  • dabambz is mostly wrong. While larger brakes do weigh more, they do not result in longer stops. If you don't know what you are talking about, shut up. Mead916 - good job upgrading your wheels AND brakes! I have this same 16" Wilwood kit on my Escalade with 26" wheels. I tow four-place snowmobile trailers through the mountains out west and would probably be dead if I didn't upgrade my brakes.

  • @jgscribner thanks man......oh and there is a video out there where the guy rips me a new one up and down over my false claims of better stopping - and the idiot FAILS to even notice how much weight i carry around and the size of my wheels. How can someone dispute a 6 piston caliper over a stock caliper when towing 2000+ lbs or in your case, a trailer full of toys. LOL - some people.

  • WTF am I doin' watching this????

Life's too short to waste time with this.......

  • @casicasixt much like the vids on your page, life is way to short to watch that bullshit....the difference is, people watch mine and nobody watches yours. LOL

  • what's the gas mileage like on the hoe? Cause those amps are HEAVY

  • siccccckkkkkkkk

  • от тупой америкс, к абочине прижать нельзя было сразу?

  • Nice ride and results

  • tyres are always the deciding factor-with the weight of your truck I can understand the brake upgrade-looks like the tyres where consistant in both tests-the better the tyres the better the braking, the better the brakes the better the tyres will work

  • wow is incredible

  • Dabambz made one of the dumbest comments I've ever heard. Not only do bigger rotors put the caliper further from the center of rotating mass (which increases torque) but they also increase the linear travel through the caliper per wheel revolution. I guess by her thinking race cars have the smallest rotors possible. Yea I said her, its got to be a woman.!

  • i thumb down stupid comments ;)

  • wilwood very good parts =o

    ;)

  • captain save a hoe mayyne

  • i applaud you for tucking those big wheels and also installing big brakes to stop the extra weight!

  • Holy shit. Your brake rotors are the same size as my car's wheels, yet the brakes get dwarfed by those bigass rims.

  • Like the rims, my cousin has the exact same ones on his 06 Escalade same size 2....ALOT of attention though

    Nice truck keep it up.

  • Looks great Steve, fits with the wheels a lot more, and the difference is amazing.

  • dude those brake are kickass bro

  • Best of both worlds, nicer looking brakes and they stop you more quickly. Nice work once again Steve and Wilwood.

  • Comment removed

  • what rims are those? cuz my buddys got the same ones on a white silverado

  • lol the way you talk to your kid reminds me of my dad

  • I want to drop my Tahoe at that level, How can I ?

  • very nice video dude! I just bought this kit for my tiburon!

Fuck everyone that's talking shit. They are just jealous that they cant afford a big brake kit! haha

  • @MadeYouMad67 How do you know he wants to be? what if he just wants the subs and the big rims and talks like he does? hes white with things he likes thats all. what makes niggers diffrent from the rest of us? nothing other than the color of the skin. dont be hatin on steve just because your jelous...

  • how much were your new breaks? nice!

  • @MadeYouMad67 LOL!

  • i have 12" brembos in my rx8=] so ill go vrooom pshuuaaa vroooom pshauu then a douchebag peice of shit redneck motherfucker will throw them selves infront of me=] n i go "brake" n i dont hit them :D

  • @MadeYouMad67 How would he be a ni##$%?

  • Whys everyone hatin on this vid? Steve was puttin brakes on and decided to show you.Its not like he forced you to watch it damn!

  • Ok. Bigger diameter brakes, larger surface area pads, and larger calipers will stop better. The extra pistons press on the pad more evenly and create a larger total piston area so they generate more pressure at the pad. Even if the stock brakes can lock up the wheels the bigger brakes will still stop better. Since you don't have to push the pedal as hard you can modulate it and keep it at the edge of locking up. And, they'll work better at higher speed slowing you down better.

  • @NBSV1 somebody that knows what they are talking about. thank you

  • Hey Meade, have you done any engine mods besides audio influenced stuff? Just wondering cause you do have a lot of both sprung and unsprung weight.

  • yoo are those 4 or 6 pistions? also, do you have the set up just for the front brakes or the back too?

  • how dark is your tint boss? i want the same.

