For many years i drive the BMW GS 1150 Adv. The best quality bike ever, but to heavy for real terrain. So dear Yamaha, built this bike like BMW and look for terrain quality at KTM. Keep the bike simple!!! A price under 13000 euro and you will have a winner. I love the looks of the bike in this film. I'll be waiting.

The 1200cc Super Ténéré as 2012 model, but it's XT660R that seems to have lead to this bike that I want.

I am still riding my 1989 YTZ 750 Super-Tenere, because Yamaha did not come up with a better one since the first Super-Tenere until now. Though beeing a German, i never considerd to buy a BMW due to the stupid CAN-BUS-system. The KTM for me is to sensibel an the new 1200 Super Tenere turns out to be a good cruiser, but not built for the dessert.

This Super Tenere Concept could bring me to sell my old faithfull xtz 750.

@Yamaha: Bring her to the road !!!

Please, Please, Please bring it to the U.S. Yamaha. Give BMW, KTM, and Moto GUzzi something to fear. There is an adventure market here and there are more of us than you Japanese manufacturers realize.

And UPDATE the old crappy dual-sports you sell here. It's embarrassing. KTM, Husqvarna, and others rule that market. Get your heads out of the sand ! ! !

I don't like all the additional technology on the 1200 version with ABS etc. I like the bike to be simple, rugged and maintainable at home or on the road. BMW is a big draw back in this respect with very expensive servicing and few bike shops capable of servicing the machines because of the relevant diagnostics equipment is only carried by BMW. This effectively ropes the customers into continual dependency on the dealership (good for BMW not for the rider) with average annual servicing

I own a TT600RE and like the look of the new Tenere 660 and this 1200. I also appreciate the refound Yamaha committment to overland machines. I'm not biking as much now as previously but if I get back into it I would definitely go for one of these Yamahas for my next purchase. My TT600RE is tough and reliable except for the headlight, which is poor and gives trouble with blown bulbs for some reason. But I expect these new bikes have much superior electrics.

The bike cannot have a sideways crankcase and a front-to-back engine and still keep up with today's performance demnads.

The pictures clearly show a sideways crankcase specific to a ~45 degress inclined engine. Like that of the old ST.

Wonderful design. That's the off road bike the market needs. The only alternative to the market leaders to bmw gs and ktm adventure. The most beatiful motorbike for the last 10 years. really great. Beautiful colour composition - especially the first ones and those with sponsors. Please sell these designs to yamaha. they build it just like they are on the concept of nici. best bike designer in the class offroad bikes for real men.
