  • Critics putting down Elvis? Why aren't they doing this to today's music artists?

  • look at the face of the guy introducing elvis at 0:24. Thats a 50s WTF moment

  • RIP Jerry Leiber.

  • Nutshell story of Elvis and 'Hound Dog':

Elvis performs in Las Vegas at the New Frontier Hotel in April-May 1956 and sees Freddie Bell & the Bellboys at the Sands who perform 'Hound Dog' (Big Mama Thornton's #1 1953 R&B hit) in a burlesque style. Elvis and the band begin using HD as a show closer in May '56. The Milton Berle Show at NBC Burbank was June 5, '56. The Steve Allen Show at NBC New York was July 1, '56. Elvis records HD July 2, '56 at RCA New York. It hits #1.

  • This had never happened before, for white kids anyway. Rock n Roll meets sex and hair.

  • HOW could dancing like Elvis lead to juvenile deliquency? Man, people in the 50's were such stiffs! :p

  • @freedrugsLACentral what the hell is wrong with you?

  • Elvis was not liked much for 3 reasons 1: rock n' roll was new an not many people liked it at the time 2: during Elvis's time religion mainly christianity saw rock and roll as possibly the devils music and also during that time poeple had to behave but of course since the kings fanbase was mainly women people saw im asa bad example 3: Elvis was if im correct the only youngest singer of his time and so possibly people think that his carrer and everything was just the result of him being young

  • Elvis was horrible look at him. This is one of the worst performances i ever seen no soul with boring vocals awful dancing. Elvis is a joke Im glad Most people are finally waking up from the Elvis brainwashing.

  • Comment removed

  • @freedrugsLACentral He was the one who created the original Rock 'n Roll. He is the reason why our music revolved the way it was. Back then, no one danced in performances, which is why through the beginning of his career they didnt show his waist down because that was considered "inaproppriate" dancing. Be thankful to that "joke".

  • @blahxblahh1 Elvis stole rock n roll from TRUE Rock n roll pioneers like Chuck Berry and Bo diddley. People danced in performances retard Look Up Jackie Wilson or James Brown. Elvis stole all his dancing from another culture the way he moved his hips and the way he moved his feet was invented by African Americans. Only difference is Elvis was a Awful dancer

  • @freedrugsLACentral Musicians don't steal; They are INFLUENCED by other musicians and artists (that's how art has always worked). The 'stealing' was done at the business level: record companies, managers, agents, producers, etc.

  • @freedrugsLACentral Why hate?

  • @freedrugsLACentral Bo Diddley didnt record his first song until 1955, same as Chuck Berry. James Brown didnt record till 1956. Elvis recorded first in July of 1954 and was already making headlines touring the South. Elvis mixed Country and RnB together, because that's what his influences were- they called it Rockabilly in the beginning. Presley always acknowledged his love for RnB and Blues artists-

  • @rbound827 hahahahahaha don't make me laugh. Your ignorance is hilarious Bo Diddley pioneered a new sound for Rock n roll the same with Chuck Berry. Elvis had nothing to do with the sound of what Rock n roll is. Elvis sucked he was just some third rate actor. He is a joke who died on his toilet

  • @freedrugsLACentral I've forgotten more about the history of Rock and Roll than you could ever learn. Chuck Bery and Elvis both took their style by mixing Country music and Blues. Berry was a big fan of Country music, and was not considered a bluesman. His "Maybellene" is a copy of Bob Wills huge country hit "Ida Red" His famouse opening guitar riffs were taken note for note from Louis Jordan's guitarist Carl Hogan. Berry came years after Bill Haley and a year after Elvis did Rockabilly

  • @rbound827 Hound dog was written by WHITE guys, as 90% of all hits in XX century. Chuck Berry had many country hits (I can't stop loving you), didn't he stole white music? N King Cole and L Armstrong had hits written by WHITE people, Aretha Franklin never wrote a hit in her life, same as Whitney, Beyonce, Michael Jackson didn't write his most famous song "Thriller"(could tell you a million famous black artists that never wrote a song)......ENVY is a motherf** black always feel inferior to white

  • @qqsomething Gosh you're a loser.

