  • My Name sake, William J. wagener 1839-1878 was Door County , Wis. Sheriff and died from gangrene after being shot 3 years into his 1st term.

  • @williamjwagener Do you remember Angel Remirise AKA the rail road killer from Mexico. It was NOT the CIA or the FBI who got him it was a TEXAS RANGER. They deserve our respect.

  • star fish, tony from aussie reckons you sound like a good bloke, will meet you and have a beer and listen to marty Robbins one day

  • @11Formation Hi Toney. Thank you for visiting my video. Here in the US you call women like me who ride train horses ect TOM BOYS, isn't there a term for it there too. ( Jillaroos or Shelas ) ? I don't drink alchol, but I do like ROOT BEER. It would ba a pleasure to meet you.I almost can not hear this song without crying. Just before he died my son sent me this song, and said he loved it.The part he wanted me to pay attention to was that the OLD RANGER was BLIND.

  • Those Texas Rangers get the job done. In 1909, some cut throt grop of horrable murderous gang, came to Oklahoma, from Texas, and murdered a rancher here. As soon as the word got around, it was a TEXAS RANGER who brought them in. I don't think people actually realize they were the FIRST, and BEST law inforcement the US had, and still has.

  • I live in a small town in Oklahoma, and WOW, those Texas Rangers deserve all of the recognization they get. in 1909 a ( gun for hire ) named Dan Scribner shot and murdured local policeman Zeke Putnam. It was a TEXAS RANGER who found and arrested Dan Scribner and brought him to Justice, --- hats off to you TEXAS RANGERS.

  • Big Iron was about an Arizona Ranger who came to Texas to look for El Paso Red. Interestingly enough, El Paso Red was a character in another Robbins song called Pride and the Badge.

  • @kevinkzac The Pride and the Badge part is true, but in BIg Iron, the Arizona Ranger was in search of an outlaw who was known as Texas Red.

  • @code2high The thanks go to my dear son, who found this song just less than a month before he died, and sent it to me, -even at 61 I still learn new things.

  • @code2high Thank you for the coment. Sadly the one who brought the song to my attention was my son on Christmas 2008 less than a month before he died. He loved this song, so this is a tribute to all of them - The Texas Rangers - Marty Robins- and my Son. THANK YOU ALL, Have you heard Big Iron code2high? It is a song about the SAME Texas ranger, and that was my Daddys favorite.

  • Just when I thought I had heard all of Marty's great tunes, I uncover another golden nugget! Thanks Starfish!

  • @ACDOG16 - so very ture. Who do they think caught ( Angel Remeriz ) I can not spell, so please forgive my poor spelling, The RAIL ROAD KILLER from Mexico? It was NOT the CIA - or FBI, - NO it was the Texas Rangers. Anyone who does not appricate them is brain dead. - My son found this song just less than a month before he ( Gulf War Vet ) died,if it was good enough for him, it is good enough for me too. - That is WHY I made this tribute. Thank you for your coment.

  • The one person who disliked this has no idea about how much the Rangers mean to this nation, especially in the south-west. That one person who disliked this doesnt know what the true meaning of the law is, and how it started. Cowboys and Rangers were some of the first peace keepers in this nation, and they will always be remembered.

  • one of the greatest story tellers ever

  • thank you cowgirlmoon. I can't listen to this song without tears coming to my eyes. It was this time of year in 2008 when my son sent me the link to this song., then On anuary 10th 2009 he was dead. He knew he was dying, so you can see why this song makes me cry. Appricate the imput.

  • @starfish50 , I'm so sorry for your loss...... Sending prayers, honoring your son. Highest Blessings.

  • @cowgirlmoon thank you dear. Marty Robbins had so many great songs, and they all told a story, something that is missing in muslic now a days.

  • Yes sparks195 There will never be another Marty Robbins. There is not one of his songs I do not love. - Today what they call music does nothing but hurt my ears, and does not tell a true story about anything at all. We a re all the worse off without Marty Robbins. My Daddy had his favorite Marty Robbins song it was ( Big Iron ), unless I am mistaken it was about a Texas Ranger also.

  • Starfish, you did a lovely job with this slideshow. I love these old pix and of course, Marty Robbins! Good job.

