  • Ah, John Moses Browning. Probably the most briliant gun designer of all time.

  • will they stop Zombies?

  • I want a '73 Trapdoor carbine!!! One of my all-time favorites!!!

  • sounds like you could play 'marching through georgia'!

  • the brass on that marlin is so big it looks like its ejecting shotgun cartridges

  • This is an older video for sure.

  • Fuck'n bee.

  • Great shooting!

  • Sanity599

I think you are right but you are wrong at telling hickok45 how to shoot. Look at his other videos he very rarly flinches

  • In the past I used to teach martial arts. A great tool was using videos of the student. They could see themselves. Don't misunderstand me you are a good shot but you have a problem. At 4:03 you run out of bullets and anticipate the recoil. You move the rifle when it didn't go off. I suggest that you take videos of yourself just for yourself. Have someone else load the lever gun so you don't know how many are in it. Then video yourself shooting and see if you anticipate.

  • Are short barrels really more accurate? Shorter distance between sights and all that. always thought they were less accurate.

  • Your an amazing shot!!! Where did you get the bullet sling?

  • Was hickok in the military?? hes a great marksman, i can barely shoot a target at 30 yards

  • @NoobAtFPS Well, before he records video I'm sure he shoots and learns his guns. I am sure he learns where the gun is shooting with the iron sights and/or adjusts them to himself personally.

  • Hickock45 is the Ranger with the Big Iron on his Hip...

  • You should've shot that bee that got in the way of the camera...

  • try not trigger jerking

  • which round is more accurate the 30-30 or the 45-70

  • Great shooting. I hope I can shoot that well someday. I also hope I can afford a private range that nice someday.

  • This guy is the real deal. All of it is impressive, but that down range accuracy with the 3" .44 mag is OUTSTANDING.

  • @mlcoo17 yes I was also impressed.

  • So, are those 405's loaded in the smokeless powder equivalent?

  • heavy lead

  • I was looking at getting a Marlin/Remington 1895 .45-70. To big of a shot for deer though. I chose a Remington 770 .270 instead.

  • I own a 1895 Guide Gun and I can testify to the awesomeness of that round. Get one!

  • very good rifle

  • The .45-70 is a SWEET cartridge!

  • Good stuff.

  • I love the BANG...(delay).....BONG.

  • The first hickok45 joke. "Any questions" loving the marathon so far.

  • I would do ANYTHING to have a range like that in my backyard! Awesome videos, ive been watching them all day, great and interesting collection of firearms also. I've learned a lot!

  • Whats with all the CoD kids and this fpsrussia guy?

  • AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THAT BEE? RUN HICKOK RUN!!!!!! >.<

  • Tom Horn!

  • you have it made

  • Damn, he doesn't miss with ANYTHING! I'd love a 45-70. I'm thinking Ruger Mini 30

  • damn id love to visit this little range

  • good shooting

  • Damn I actually thought that bee was really in front of me, but great video though.

  • I saw that flinch at 4:04 but I can't blame you, 45-70 is serious business.

  • @imahavethatpicasso kyle is not russian. he just uses that "accent" for the channel.

  • How does the .45/70 compare to the .44 magnum?

  • @CaliforniaCarpenter7 depending on the grain and type of bullet used, there about a thousand pounds of energy apart. the 45/70 is absolutely the grand daddy in that comparison. really no comparison at all in my opinion.

  • hey hickok I have some questions over this. First you said you maxed out the load for the lever action 45-70. Did the reloading book tell you this load? If not who did you get the information from? Did you cast the 300 grain bullets you use? If not where did you get them? Also I thought you said that shooting those targets with a big rounds like these that they would be damaged. Why are you shooting them in this video?

  • If you tuned those targets you could play a song. You'd never miss a note.

  • You the man HICKOK45!!! good reviews as always

  • The bee wanted to shoot some too.

  • lol at the bee at 1:25

  • Sounds like church bells ringing : )

  • Wow, I've heard people talk about how the .44 Magnum round has so much recoil, muzzle flash, etc., but you seem to shoot it like it's nothing.

  • Hickok what are the chances of you getting a .577 Tyrannosaur on the compound?

  • what kind of ammo were you using in that 629? Ive got one just like that and there is NO WAY you can shoot it that fast because of the recoil. Yours is barely kicking up.

  • @Sodiumreactor He's using his handloads which are a light to moderate magnum load, and they are not as hot as factory loads usually. Also given he's 6'8 and has very large hands, recoil doesn't affect him as much.

  • You do have a mighty beautiful collection of rifles there sir! Thank you for sharing.

  • Hickok45, do you have any big rifles??