  • @Seedofwinter why? Because you can't handle some truths? Grow up kid

  • @qqsomething And BTW, real music is hardly words. The most IMPORTANT thing in music is how those words are sung and the rhythm they are sung with. And I have to say, by your logic, black people are "superior" to whites in that regard.

With all seriousness, Whites aren't better than blacks and blacks aren't better than whites at singing. It's all about the individual's abilities, and those abilities aren't genetic.

And Black racism-which does exist-- isn't as bad as White racism 50 years ago.

  • @Seedofwinter ELVIS, The Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin, The BEATLES (need to say more?), The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, Joy Division, New Order, Billy Idol, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl jam....are there any blacks superior in rock music comparing to this white guys? Black sing with soul, but white take that soul beyond....It's a matter of creativity. And black people stole their blues from Irish roots music or do u think Shaka Zulu was singing the blues in Africa?

  • @qqsomething What about Michael Jackson? Highest selling album of all time and he was black. What about Bob Marley? Revolutionized music and is idolized to this day. Marc Anthony makes great music too, but he's latin.

You really shouldn't play these games of race. White people can make beautiful music; black people can make beautiful music; Latin people; yellow people; albino people: whatever shade of people

We are all humans, and our differences are minuscule. 99.99 percent of genes we share

  • @Seedofwinter MJ? Made pop white music, Bob made reggae music, cultural sound in his country, like flamenco in Spain, Fado in Portugal.....and he was successful because he added some American elements to his music. It's not a matter of race question to me, I'm just sick and tired to see the phrase that Elvis stole black music...Elvis was born and raised in black culture, and sincerely, he was better than them all....34 years after his death and still has millions of fans....need I to say more?

  • @qqsomething It isn't about stealing when it comes to music; people learn different techniques from one another. That being said, Elvis incorporated elements of black music into his music. It is something his manager admitted, and it's hardly bad.

You won't give black people any props because you have an agenda here to denigrate African's influence on music because you are a race baiter; I have no time to try to repair such damaged thinking.

So good day and good luck.

  • @Seedofwinter And no, Michael Jackson was white, pedophile....yes made great music, but Elvis 30 years before him, had already run those highroads. Elvis was an original, Michal jackson was not, he imitated James Brown

  • @qqsomething Michael Jackson was black..... he had a condition called "vertigo" that left blotted spots of white all over, so instead of being spotted white, he bleached his entire skin white. This is garden variety knowledge. He probably was a pedophile, but that doesn't subtract from his musical greatness. Michale's thriller video got more views than all of Elvis's combined.

And Elvis was hardly original just because he started incorporating dance into his music.

  • @Seedofwinter Lol, what a supid argument, Justin Bieber "baby" has triple of all MJ videos combined.....so you say, who has more views is the best? lololol asshole

  • @qqsomething Well, yeah. Justin Beiber obviously has skills if he is able to get 1 billion views. And yes, he is more popular than both Elvis and Michael Jackson. The truth tends to hurt

  • @qqsomething The thing about Elvis is that he meant more to folks than come from the 50's and 60's, he doesn't mean anything to today's culture. Today, in this culture, Michael Jackson and Bieber dominate.

Have a good life, man. LOL

  • @Seedofwinter Justin Bieber will be nothing in 10 years from now, Elvis is known from 60 years and his fame is still growing. Hope you'll be alive to check out this statement, Bieber, Gaga, are just fades....don't ever compare them to Elvis, Beatles, Doors or Michael Jackson....you'll make a fool figure out of yourself

  • @qqsomething I don't want to disrespect Elvis because I like his music, and respect his contribution to music, but this generation does not share any sort of bond with him and they won't. It's similar to how you share no bond with the legends of 18th century classical music. Bieber isn't better than Elvis, in my opinion, but the overall opinion sways more towards Bieber than Elvis.

