Hmm ! Axl had stage fright just like Jim Morrison which not too many people knew that, but when he got over the fear he did a fantastic show, at times traffic jam, slash has held up the band getting onstage from the band trying to sobber him up so he could stand up, cancelling shows, Axl is a singer and throat problems how is he suppose to sing, and there were some shows cancelled from slash and Duff being ill. Axl cares alot about his fans even slash has said that.
Yea, that's it, stage fright. Axl is very talented, but the fact is he is very egotistical and had the wrong people around him feeding his ego and drove him away from the band itself. He wasn't a part of the band anymore. He viewed it all as HIS show. Axl thinks that anyone can go out there and play as long as he sings the songs. Where would Guns be without the killer riffs? I think he forgets who came up w/ the core elements to the songs that made G'n'R.
They were all talented. When Izzy left from the stress of big crowds and not wanting to be committed even from the firdt place things started going down hill. GN'R was a powder keg ready to blow ay any time .Yes, Axl had stage fright and it's in one of these reviews Axl wasn't the only one with an ego. slash comes back from his Snakepit project and tries to take over Guns.
Axl wasn't pulling away from the band and if you forgot, he was on 2 yr. probation because of the St. Louis bit so he had to stay away from trouble period and being by himself kept him out of problems besides her fiance was with Axl alot also, Stephine Seymore and I'm sure she didn't want to share a rooms with the band let alone the rest of the band bringing their wives.

Duff is starting to talk about things of what has happened and defending Axl. As Duff commented, they were drunk and doing drugs ad Axl wasn't which made it difficult for Axl and as Duff has said when your on drugs and booze you don't look at things realistically. Duff has said it wasn't Axl's fault the band started falling apart.

How can slash really remember anything. He was drugged up and drunk almost 24-7 to where when there were photo shoots someone had to be behind slash to hold him up and Guns were late getting on stage from the band trying to sobber slash up enough to even be able to perform cuz he'd be passed out on the backstage floor.

One, I never said Axl was an Angel or slash either but if your throat is sore, sorry, ya can't sing and I know that. Ya can't be healthy from catching colds from the weather changes and climate change from touring. If he was told he isn't going on stage from his throat specialist, he doesn't go on stage because it would strip his vocal cords. Alot of bands have done the same thing as Axl and The Rolling Stones are one of them and AC/DC, ect.
@pinkpanther446 - none of those bands listed, nor any other major bands have ever gone on late, kept their fans waiting, and had shows cancelled last minute more often than GnR has. Major reason for that = Axl. None of them were Angels, but it also takes a whole BAND to succeed, not just a guy speaking through management to his "minions" as to what he wants and then get pouty when it doesn't happen his way.
Just like a child, it's always easier to tell lies about someone else than to tell the truth about themseleves because as long as the younger generation don't know, slash thinks it won't hurt them but the only thing is, if the younger generation would ask someone who lived the era, finding out the truth that all slash has done is lie and that's gonna hurt them, not slash cuz he made money off of them if they bought his book and slash is all about money.

Axl is all about being a big douche and touring around w/ his solo act that he calls "Guns N Roses". He can't sing anymore....but Slash can still play....
If slash can still play, opps, Guns N' Roses are out there rocking the world. Where's slash ? How many lead singers he has gone through now and blammed them. Duff is touring with his band this year and making another album. Izzy is off doing his thing and so is Matt. Axl sings fantastic today and the recent concerts proves it.
Duff is slowly starting to talk about things of the past and what has really gone on and defending Axl. When Duff had his surgury from pancreodict problems, Axl flew from L.A. to Seattle to visit Duff and spent some time with him during his recovery cuz Duff was alone at the time and Axl was the only one who showed him any compassion and concern of his recovery and helped Duff out during his need. Robert John has said that slash always gave him an uneasy feeling about everything.
I have said alot before that ong "Sorry" came out on the Chinese Democracy album. I've heard alot of what is in slash's book and there is some truth and there still is alot of lies in that book. Nobody may know that slash has gone public about the lies he has told that it was done out of spite and slash wanted to clear the air and that Axl didn't react to slash's public worship like he thought Axl would react, but Axl didn't react to public war.

I don't feel it's all about slash either. It's about a whole lot of things that had happened because Axl has moved on and isn't going to revolve his world today around slash. Axl has a band now that are willing to play music to get them where they are going. I have to look at things in a positive way. Dizzy, he has been with Guns for 20 yrs. now and he is a very outspoken person.If he would of felt everything was Axl's fault, he wouldn't be with Gun's today.
@pinkpanther446 - the only reason Dizzy is with Guns is because Axl hand picked him to be there. Do you know anything? So why would Dizzy leave when he was given a dream situation to be in? Dizzy is just as much as a hired-on as the other members sans-Axl. It's just that he's been there longer and was the first "hired-on".
Velvet Revolver is more Guns N Roses than "GnR" is now.
VR's music too stuck in the past. Time has changed and so has music. Dizzy didn't have to be there if he didn't want to be because he has his own side project also. slash, Duff and Steven were also hired to replace Tracii Guns, Ole' and Rob which makes them the 2nd line up. Izzy and Axl are the originals from the start. Matt was hired by slash and Gilbey filled in for Izzy till the tour ended in 1993.

