Massive fan of both U2 and Coldplay but Coldplay came out with the better album last time out so I would say Coldplay are the better band at the moment. It's not that No Line On The Horizon was a bad album. It was their best since Zooropa but Viva La Vida and Death And All His Friends by Coldplay was fantastic. But overall no one can touch U2. They are that good. They are the best band since The Beatles in my mind.

Creatively coldplay doesn´t copy to u2, maybe to radiohead, anyway the time runs for all the groups. look at the wikipedia, coldplay has been number one in 36 countries with the last album while bono is trying to save africa. U2 only got this 23 years ago with the joshua tree. Brian Eno is a great producer like  showed with david bowie

Cannabooze, no, no, I would NEVER EVER compare the boys with Coldplay - U2 are dimensions better than they, and Coldplay can dream of being so great and musically good as U2 is. Nobody will be so great as U2, cause they're the greatest of all times. And only said, that it reminds me, but that's all - and as you said, only because of the producer.

And by the way, No line was meant to be an experimental album, which contains one mood along the songs. BUT: this is (disappearing act) what I call experiment!! It's so much more experimental that the whole new album, they should do this genre of experimentation with Eno and Lanois as they did it in '84. This song is like one Coldplay songs from our days from Viva la vida or Prospekts March.