I own Browning Safari grade in 375H&H Magnum and a Remington Safari model in 416 Remington Magnum.. Should make some vids of my own and share them:)

  • Hi Hickok, just got a Marlin 45/70 1895 cowboy and am loading 405grn cast bullets over Reloader 7 powder. In your experience about what velocity suits these caste bullets? They are .457 and give me 1730fps over 40 grn RL7. Really enjoy your videos, keep it up! Mike

  • Ever notice that you rarely see anyone that is not military firing a barret 50? For one thing, a barret 50 costs one hell of a shiny penny... And it's about $1.50 a round.

  • @7DaysPassion I saw a TV show a while back about the Barrett family. The Barretts were at a local range firing the latest version of the Barret .50. At that time the gun was not in production. Anyway, there was another guy at the range, just a local shooter. He didnt appear to know the Barrets personally but Ronnie Barrett asked him if he would like to fire the weapon! How cool would that be!

  • nice @ !

  • Thanks for the great shooting Videos Hickok. I'm curious about the ballistics of the Marlin .44 magnum lever and the Marlin.45-70 lever rifles. How do they compare with one another? Thanks

  • Wow! ur a beast with the big guns how about the 454? how is it comp to a 45-70?

  • had that same 94 but it was stolen

  • Stay away from the bells, he hates the bells

  • The range... It feels so empty... (compared to now) haha

  • hey hickok45! I wanted to know what all heavy loads there are out there. I know there is 45-70, 45-120, and 50-90 (which I would love to know guns out there now for sale in that caliber). What else might there be out there including any of the safaria dangerous game loads as they call them that you know? Thanks!

  • @fishblade2 700, Tyrannosaurus, 600, etc, Go look it up on Wikipedia. As for Sale.... Not to sure

  • looks like I need some more trigger time, I have a 1895SBL that I can't shoot that good. Nice shooting, I try to catch all of your videos!

  • brasiliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii tem 5 mundiais

  • Impressive return-to-target time!

  • wind noise.... cant decide between a trapdoor or a sharps for a 45-70 buffalo hunter gun

  • man, seriously impressive shooting with that s&w.

  • I too love the 45 70 .... love my 1895xlr

  • if this guys aiming at ya,,your pretty much fked lol

  • Are you FpsRussia's Dad?

  • @IcedTeaization He makes FPSrussia look like Icarly

  • @IcedTeaization hickok45 would NEVER have a son as fake as fpsrussia

  • I'd love this guy to be my dad!

  • hey hickok you should try to get your hands on a magnum research bfr 45-70 revolver

  • The ultimate gun control, hitting the target.

  • @hopecamel

I think there is like 0.002 difference in the projectile diameter but if you look in a reloading bible you will be able to tell the difference.

  • I hate that you can't make rounds for the trap door as hot as you can for the lever action.

  • so basically the .45-70 is just a rly long version on of the 45 colt correct?

  • i think your a 3 inch barrel guy. are you?

  • your shooting is outstanding

  • can you even buy a new lever rifle .45? if so what and where ?

  • this was the first hickok45 video ive ever seen and now i watch these videos all of the time.

  • champion

  • These babies right here! nice 45/70.

  • These babies right here! nice 45/70

  • This guy's clint eastwood.

  • Could you put a 410. in the guns or would the cartrige fall into the barrel?

  • 10 people are allergic to bees

  • supposedly the 45-70 has a round that is even more powerful than the 500 s&w.

  • @sk8forlife90 You can't really compare the two since .500 S&W isn't yet available in a rifle. The .500 is larger diameter and from what I've heard can use 600-700 grain projectiles. That said, the .45-70 is no slouch. Notice how it knocks down the shilouettes....most of the other guns Hickok fires at them only make them ring!!!

  • I saw that flinch...lol

  • Notice that the bell sound from the struck targets lasts a very long time after being hit with the .45-70....one of my favorite cartridges.

  • PINGG~

Oh what a lovely sound. Hahaha

  • Fantastic video. Nice guns.

  • greetings from down under, love ya work mate!

  • life is good =)

  • COOL

  • Seriously you should audition for topshot, your good.

  • What you don't see in the video...is the tube of Ben Gay off camera for that shoulder after all of that!!

  • where'd you get these targets?

  • Jesus, this guy doesn't miss! Doesn't he have a Beretta 92FS/Glock video?

  • NIce shootin'

  • What camera did you shoot this with?

    Thanks :) !

  • another great Vid from Hickok 45 Thanks Hickok James in Modesto CA Loved it

  • You're an excellent shot mr..