Time will slowly erode even bieber's legend, if he becomes one. Music will evolve, and idols will fade.

  • @Seedofwinter Elvis will never die

  • @Seedofwinter And I don't give a shit what you kids like today, to me just proves that you're all futile......Bieber "Baby"??? Gaga "Bad Romance"??? hip hop???? What makes me happy, and do'nt forget this I'm saying, is that when you get to your 30s you'lll start to understand the real music.....but then your kids will call you square AHAHAHAH

  • @qqsomething Oh really? I wonder how you feel about Mozart and Beethoven and Frederic Chopin? Because those guys are musical Gods of their times and I'm sure you think Elvis ranks above them.

You have an attachment to a guy you grew up watching and that guy will always mean more to your generation than mine or my nieces. Your evinced disdain for other folks' taste in music shows just how narrow minded you are considering musical taste is an opinion.

    Grow up Peter Pan.

  • @Seedofwinter I agree with most of what you said, especially the part about each generation sharing bonds with different artists, but "doesn't mean anything" sound so harsh... of course he still means something to some people, just like classical musicians you mentioned still mean a lot to most classical enthusiasts...

  • @freedrugsLACentral I'll quote one of the top 5 black performers all time, Jackie Wilson: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.".....I guess that says it all right? Elvis grew up among black people, He was as poor as them in Mississippi......don't blame him for having a distinctive style, I never saw a black man dancing sexy as Elvis, so get a grip a give the man his credit

  • @qqsomething Jackie Wilson never said this. It was a quote made up on the internet. Elvis stole his jumpsuit and dance moves from Jackie Wilson. If its true then tell me where and when Jackie Said this. Elvis doesn't have a distinctive style. Look up on George Newborn thats where Elvis got his act from. Blacks invented that kind of dancing it's common knowledge look up a history book.

  • @freedrugsLACentra You what I despise most of all? Ignorants and arrogants like you, who think who know it all the things just because you read somethig on the internet amd belive it, what a fucki'n asshole you are, your really are. Search Bill Belew on google and educate yourself. Search Jackie Wilson/Elvis Presley omm the imternet and you will see what a dumbass you are.........asshole

  • @qqsomething It was a quote made up on the internet Jackie Wilson never said this in public. Elvis copied from him directly. You call me ignorant when you fail to write your first sentence

  • @qqsomething Jackie Wilson wore jumpsuits before Elvis. Elvis is just a copycat he did nothing original at all even in fashion. Jackie Wilson was far superior to Elvis in every way

  • @freedrugsLACentral Sure your 're right! If you ask anyone who's jackie Wilson was they'll answer you "what????"; How about Elvis? "oh, he was the King". Elvis sold one billion and a half records.....but you're the smart one who thinks Elvis was a copycat....How many records sold Jackie Wilson (rest his soul)??? It's not abou onlly the music: it's the atitude, the beautiful looks, the sexy dance(in the 50s considered outrageous)......Elvis had it all, and that's why he was so famous, even today

  • @qqsomething hahahahahahah Elvis didn't sell a billion records all made up by his record company. That "Sexy dance" which was stolen from blacks isn't important. Neither is his supposed good looks (plastic Surgery) Elvis was overrated nuff said. Elvis is no King All of his peers were far superior

  • @freedrugsLACentral Lol comparing Elvis to Jackie Wilson? Are you high, wasted or what? "Elvis is the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century. He introduced the beat to everything, music, language, clothes, it's a whole new social revolution… the 60's comes from it." - Leonard Bernstein......JW had no bif influence like Elvis in XX century.....John Lennon said: "before Elvis, there was nothing!" Elvis was named the artist of the century, XX century, his impact in social culture uniqu

  • @qqsomething Elvis the greatest Cultural force of the 20th Century. HAHAHAH thats hilarious Elvis was a joke. Martin Luther King Malcolm X JFK. Those are important people . Not some stupid overrated singer who died on his toilet a fat obese slob.