  • @MadeYouMad67 why do people like you give this nice man so much shit just enjoy the fucking videos that he puts his own time and effort into

  • how do you get it so that your wheels dont rub(thats what is seems like) I have 24s on a 1998 chevy silverado,

  • thsts only a v6! wow it sounds likea v8

  • @TheGuywithecamera I thought it is a v8?!!!!

  • if your stock brakes have the power to lock the wheels up, then unless you are having brake fade, they will stop as quick as the new ones. however, if the stock brakes are getting brake fade from 60mph (which is rediculous) then these brakes would have made a difference. end of the day, if your stock brakes could lock up the wheels, then it comes down to the tyres. however, after the first or second stop, the new brakes wont be fading whereas the stock brakes would have stopped working.

  • nice

  • What kinda drop u got on ur tahoe. It looks perfect with those u2s

  • who sings that song 22' or better?

  • @barbaricbarbosa

    swang on em'-Bun B

  • Bigger brakes also means more rotational mass, which means longer stops. The only advantage of a big brake is it got more heat sink, which is more cooling. Unless you change the master cylinder to compliment the brake kit, then your pretty much making your braking worse.

Also it's nice that your trying to do the test as accurate as you can, but the fact of the matter is its done in different times, different days. There is no standard benchmark for conditions that make you data accurate.

  • @dabambz there is well over 2000lbs of extra weight in my tahoe. The truck stops better now, no ifs, ands or buts. If you cant believe that there is a difference, BUY SOME and find out for yourself - until then, you can sit at home, skeptical with your shitty ass stock brakes. :) BTW, These brakes were designed for the STOCK master cylinder. Wilwood suggested i do NOT upgrade.

  • @meade916 Hey man thanks for the video, I was considering a brake upgrade for my project Benz and this vid just about made up my mind. Thanks again dude, keep it up.

  • @meade916 Good burn that meade916! Looks awesome! Like those gauges too!

  • @meade916 Nice truck and brake system dude . Screw them haters man... I gave you a thumbs up.

  • @dabambz The bigger brakes add more mass, which does make a better heat sink to keep them from warping, but they also increase the amount of leverage they get. Making the diameter larger will make it stop quicker. Why else would they put big heavy rotors on race cars where unsprung weight is such a big deal?

  • @NBSV1 Yes it does make sense that it will give it more leverage , but if you take the clamping force into consideration it should be the same, since the master cylinder where the brake fluid lies isn't changed. It puts out the same pressure over a bigger surface area rather an area it was originally designed for such as the stock brakes.

  • @dabambz

True, but really mate i dont think that he was really going that far with it??

  • @dabambz ok bill nye the science guy, you act like it was fucking raining one of the days

  • @dabambz Finally someone who fucking knows something.....brakes for show lol...fail

  • @dabambz theoretical yes. but bigger breaks do not mean, that you got longer stops because of the higher mass. lmfao. this is stupid. on bigger breaks, you got biggerbreak pads. that means, that you got a bigger face between pads and disks. you got more power by braking. i cannot express in english very good. i am german. but with bigger and better brake pads you will have no longer stops. go to technical school and learn something about physics.

  • @bogubbi111 ye s buddy!! people try and talk smart but aren't, you are completely right or why not put shitty ass brakes from a shitty ass car on a Lamborghini or some other car that can reach crazy speeds?? heat dissipates easier with a bbk which in return makes a quicker stop, the rotational mass on something that may be bigger in size but lighter than stock rotors isnt going to be a big enough difference to make any sort of negative outcome of having the bbk...... i could be wrong but ..

  • @dabambz

When you figure that the stock breaks are ment to stop the truck with factory wheels and at the most, Fully loaded with passengers... In resonable time! Steve has his truck loaded with you're car, and 26's... With that type of rolling force you need greater heat displacement and much, much greater/balanced clamping force!! That's what he got, It stops "quicker" and can do it over and over without having worries that the breaks will be to hot to stop. Heat makes breaks not work.

  • @dabambz

If You had this weight you would want theese breaks too. So please stop hating steve for doing the thing's we wish we could. Sounds like with all that knowledge you could have make like 100+ bucks doin some breaks 4 someone, insted you wasted it leaving comments that made you look foolish

Damn shame. And nice breaks steve!

  • great info i'll be doing the same kit this summer. just need outside info on wilwood brand after someone used it.