Yes, I guess, in theory, Slash, Duff, & Steven were the 2nd lineup, BUT, they were ALL the main reason why GnR became as popular as they were. Slash & Duff are just as much of GnR as Axl is. It's a shame that we can't ever see that again.
Believe me, I haven't forgot Guns when they first came out and it just seemed they had one hit right after another. There isn't one song by Guns of yesterday or today that I don't like. I was lucky when I was younger to had been able to had seen Guns. At that concert not one thing went wrong and it was awesome. I do really like their classics but sometimes it is nice to hear something different once in a while. I still listen to the classic music of Guns alot.
I gave you a break and the original line up were, Izzy, Axl, Tracii, Ole' and Rob. slash, Duff and Steven are replacements and any Guns fan know that. Axl and Izzy were the only two left from the original line up.

I guess everybody has a right to their own feelings about things. You look at it one way and I look at it another. I do know that Izzy did have some songs with the lyrics and the rythum before new memebers had to be hired.
i would argue that the original lineup consists of Duff, izzy, steven, slash and axl thats the recognized lineup the quintissential group. The band members themselves even say this and they all knew one another before GNR. GNR was the meeting point of all these talented musicians in their careers and lives. and if izzy, axl, tracii, ole and rob are the "original lineup" and duff and steven are replacements where does slash fit in?

i guess technically you are correct but in terms of everyday applicability of the original lineup most people will be referring to the slash, duff, izzy, steven, axl one, agree to disagree
@Pop2Lock I'm not bashing Slash, he's a great guitarist but knowing the truth that has come out over the last five years was a hard pill to swallow knowing I saw the AFD line up in concert and would I love to see this line up back together, who wouldn't, but too much has been said and done and words can't be taken back so I opened my heart and opened my mind that life goes on !

@trulysarcastic Ole' did only one gig and left the band. Duff was hired. Duff, Axl, Rob, Tracii & izzy played at 2 gigs known as Gn'R with banners and tickets and Duff was calling around to set up more gigs but had to cancel them because Tracii and Rob went back to L.A. Guns. That's when Slash and Steven came in. The problem was for Slash, him and Steven wanted Axl to be frontman for their band, Roadcrew. After the 1st Gn'R album Slash wanted out of the band, years later he did leave the fans.
@trulysarcastic Salsh wanted his own band, not to be in someone elses and the way things worked out isn't what Slash wanted and he wasn't happy and didn't like the music. He wanted Axl to be frontman in his band. Slash refused to play Sweet Child O' Mine till he was given an ultamaidem from the manager to do it or quit. Slash stated that he stuck it out for 10 years. I know when I heard that, I couldn't believe my ears that Slash never really wanted to be in Guns N' Roses.
It's called keep your mouth shut, look and listen and check out certain sights that are posted in front of vids to look at. Also Rolling Stone daily does articles on a constant bases and Duff does a colum twice a week about the past.
slash can suck a dick that's for sure at least Duff had enough guts to apologize to Axl which is more than I can ever say about slash who thinks he's such an Angel and does nothing wrong. One great thing about Axl, when Chinese came out it was a whole new sound not like VR and Snakepit still sounding as the old Guns.
*If you stop and actually listen to the music, you will discover that it took a lot more than Axl to create those awesome G'n'R songs that we all know and love.

It honestly hurts that such a great band will not be together anymore - short of a miracle. I count myself lucky to have seen them in 1992 when they were at their peak. But Axle has issues - as the band did, but more than anyone else. Such a shame that talent like that falls apart. The Police part two - without the reunion!
velvet revolver and the new guns cd are great. the two best albums that have been put out there this decade. you can see the differences in style between slash and duff opposed to axl's "GNR". in a more simplistic way a putting it slash and duff are more rolling stones while axl is more beatles. think about it. it make sense.

Actually it didn't make a difference. When Guns was signed, David Geffen was there when they all signed the contracts and he didn't have a clue who Slash was xD. He didn't find out later till he called Slash's mom and found out he had just signed him to his label. It says so in Slash's book.
axl wanted to play tyrant and the rest didn't want to deal with him no-more. Apparently mediocre music takes 14 years to make as was the case. Btw Matt sorum did do most of the drumming on UYI I and II and Spaghetti Incident, he did play a big part in the band and was around when it broke up in 1994-97

Sorum needs to shut the fuck up. I'm not trying to make it seem like Guns N' Roses fate was their fault but you can't pin it all on Axl. He never asked them to leave, that was their choice so, technically, you did give up. Axl is a perfectionist. He's made it obvious through the delay between album releases and whatnot and Slash is, like me, in a way, wants to get the shit out there because he wants it to be heard. They were two different guys and frankly a good thing never lasts.