  • Hickok45, i love your 29-2 44mag video. I was wondering, any idea where to get the original 29-2 box?

  • the 45-70 bullet was not made for the trap door it was made for the remington lee rifle witch came before the trap door

  • @joshua987x correct the lee was what the 45 70 was desginend for. after appaerent weaknesses in the lee and finding it cheaper and easier to convert old muskets over to single shot 45 70s the US government deicde to arm the troops with the trapdoor. in use till the spanish american war.

  • This is the guy liberals hate. But we Americans love our guns so I hope they won't ever be restricted too much (if not already in my opinion)

  • @jarostone I'm a Socalist and I like this guy. He's a good shot, safety conscious and knowledgeable.

  • @LordPayne Well you've got the right attitude about it. Second amendment for the win? He really is a knowledgeable and safe person, but I agree with the left wing when it comes to crazy people. Unfortunately most people are just plain stupid with guns... I go with bows though.

  • @jarostone I could get into a whole arguement about guns for defensive purposes, mind you, but you seem like a reasonable person who doesn't deserve that sort of blind, frothing rage directed at them.

Anyway, with bows I'm never sure if I'd go with a compound crossbow or a traditional bow and arrow set up... plus, if I get it wrong there's an animal screaming in pain or if I'm really bad, another person complaining about the new hole in their arm.

  • @LordPayne Well hopefully you aren't shooting a bow at a person. heheh. I'll tell you right now, I bought a compound bow, and I made my own laminated bow. Shooting traditional is better, requires more skill and strength, and it feels good when you get the skill to hit a target, as Hickok says.

  • @jarostone I meant I might hit a person through incompetence whilst hunting, which is a fear in general, really.

The weapon I'd like to try killing an animal with is something like a tomahawk, but then you need caveman levels of strength to properly wrestle with an animal and few people have that sort of muscle anymore, plus it's rediculously hard to get that close to an animal without it running away or goring you.

It would be the ultimate show of skill, short of an unarmed takedown.

  • WOW VERY COOL .....

  • I love your videos, you make shooting seem so easy but in reality it's not.

  • HIckok....you should try out for Top Shot.....

  • I don't know why bolt-action rifles were so popular during WW1 (and WW2) when clearly, at least in my mind, lever guns seem much more handy and practical.

  • @Dodo251 the tubular magazines of lever action rifles necessitated the use of flat-tipped bullets, otherwise dropping or hitting the rifle hard enough would cause the tip of a bullet to discharge the primer of the bullet in front of it. the flat tipped nature of this ammo means that the rounds will not be as accurate or have the same amount of energy down range as a full power, pointy-tip bullet. Modern lever-action ammo features squishy gel tips that make the bullets aerodynamic. Good question

  • @spiffinz Thank you very much for that clarification!

  • @Dodo251 During the Spanish-American war spanish irregulars were often armed with lever action rifles in various calibers and used them extensively against the .30-40 krag and the antiquated springfield trapdoors in .45-70 issued to volunteers. I can recall reading that the old, venerable .45-70 had a markedly psychological effect on the Spanish troops unlucky enough to be targeted, the massive lead slugs tended to dismember and leave men with their insides on their outsides

  • @spiffinz Very interesting, I appreciate your time and effort. I come from a country where people are not allowed to carry guns and gaining a permit to just own a gun can sometimes take up to 6 months. I'm farely new to firearms but I'm also seriously considering buying a handgun (despite the fact that the subject of personal protection is often shunned in my country) and am thoroughly interested in all kinds of weapons so any bit of interesting information about old guns is greatly appreciated!

  • @Dodo251 One reason for the change is that bolt action rifles are better designed for prone shooting, whereas a lever action would be difficult to shoot in a prone position

  • @guns4all100 That makes sense.

  • Sweet Vid Dude

  • Mr Hickok you are awesome!!! Your videos are great very informational and not to mention the BEAUTIFUL guns!!! Especialy the 1886 Browning!!!! You also know what you are talking about unlike a lot of other so called youtube experts. Keep the great videos coming!!! Ohh and by the way you are one hell of a good shot!!!!

  • Love it...45-70 is my 2nd favorite round of all time behind the .45 Colt. Nice videos!!

  • Damn what state do you live in? You wouldnt mind selling me some of those guns will yah?? :)

  • where are you located

  • I read that Remington bought out Marlin a couple of years ago. Anyone have any information on that ?

  • Hickock, where did you learn to shoot like that?

  • Juice a charging bear!

  • That was phenomenal shooting with the iron sights!

  • 1:11

What is that... OH NO NOT THE BEE! OH GOD ITS IN THE CAMERA ARRRRRARRRGHGHGGHH!!