  • @freedrugsLACentral JW never said that? Prove it to me, because there's many sites on internet quoting that sentence, and I'm talking about many SERIOUS sites.....if you can find a credible site(forget the racist black ones - yes black people nowadays are more racist against the white ones, than in, the 50s- not credible at all) who can unprove that, I would like to see it......but as I know you will never find, you're a fuckin' liar, probably black, and racist

  • @freedrugsLACentral That's because you're a futile kid who can't place happenings in theyr own place and history.....and plus, your're a fucking corward because you don't have enough courage to show you channel, you made him private "hooo, Im so scared of what they can find me, but I'll still write hate messages here, butr they can't repky to my channel"...........FUCKING COWARD

  • @radarlove2418

Anything Elvis did have copied MJ?? what are you talking about? Elvis could not moonwalke! Elvis could not dance as a robot or as a hip-hop! Look how MJ dancer for Thriller, Beat A, Bille Jean, Dangeorus, Smooth Criminal, You Rock My World, Stranger in Moscow for concerts and other songs .. Elvis has never danced this way! NEVER!

  • here, Elvis is really a king. more than J.Morrison, Jagger...Hendrix, Clapton..Bowie. maybe this is the best stuff of rock. really really great

  • damn 13 people dont know about the legend of rock and roll!! fuck those dislike this video!! long live the king!!

  • Well they claimed you were high class I bet that's it's a lie.

  • The King of Rock is never dead. Elvis is still alive

  • god plz can we trade to u justin bieber and miley cyrus for elvis!

  • The one and only TRUE king of Rock n' Roll!

  • i hav a vid of the top 10 elvis songs come check it out!

  • Great.

  • I'm an extremely big rap and hip-hop fan, but this right here feels the same as listening to rap. Of course it's two completely genres, but musically, I dunno, it just feels right.

  • @rythemandthebeat Right on bro!

  • peace: a story. you are a boss of canteen, it earns money and loads of people work for you. a person arrives and gives thee an incentive, to put sugar instead of curry powder in the food for a while. u take this incentive. did u ever in your entire life consider this before?....what police commissioners of manchesters fault about phone hacking?

  • Thumbs up if you saw it in Forrest Gump!

  • Forest Gump Moves!!! <3 hahaha elvis is just so amazinggggg!

  • and he had himself a guitar!

  • Elvis Presley is God ----> He created the Big Bang

Jimi Hendrix was Jesus Christ ------> And now he's with Elvis to sing together

Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton was the apostles ---------> They followed Jesus Chuck Berry is the pope ----------> He's still living

----- This is not religion, this is ART -----

  • he stole that dance move from Forrest Gump!!!!!!!

  • Elviis Preslyy Is The Kiing Of Rock And Roll'!!!

This song is soooo cathcy learnt it sooo quick!!!

  • right now, 13 people dont know what music is...

  • My name is Elvis :3

  • Song was stolen.

  • @Aaliyahluva33 how's this stolen

  • A clip of this appears on forrest gump. As much as i love Elvis, i think this an appropriate time to say RUN FORRRESSST RUN

  • The comments made after the song is done just shows even Elvis had to put up with some harsh criticism! I don't know how you could criticize this, but from what I remember my grandmother telling me, lots of people saw this as vulgar. :/ Again, I don't know how, but. xD Still, I LOVE this song, this performance, and Elvis all around <3

  • Luv u Elvis!!! U mi hero!!

  • "I guess The King made one to many Records"

  • @ColombianStallion no Elvis, no rock and roll - John Lennon; without Elvis, none of the rest of us would have made it - Buddy Holly....the one, the only, King of rock and roll, and greatest performer there ever was, or will be....no one can match ELVIS

  • @ITILII AHhhh bullshit, without the blues from Black America there would never have been an Elivs. He would have been picking cotton for the remainder of his life while being married to his 1st cousin or possibly his sister like all crackers were in the south at that time.

