obviously lost their way a bit, but you can't blame Paul for that.

Blame Mark Jacobs if you must, but Paul doesn't deserve the flaming for what he was told to say.

I'm a Disciple of Khaine, the destructions "melee" healer, and all I do is sit in the back healing. If I try to go to the front I'm dead in 4-5 seconds without being able to move the entire time, whoopee.

And he's pointing out one of the things I adore about this game. After playing games like RO where I was lost without people because I was a healer and couldn't kill anything...

If you like to play healers just don't buy this game. Healers on this game are only good for getting blamed, they can't really heal anything. Its a RDPS vs RDPS game, much like an FPS game.

True, perhaps. But those same classes have the capacity to DO damage. Certainly they're not on par with a DPS class, but the healers in this game are generally quite hard to kill (and often win 1 v 1).

To my knowledge, no, there are no classes with the crossbow as their signature weapon. However, in the TT rules, Dwarfs and Dark Elves have access to them, so I wouldn't be surprised if the NPCs of those races had them.

I don't like that there are no dedicated healer classes, and the classes seem like they will be very narrow in scope.

When is the game coming out?

In point of fact, there are healer classes. However, they are encouraged to do other things beyond healing in order to make the experiance more round and fair (especially for the single-player types).

To my knowledge, the game is coming out Q3 2008 (some time between July and September). That's the best I can do right now.

Actually, I'm going off what the devs are saying, and I think that they're in a better position to know than any retailer.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they do delay it to Q4 (and early Q4 at that; they'd want any launch bugs out by Christmas).

All that's left is to wait and see.

Well you're obviously (no offense) not paying very close attention to the developers. Mark Jacobs and several others devs post at Warhammer Alliance, and we get a lot of the inside scoops. Mark explicitly stated "fall" which he also explicitly stated "fall is between 9/21 and 12/21". Furthermore, retailers are showing early October / late September release date, including the EA store themselves. We also know that the release cannot be August by Mark as well. I could go on and on. Trust me :P

I only really play Healers and Medic's in games unless it's CS or Halo or something.

I play these classes because I'm addicted to teamwork. Why would you kill the reason I play these games lol.

Paul isn't saying that there will be no healing. In fact, I'm planning on playing the Archmage, a healing class.

That said, however, healing won't actually be as necessary in this game IIRC. There will be no one-shot kills, no three-shot kills. So, what does a healer do when he's not healing? Twiddle his thumbs at the back?

In fact, they've actually built in better heals if you do damage. The shaman has WAAAGH!, the Warrior Priest has Righteous Fury, etc. You just won't healbot. Thats all.

How it works, is that there are healing classes in the game, but on their own, their heals are very weak. But by attacking enemies, and building up their morale, they can use it to bolster the effectiveness of their spells.

So it's not that there are no healers, it's just that they can't stay in the background and spam spells, because the gameplay mechanics force you to get in to the fray and actually fight in order to make your heals viable, that's what he means. No more healbotting.

LMAO. Spot on healing analysis. Though healing can be fun with the right mods etc, it more depends on the class. Druid and Priest healing is good times - Pally healing sucks donkey balls. Getting praise is nice, but if you're playing the healing role for it, respec for life.

Healing is not as fun, you heal others so that "they" have more fun..the main thing that you enjoy as a healer is the attention you get, everyone sort of sucks up to you so you come heal them. So id say people who enjoy healing so much are the attention seeking kind of people. People who want to be "loved" and "cherished" by peers.

The game mechanics actually work so that you don't actually need to be healing all that much. This is because the game is designed around PvP/RvR gameplay, so that it isn't too hard for players to go out and have some fun on their own in PvP and PvE.

Of course, that isn't to say that you're not expected to heal, but rather that healers will have plenty of free time, so they might as well spend it nuking, attacking, buffing and debuffing. For some classes, its a core part of their mechanic.

Those moments come once in a while but most of the time you are behind and dont even get to see the NPC's the group is fighting. A DPS person has more fun moments because those moments do not depend on specific situations, its all the time when you have those big crits and good combos

DPS all you do is stand there, hit the same 3 or 4 buttons and try not to aggro and when the shit hits the fan, they usually just run around and DPS the wrong mobs.

He says "Those who just want to play medic... we're not the game for you"; that means you WON'T heal 100% of your time. For the Warrior Priest, Disciple of Khaine, Archmage and Shaman, the best healing REQUIRES the deployment of DPS abilities (both melee and ranged). As for the Runepriest and the Chaos disciple, their focus is more on buffing and debuffing rather than damage dealing.

And different things are fun to different people, I'll have you know

Their game mechanics are built on building up points in combat before spending them on a big spell or attack etc, so if you're a healer at the back not doing anything you'll not be able to build up any points to use your cool healy spells.