  • @dabambz This is not true - larger diameter means increased torque as the force is further from the pivot (centre point.

  • @dabambz thats not true. modulation smoothness ect better is better its not only heat. You do stop shorter depending on your calibration. Also pads and caliper system depending on the one you choose. So that couldnt be far from false.

  • when r u gonna recalibrate your wheels, go to a good mechanic 70 bucks tops

  • Nice rims, Giovanna Peggs?

  • @DudeWithaPage

    U2-55's

  • nice!!!!! MEADE!!!!!!!

  • whered you get them rims?

  • Hey man, ur tahoe hv abs sys rite.... Am i true or false...? R u using ventilated disc for both front n back?

  • @nicholastmhsw i took the ABS out, it was malfunctioning from the factory YEARS ago

  • Hey man, ur tahoe have abs rite? Am i true or false? Anyway nice ride...

  • It seems that some people think you are faking this. Could you give a reason why you might want to fake this video? The only one I can think of is that Wilwood sponsors you and any sales that are made because of you, you get a commission off of it. *shrug*

  • @1389137 plus that damn ABS went out for its second time about 5 years ago so i had the fuse out (since it was vibrating my floor 24/7). Shitty ass chevy ABS and their shitty ass parking brake never works right either LOL. Anyway, i dont need the ABS with the wilwoods :)

  • @meade916 Damn did your parking brake cable snap too? My tios 2002 silverado had the same problem

  • @meade916 hahahaha, would LOVE to see you say this as your Wilwoods lock your wheels up faster the first time you slam them on at a corner. ABS ALLOWS YOU TO STEER WHILE BRAKING, NOT BRAKE QUICKER.

138(..) is also correct - DIYing your own brakes is what has caused you to screw up the ABS calibration, if you had a mech who knew what they were doing it'd work just fine.

  • @omardude39 please shut the fuck up. The ABS has been disabled for years.... WAY before the wilwoods. Also, keep in mind, fuckface, this thing has 26's and 2000lbs of sound equipment in the back. If you dont think the Wilwoods are better then stock then you are as fucking stupid as the rest of the trolls.

  • lol man i feel bad for his kid..

  • @payndew why? he is spoiled - i wouldnt feel sorry for a kid who has everything.

  • @jergi313 idiot meade916 could do whatever he wants on his tahoe. meade916 needs these brakes to stop quicker when he is cruising bumping his music

  • @VEVeight i disagree asshole meade916's test was flawless and these brakes make a huge difference

  • put sum straight 3 inch pipes on that monstah

  • @jergi313 Dude Its doesn't matter if his test is flawed, It still proves the point that his new brakes stop his tahoe much quicker. Point made. Sure he could have done a few things that would help give better results, but thats not the case. Brake Upgrade > Stock Brakes. Good work Steve.

  • @VEVeight What...the HELL...are you talking about? What you just said made no sense at all...

  • Depending on how you drive with stock brakes with bigger than factory rims, you will be doing brake jobs more frequently. People who are looking to get bigger rims do the research on upgrading your brakes as well. Just my .02

  • That is a mean 'Hoe my man. I have the U2-55s on my Escalade but only in 24''. Those 26's are HUGE. Looks like a 3/5 drop? Lookin' so tough and so clean. I need a set of those brakes to fill out my 4's wanna hook your boy up with a deal? Lol

  • Great upload meade. I found the Wilwood BBK for my GTI and they are $1000 less than the Stop Tech kits! I'm sold on them. Don't look as flashy but it's ok,

  • @jergi313 keep in mind, jackass, i have 2000lbs of weight in the back of my ride and 26" rims. I had stock brakes for years and now i got these. The difference was INCREDIBLE. You need to pay attention to whats going on before you run your stupid ass fingers across the keyboard.

  • @meade916 Dude I feel for you. These guys have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. The first asshole had no point at all. You stopped faster, with less effort, and without locking the brakes up, than the other runs. Sounds like a major increase in efficiency to me. Then the second douchebag tried to back up a completely invalid point. The test wasn't flawed at all lol I don't see how these internet failures think they're winning any arguments. Nice truck by the way.