  • @ITILII he wasnt the king of rock n roll, he's a bit over rated, the reason he was so popular and loved was because he was white and during those times racism was a big issue, there were many black blues musicians that were way better than elvis, they just werent popular cause of their skin color and without them, no elvis

  • @mrbunsen1 nice1:?

  • OH FOR FUCK SAKE! How could i have missed the 1900's to live in the shitty 2000's when there was legends like Elvis is the 1950's, who have we got to look up to really... Lady Gaga?-_- If only i was born earlier! :@

  • @TheFlutification no, you are not alone

  • @765483 yay! serioously though, he is awsome

  • @TheFlutification no you are not!:D

  • @TheFlutification I'm 15 and I can't get enough of this stuff, I love all the classics from 1910-all the way to 70's hell even 80's, and unlike the majority of my age group(unfortunately) we hear garbage like Lady Gaga, or Kesha, like seriously how did it go from Frank sinatra to Lady Gaga?!?!, anyways no you are not alone, just because they're classics doesn't mean it's ment for certain age groups, it's good to see that at least some children my age have common sense to listen to this stuff.

  • @BBxTerra i REEEAAAAAALLY dont like lady gaga and kesha's just..... kesha is her own adjective. just- ugh! I love this song though

  • haha why did the guy hit elvis' hair in the beginning, @0:05

  • have you notice that ELVIS and LIVES is spelled in the same letters?

    ELVIS LIVES!!!!!!

  • @Ratcaller I assume she had to be high to fuck you.

  • @ittdust She was, Amazing I tell you :D

  • 11 people were Hound Dogs...

  • 11 people dont have soul for music!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahh hes soo hot

  • The dance step its funny, I tried to dance like him. :D

  • This exemplifies the pure inception of rock n'roll. Just a guitar, a bass and a drum. No pre-recorded lipsync. No multi-tracking. Just live & raw. What's more, you see how much he was having fun with it, playing with the audience. Even the recorded studio version, which is nothing but raw high energy, was recorded with all the instruments, and the best one take demo was chosen. And it was this pure rawness that inspired countless music legends: Lennon, Buckingham, Knopfler, Clapton, etc.

  • @michaelfr613 Hell Yeahh my dude!!! :)

  • @michaelfr613 The LEGENDARY one and only KING of rock and roll, just pure raw performing talent....not to mention the legends backing him up - Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D.J. Fontana.....I know, it's only rock and roll....but we all LOVE it !!!!

  • Elvis is alive and haters gonna hate. What The hell! he's the best no matter who's famous now. Elvis = legend.

  • @freeman36567 me too! xDD

  • Elvis - One and Only for all time!

  • whats all this shit about white and black......Elvis was an entertainer, pure and simple....Elvis transcends all barriers.

  • @lolita88ism That's 100% racist!! You should be ASHAMED!! You're so SILLY you can't see anything!!

  • The original versions are always better than cover versions. Rock and roll Music is black music and nobody does it better than they do. That´s the point! ok!. Dont´t try to argue with me!

  • @willpn100 This is the best version of Hound Dog. And it was written by two white men called LIEBER and STROLER who also wrote Jailhouse Rock for Elvis. Just because Moma Thorton sang it first plus she was a black woman doesnt meant it was better ! Lol The truth isnt decided on a majority vote. LOL . To this day nobody can sing the songs Elvis sang like Elvis Presley. Love Me Tender, Crying In The Chapel, Don't Be Cruel... This man was VERSATILE more than any singer in history.

  • @willpn100 Rock n Roll music is ELVIS' music and nobody does it better than HIM. Don't try to argue with me. It's sad that you have to turn it into a racial thing. Elvis did this song better than any white man, black man, asian man, latino man..... I think you get my point. It's about talent, not race.

  • Heavy stuff right here...

  • My father was very lucky being able to live and see him i always get mad him for that but its just luck i guess

  • can you believe that kind of dancing was considered controversial XD

  • when some one says taylor swift I say Elvis if you say justin beiber I say green day.

Most music now days does ot change melodys its just the same song with differnt lyrics

  • @NikoDiAngelo wtf
