Amazing song, makes you wonder how many other unfinished classics are lying around in their archives, for me this is better than anything on their last 2 albums, it has that effortless flow to it that marks out genius from mediocrity :)
U2: é inexplicável o que se sente ouvindo essa banda. U2 é tudo, é a trilha sonora de nossas vidas. Não há palavras para descrever o que é o U2! Viva U2!
Please if your on this post board to compare U2 and Coldplay, then leave, they are not the same, they share no similar history or relevence for that matter, U2 is legendary and Cold Play is a great fucking band, thats it give it up.
Massive fan of both U2 and Coldplay but Coldplay came out with the better album last time out so I would say Coldplay are the better band at the moment. It's not that No Line On The Horizon was a bad album. It was their best since Zooropa but Viva La Vida and Death And All His Friends by Coldplay was fantastic. But overall no one can touch U2. They are that good. They are the best band since The Beatles in my mind.
@mattressjedi Because you'd certainly know how to change your style through 3 decades to still come out as number 1, right? The Stones, Who, all of them on greatest hits tours. U2 is still making new songs and hitting the charts after 3 decades. I'm sure if you started a band you'd do all that too. I'm positive.
U2 had mor Fans that coldplay in the World u2 are and they will be always the best band on the World!! sorry but coldplay are Childrens in compration with u2
This is what a good U2 songs do. They evoke a feeling or a mood. Edge's notes are simple in terms of form but make no mistake, every note has a purpose. He fills in every gap with beautiful melodic notes that touch your emotions.
This song is beautiful (especially that piano outro), and it's even better considering that this is actually just a B-side that wasn't released nor finished until now. Other bands would die to have anything like this even as a lead single.
Ana are you spanish????, in terms of comercial success don´ t agree with you.
Creatively coldplay doesn´t copy to u2, maybe to radiohead, anyway the time runs for all the groups. look at the wikipedia, coldplay has been number one in 36 countries with the last album while bono is trying to save africa. U2 only got this 23 years ago with the joshua tree. Brian Eno is a great producer like showed with david bowie
@wisenumb sorry but coldplay are better that u2 now. the u2 fandom don´ t accept critics with facility. U2 have been a huge group and it has my respect .
@jorgpabl31 hahahahah... you're clearly out your league on this. Coldplay ripped off U2's sound and has yet to even scratch the surface of U2's accomplishments, both creatively and in terms of commercial success. Coldplay has a couple of good albums not including "Viva La Vida" which was produced by U2's long time producer Brian Eno.
@jorgpabl31 ppl, how can u explain to some1 who loves rock that a popband is better then a rockband? tell me how? coldplay and U2 arent the same and dont say that U2 isn't good at the time, maybe bono's voice is less then befor, but u can hear Edge improves his guitar riffs all the time! Does coldplay even have electric guitar??
@jorgpabl31 coldplay can go crawl in a ditch...its not U2 its the world thats FUCKED UP who like justin beiber and gaga....wise ones know U2 is a blessing that landed on this planet.
CP came out with violet hill AND STILL CANNOT BEAT THIS SONG....
@anacrobat89 well said.u2 have sold over 125 million albums worldwide since 1980.far more than coldplay ever will.also bono said that chris martin is a wanker
definetely, it should be include in the unforgettable fire or in the last album, sorry for my english. norman i´ m agree with you, now in spanish: Esta cancion define muy bien su sonido, es envolvente atmosferica y preciosa Este ultimo disco ha recobrado mi fe en U2.
Yeah if Bono wrote these lyrics in the past year or so for this release, then why isn't he writing these kinds of lyrics on their albums that come out? NLOTH was great, but this is beautiful poetry. Reminds me of the kind of writing in Acrobat.
@RattleAndHum1988 Hmm, I get your point but these lyrics are nowhere near TUF. Lyrically it reminds me more of Achtung Baby, it has a Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses kind of bitter, cynical lover quality to it.
1. No Line on the Horizon 2.Magnificient 3. Moment of surrender 4.Unknown Caller 5.Fez-Reborn 6.White As Snow 7.Breathe 8.Cedars of Lebanon 9.Disappearing Act 10.Kingdom If the album would have had this tracklist.. it would have been the masterpiece of their career, no matter how much achtung baby, zooropa, pop, unforgettable fire or joshua tree were great. This is my opinion
hey ! Don't you forgot "stand up comédy" ?! and well i feel "Get on yours boots" is full originality. For me NLOTH is one of four best album of U2 with Achtung baby, The Joshua tree and Pop.
This proves that they should rerecord the early albums (first 3) granted this was unreleased it still proves they can make the oldest sound like brand new
Cannabooze, no, no, I would NEVER EVER compare the boys with Coldplay - U2 are dimensions better than they, and Coldplay can dream of being so great and musically good as U2 is. Nobody will be so great as U2, cause they're the greatest of all times. And only said, that it reminds me, but that's all - and as you said, only because of the producer.
And, as you can read it in my name, I'm probably one of the biggest U2-fans in the world! ;)
And by the way, No line was meant to be an experimental album, which contains one mood along the songs. BUT: this is (disappearing act) what I call experiment!! It's so much more experimental that the whole new album, they should do this genre of experimentation with Eno and Lanois as they did it in '84. This song is like one Coldplay songs from our days from Viva la vida or Prospekts March.
That's U2, it's so original. And this is the music that U2 needs to do right now in their next album! Go on boys, and you'll be far far and even better that No line...! ;)
release it now as a single... play to their strengths rather than try to compete with the killers and kings of leon....no one can deny this is a shimmering beautiful record...they think its an artistic crime to repeat the big 'U2' sound, admirable but i think its a crime for this to be un released to a wider audience and resticted to a mere bonus cd.....Edges guitar is mesmerizing almost overpoweringly emotive, which is what U2 ARE ALL ABOUT
It's a shame U2 doesn't write drum parts like the ones in this song anymore. As a matter of fact, it's a shame U2 rarely makes songs this good anymore.
@specialmoon86 U2 are very good but there are a lot of groups making very good music now, es decir no hay que refugiarse en posturas de fanaticos talibanes. In this decade it has been so many groups with talent. In spanish desde el 93 U2 ha ido a rebufo de radiohead por ejemplo.
Great Song, it is so good that it could be realesed as a single now. I Think there are some vocals that have been recorded this year, Bono´s voice sounds more like NLOTH songs than Unforgettable Fire
I read online that most of these vocals were recorded this year because they we're digging up old material and this was just an instrumental they just fixed up.