  • @meade916 i agree with u meade916. with 26 inch rims which are nice and 1 ton of cargo that adds weight but nice brake setup though. i hate it when haters disses on other peoples rides

  • Comment removed

  • @VEVeight you are a dumb ass motherfucker. I have 26" rims and 2000 lbs of EXTRA WEIGHT from my system. Yes, bigger brakes help TREMENDOUSLY.....your fucking FOOL if you think otherwise. BTW: i dont have ABS FUCKBREATH.

  • the test isnt flawed and wasnt meant to be scientific - just real world, no bullshit - thanks for your input, moron.

  • Comment removed

  • are these better than what brembo has to offer?

  • wilwood sells the 6 pot front brake kits for cheaper than brembo sells there 4 pot front brake kits.

  • damn the four piston brembo's are over $6500 a set? i doubt that -

  • @meade916 haha, no. the wilwood 6pot front kit is around 2k. the brembo 4 pot front kit is ~2500.

these are prices i saw a little while ago, so they probably have changed.

  • actually your looking at over $3300 just for the fronts on a set like mine. My rears were damn near just as expensive. I got a good deal because i do what i do, but MSRP on a set is in the high $6's without install.

  • @meade916 then again, i guess there is a huge difference in price from the 6pot kits for a tahoe and the 6 pots kits for a wrx, didnt even think of that lol.

  • oh ya true true.....anyway even if mine are cheaper in price, its all expensive shit - and GOOD shit too :) aint no such a thing as a generic set of 6 piston brakes i dont care what brand they are.

  • @meade916 indeed

  • @myogetsu666 define better.

  • @myogetsu666 yes, much better. more pistons per caliper = more friction = more braking force = faster stopping.

thats why you see most high performance cars come factory with atleast 4pot calipers in the front with ~14" rotors.

  • only a MORON would question whether these are better then stock.....i mean a COMPLETE moron. Thanks for your input and attempt to discredit me though LOL.

  • ABS has been disconnected since 2004 when it went out. How you like them apples? LOL DUMBASS

  • @meade916 Meade?

  • how much did this conversion cost you?

  • thats what i need for my hoe....having a hard time finding it for a 97 tho

  • PFC FTW

  • what type of exhaust is that. It sounds good.

  • No joke, those rotors are about 650 each.... thats jsut rotors! I have wilwoods on my nova but their just 4piston dynalites with 10.75 rotors, still stops insane

  • @nmdrum361 thanks man, ya they are the best i love them to death!

  • Very impressive ...i looked at there website but unfortunately they do not have an application for my vehicle :(...... I am gonna try to contact them and see what they can do for me ....but this video definitely helped out ..... thanks for posting steve....

  • @raygunz45 no prob!

  • my bad ! they were stoptech not wilwood.. so u mean 2 tell me that they coost $8,000 bucks?

  • Installed.....for the ones i have its damn close to that.

  • those brakes are badass! & expensive a fuck!! i seen them on ebay for 4 stacks....large!!!

  • damn 50% off on ebay? that is a deal.

  • are you sponsored by wilwoood?

  • haha those rotors are bigger than my rims!!!! lol

  • Comment removed

  • good vid, sweet ride, its good to get lil man to help thats whats up. man i need some of those brakes, how much do they run for the whole package? they sweet...

  • reason why those brakes are very effective is because they are fixed calipers, they are the most powerfull out of the 3 types floating, sliding, and fixed.

  • every1 driving by is like what the fuck's up with this guy

  • @skaterboy52093c and every one who drives past u is like ahhghghg look at tht bum and who ever walks past u is like arrrrrrr smellly turd alert

  • I think with the weight he's got in that truck he does need big brakes .....

  • hey steve, what HID kit are you using here? I saw your vid on the futurevisions, are they on this car too? Im looking for a nice kit that gives off a blue color, but not too expensive (less than $200), what do you recommend?

  • autoxsport . com is where i picked mine up...still running strong

  • I recommend the 8000k, but you have to look all over the country until you find some good, I have 2 kit, and ballasts will burn me all the time, a headache, so I decided to remove them

  • hey it looks like 2 of your lug nuts are missing on the front passenger side, or am i just seeing things

  • probably miss matching locking lugnuts

  • lol maybe, but he most likey has two lock nuts

  • haha looks like a hot wheels/tonka toy car at 5:08

  • hay i have a 2003 ford f-150 on 24 i want a big brake kit seeing this makes me work harder to get on how much would the kit go from where your from i live in nyc and they cost 7,000 up here and can you also give me a website

  • hey did you buy a different set for the rear tires or did u buy a front set and just put them on the rear? they dont offer rear sets for my car wat do i do?