Duff is touring with his band this year and making another album. Izzy is off doing his thing and so is Matt. Axl sings fantastic today and the recent concerts proves it.

Duff is slowly starting to talk about things of the past and what has really gone on and defending Axl. When Duff had his surgury from pancreodict problems, Axl flew from L.A. to Seattle to visit Duff and spent some time with him during his recovery cuz Duff was alone at the time and Axl was the only one who showed him any compassion and concern of his recovery and helped Duff out during his need. Robert John has said that slash always gave him an uneasy feeling about everything.

I have said alot before that ong "Sorry" came out on the Chinese Democracy album. I've heard alot of what is in slash's book and there is some truth and there still is alot of lies in that book. Nobody may know that slash has gone public about the lies he has told that it was done out of spite and slash wanted to clear the air and that Axl didn't react to slash's public worship like he thought Axl would react, but Axl didn't react to public war.

I don't feel it's all about slash either. It's about a whole lot of things that had happened because Axl has moved on and isn't going to revolve his world today around slash. Axl has a band now that are willing to play music to get them where they are going. I have to look at things in a positive way. Dizzy, he has been with Guns for 20 yrs. now and he is a very outspoken person.If he would of felt everything was Axl's fault, he wouldn't be with Gun's today.

Dizzy is just as much as a hired-on as the other members sans-Axl. It's just that he's been there longer and was the first "hired-on".
Velvet Revolver is more Guns N Roses than "GnR" is now.

VR's music too stuck in the past. Time has changed and so has music. Dizzy didn't have to be there if he didn't want to be because he has his own side project also. slash, Duff and Steven were also hired to replace Tracii Guns, Ole' and Rob which makes them the 2nd line up. Izzy and Axl are the originals from the start. Matt was hired by slash and Gilbey filled in for Izzy till the tour ended in 1993.

Yes, I guess, in theory, Slash, Duff, & Steven were the 2nd lineup, BUT, they were ALL the main reason why GnR became as popular as they were. Slash & Duff are just as much of GnR as Axl is. It's a shame that we can't ever see that again.

Believe me, I haven't forgot Guns when they first came out and it just seemed they had one hit right after another. There isn't one song by Guns of yesterday or today that I don't like. I was lucky when I was younger to had been able to had seen Guns. At that concert not one thing went wrong and it was awesome. I do really like their classics but sometimes it is nice to hear something different once in a while. I still listen to the classic music of Guns alot.

i would argue that the original lineup consists of Duff, izzy, steven, slash and axl thats the recognized lineup the quintissential group. The band members themselves even say this and they all knew one another before GNR. GNR was the meeting point of all these talented musicians in their careers and lives. and if izzy, axl, tracii, ole and rob are the "original lineup" and duff and steven are replacements where does slash fit in?

Duff, Axl, Rob, Tracii & izzy played at 2 gigs known as Gn'R with banners and tickets and Duff was calling around to set up more gigs but had to cancel them because Tracii and Rob went back to L.A. Guns. That's when Slash and Steven came in. The problem was for Slash, him and Steven wanted Axl to be frontman for their band, Roadcrew. After the 1st Gn'R album Slash wanted out of the band, years later he did leave the fans.

@trulysarcastic Salsh wanted his own band, not to be in someone elses and the way things worked out isn't what Slash wanted and he wasn't happy and didn't like the music. He wanted Axl to be frontman in his band. Slash refused to play Sweet Child O' Mine till he was given an ultamaidem from the manager to do it or quit. Slash stated that he stuck it out for 10 years. I know when I heard that, I couldn't believe my ears that Slash never really wanted to be in Guns N' Roses.

It honestly hurts that such a great band will not be together anymore - short of a miracle. I count myself lucky to have seen them in 1992 when they were at their peak. But Axle has issues - as the band did, but more than anyone else. Such a shame that talent like that falls apart. The Police part two - without the reunion!

velvet revolver and the new guns cd are great. the two best albums that have been put out there this decade. you can see the differences in style between slash and duff opposed to axl's "GNR". in a more simplistic way a putting it slash and duff are more rolling stones while axl is more beatles. think about it. it make sense.

Actually it didn't make a difference. When Guns was signed, David Geffen was there when they all signed the contracts and he didn't have a clue who Slash was xD. He didn't find out later till he called Slash's mom and found out he had just signed him to his label. It says so in Slash's book.

Btw Matt sorum did do most of the drumming on UYI I and II and Spaghetti Incident, he did play a big part in the band and was around when it broke up in 1994-97

Sorum needs to shut the fuck up. I'm not trying to make it seem like Guns N' Roses fate was their fault but you can't pin it all on Axl. He never asked them to leave, that was their choice so, technically, you did give up. Axl is a perfectionist. He's made it obvious through the delay between album releases and whatnot and Slash is, like me, in a way, wants to get the shit out there because he wants it to be heard. They were two different guys and frankly a good thing never lasts.