  • @rossabo lol

  • The zombies are fucked.

  • My god can you shoot !!!!!!!

  • I want your back yard. Is it for sale?

  • @MustyGashPlug I want your name! is IT for sale?!!! haha

  • Outstanding vid...

Nice to see your safety practices ...

Too many idiots on Youtube these days, refreshing to finely catch some quality shooting .

    Thanks.

Looking forward to checking out some more of your work.

  • @MrGruntmaster , Thanks. You have a lot of homework to do if you just found me - over 350 videos! :-)

  • @hickok45 Hey I'm looking to buy a .45-70 repeater here sometime soon. I don't want to spend an enitrely too much amount of money and I've always liked Marlin. What would you recommend buying? Also, what did you call that short-barrel Marlin .45-70?

  • @AdamIowa89 its the Marlin Guide Gun in 45 70 those are nice they run around 400 to 550 as all Marlins... have a nice day!

  • @TheBassGuitarist1 oh a GUIDE gun...i thought he said that but i wasnt really sure. thanks

  • @AdamIowa89 i own a marlin model 1895g (guide gun) in .45-70 and i love it. theyre solidly built and seem to fit perfectly in the hands. they point well and after breaking them in cycle quite smoothly. my only gripe is the somewhat flimsy sights that come standard

  • @hickok45 Im still trying to catch up lol

  • @hickok45 hickok wheres the 444? or the 450? they are bigger than the 45 and 44 mag haha still great video! if u can get ahold if a 444 marlin will you shot it? same for a 450 marlin

  • @MrGruntmaster hes on of the coolest gun youtubers out here lol also check out the armery channel hes in m friends

  • Nice shootin! I recently purchased a TC Encore rifle in .45-70. It's an awesome cartridge. Our local library has a book by Paul Matthews, who lives in my hometown, titled "40 Years With the .45-70". If you don't already own it, I recommend it highly. Also...wasn't the .45-70 invented in 1866? I know it was adopted by the Army in 1873, but it's actual invention was earlier, I believe.

  • Hickok can you please run for president.

  • @jah2mail lol x1000000000000000000000000000

  • @jah2mail I want to be able to haul a 20mm AT through the mall...

  • I like the sound of that guide gun. The shorter barrell gives it a different and louder sound I guess. Kind of like a short exhaust on a motorcycle. How many guns do you own? I would like to have more guns but they are expensive....lol.

  • hickok45, i'm glad i'm on this side of the muzzles; you, sir, are an excellent shot, as I only remember one round not ringing the steel! even with the 3 in .44mag. I commend u, sir. keep vids coming

  • Just an outstanding video. Good Work!

  • Hickok, you make some great videos. You present alot of great information and its just a hell of a lot of fun to watch you. Thanks for the great work and fantastic shooting. Take care!

  • You Sir, are a heavy lead surgeon! Nice plinking.

  • hey hickok, that holster u got what kind is it? and where did u get it, and for how much? i got a smith and wesson 66 and i need a holster for it. four inch barrel, and that holster looks like it would work well.

  • You Are Freaking Good At Shootin!

  • I'm planning on buying a Marlin 1895 SBL with extra-large loop and ghost rings. I was told to hold off a while because the plant is being relocated. Remington just aquired Marlin and there was a question of quality control. any truth to this?

  • just bought me a 45-70! taking it hog huting in two weeks! lets see heavy led at the 230 yards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Marlin seems to have a smaller kick for most longer rifles that use the 45-70. I also the way it looks. Very nice rifle.

  • I noticed your fond of slip-on recoil pads. I couldn't help but notice that your recoil with the 629 was rather light - do you shoot lighter loads? The 45-70 is a nice cartridge but I'll stick with my .444 marlin.

  • would using a 45/70 at 100 yds or less on whitetails be overdoing it or acceptable?

  • @Bama15Baseball That depends on who you ask.

I beat the whitetails think is a terrible idea :)

  • I enjoyed that very much. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Them are some fine hog guns.

  • PLEASE post a video of you going on a real hunt that would be sweeet!

  • yep your son is much better than a tripod

  • Yeah....thats america....guns everywhere.

  • @ompakt and we like it that way!!!!

  • what's the effective range of your revolver? it seemed you were plinking at a pretty good distance.

thanx, i actually enjoyed watching that!

    :D

  • Hey Hickok45, do you have a video on your range setup? I love watching your clips, always fun and informative. But one thing I would really like is a closer look at how your targets are made, and their layout. I'm kind of a novice to target shooting, but am looking at setting up range of targets set at various distances. Something like yours would be pretty sweet.