  • niceee !!

  • Wow. Im really impressed. Normally Im really opposed to large rims and heavy systems because around here where I live, people dont think about the bigger picture. Even the rednecks out here...huge tires...stock brakes. You sir are using your head and thinking about the bigger picture. I applaud you for that. Your the first Ive seen that actually cares about stopping your rig. I had a big smile on my face when I saw those huge disc and gleaming calipers. Keep it real and keep it safe.

  • thanks man i appreciate you sayin so....it took me a minute to get them too, its not the cheapest investment.....its one of the most expensive actually and thats prob why no one does it. Totally worth it though, its got AMAZING stopping power, better then my stock ford F150 with nothing in the back.

  • Wilwood should pay you for this. nice review. did u have to chage the master cylinder?

  • Most people upgrade them truck with Hugh rim on stock braking system and bitch about their brake failing even when they say the brakes and rotor are brand new and are the good brand. All I do is look at them and shook my head.. They could bitch all they want as long as they keep coming back and pay be to do their brakes. It just upset me, because most people dont know, when upgrade big rims, brake upgrade is a must. anyways.. those brakes are a MONSTER. Thinking about gettin a set for my Acura.

  • i like people that think like you do......the RIGHT way....i cant believe ive actually had a few people tell me it wasnt necessary LOL - shiiiiit it may not feel necessary till you make the switch and you wonder why you havent gotten in an accident yet. New ones are GREAT!

  • the only guy i know of that upgrades the brakes! good job and mad respect. no need for rainbow paint. beat and performance first. now thats called money well spent. aint no lil 8 inch drums in the back of that tahoe. nice install

  • on the real, thanks for recognizing - most people dont.

  • Damn sick shit yo. I'll check your site.

  • Fuck man-You really know how to do reviews on things that really matter.Everyone talks about turbo and supercharger, but than again, some of their rides still have the stock braking system. But you,not only you demonstrate the stock brakes, but u also compare em to the WILLWOODS.

You got a smart system goin on dude

    RESPECT BRAH

  • thanks for sayin that i appreciate that shit my bro....

  • Don't thank me bro-i'm just being real y'know. But it's all good homie.Much Respect comin from me down in the land downunder "AUSTRALIA"

  • I like how it smoothens the braking part too

  • Hey man, how much did that set you back? them brakes, nice set up,rims, system, and the look. props.

  • man SM where did u get them 26"s?....they look like u2 55 but when i look for them they only show up as big as 24"s.........i wanna pop'm in my 99 escalade.......chitown showin luv'

  • i got them at a local shop that isnt even open anymore...they are indeed u2-55 though

  • this is the DUMBEST comment of 2009 - Congrats hahah......i should send you a prize for stupidity

  • Cypern you are a complete idiot.... There is a total difference in breaking distance or are you blind...... Steve's stock brakes took longer to stop than his upgraded ones you fool..... Damn steve you should send this idiot a prize for acting like a total jackass :-))! Keep up gd work anyways ur ride is teh shit!

  • I WANNA B SAVED lol

  • That was wicked... those are some HUUGGEEE brakes, whats the cost on those? Im sure that aint too easy on the wallet but deff worth saving your life/car...

  • Thank you for recognizing the bigger the rim the larger the brakes you need. I often see cars with rims like that and stock brakes. It makes me wonder what would ever happen if they ever need to actually use them.

  • its not just safer it looks allot better too

  • Wilwood Co. should pay you for this promotion xD

  • they might just you know give him the stuff to keep after as a promo

  • hey meade play these songs they fuccin hit hard as hell

  • i dont know i am an american, we dont care about km/h :)

  • lol hahaha well put :) "fuck kph man" lol your ride is amazing your subs are amazing man take it easy

  • about 85 kph, although I'm sure you've already looked it up

  • it's something about 90 km/h

  • u bumpin that bun b gangsta also.....that shit slumps hard

  • Ur headlight's at the start of the video are super bright and cool.