  • @cowgirlmoon - It was one of these brave Texas rangers who captured The Rail Road Killer. The tracks were so close to my house it rattled the windows and Doors. Thanks to Drew Carter, I could relax for the first time since that horrable man began his killling spree. Yes Drew Carter was a Texas Ranger. I lived in Fort Worth Texas,-- So I have a lot of respect for those brave men and women.

  • can you please tell me what the track is actually called I just love it David

  • I completly agree with all good that has been said I have NEVER heard this & I am a Marty Robbins fan.... well done love the vid thanx for doing it....David L

  • One of the finest groups of "God's Guardians" ever formed....The Texas Rangers,

the museum is Waco is a wonderful shrine to those that served the Great State of Texas so well.

  • I think the slideshow was better than any slick studio video could have been

  • @fayso1332 thank you so much, you all are so kind.

  • as i came from a long line of texas rangers i love this song and i am a texas ranger as well

  • A Brilliant tribute from an exceptional Entertainer.

    Officer at Law Retired

    Scotland

  • A fine tribute to your Son and the legendary Texas Rangers

  • i only heard this song a few days ago & i love it, no one sung this type of song like marty robbins...

& you done a great job with this video, it's one of the best i'v seen on youtube, well done

  • Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. You are right, no one could sing a western song like Marty Robbins, they were not just songs but true stories. And those brave Texas Rangers deserve our respect. If not for them the RAIL ROAD KILLER Angel Remeraz would not of been caught. I had not heard this song until just a month before my son told me about it, he loved it, so this video is my memorial to him also.

  • This was posted by my son when he saw the video, so thankful he saw it before he died _akia0812162 -I love this song

  • As a deputy sheriff who got his start in TX my heart goes out to you and your family.

  • Thank you so much, and thank you for your work in LE. without people like you, this nation would be in real trouble.

  • AMEN starfish50! I served 25 years in law enforcement! God Bless you ma'am and the memory of your proud son! Stay safe!

  • @7lloyd777 thank you, and thank you for your ob in LE, It is this time of year again when my son brought this song to my attention. Christmas is suposed to be one of the happiest times of the year, but I am now 60 years old, and each year at this time, it reminds me that my son is gone now, when he was only 335 years old. He said he did not regret getting Gulf War syndrome that he wanted to serve this nation, sounds like the 2 of you have a lot of the same moral figer.

  • i too want to extend my condolences on your son's passing. God bless you and bring you peace. loved the video and the music. marty robbins is my favorite singer of all time.

  • we need em to get that Mayor David Dorman in the City of Melissa befor he ruins a whole town.

  • Texas Rangers, like all law enforcement officers are the best, they make our American way of life possible.

  • So true,so very true. I grew up Hearing Mraty Robbins sing Big Iron. I would hate to think what this nation would be like without the Texas rangers.

  • hi i love this song but did bill kill sundown or did he miss him "old bill didnt know in front of him sundown did

  • Listen closley to the song. It says from the looks of it Old Bill did not know that before him laid Sundown dead. I for one believe when Sundown stoped talking and Bill's gun fired he KNEW sundown lay dead. Thank you for watching and comenting.

  • This is a great video and Marty Robbins is an amazing talent. If anyone has a problem with the Texas Rangers feel free to throw your two cents my way. If people would visit the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco they might get an education into the history and bravery of these men of all races who went up against amazing odds to make Texas a safe Country and later a state in the United States.

  • Thank you for your coments. I am 58 and had never heard this beautiful song about the Texas Ranger. Just 1 month before his death my 35 year old son found this song sent it to me,and I felt an oblligation to Marty Robbins, The brave Texas Rangers and my deacesd son to make this video as my tribute to them. Thank you again.

  • Thank you so much, that means so much to me,coming from you, it is a great honor that you watched my video.

  • Graet song

  • Don't disrespect Marty Robbins with your liberal propaganda, you are a minority on this post.

  • I watched this video and listned to the song. This is about the Texas Rangers. Do you even know anything about the Texas Rangers in the US. What does religion have to do with the Texas Rangers?

  • Goddess the person who posted that deragatory coment to me probably does not know anything about the Texas Rangers. Most Muslims living in Islamic nations do not know about them. Maby some day they will learn what true heros these brave men and women are.

  • why has this masterpiece not been on more albums , up there with the best , a great tribute to your son Starfish

  • I wish I knew. I have listned to Marty Robbins all my life and had never heard this song befor. Just before his death my dear 35 year son found this song and brought it to my attention, because he loved it so much. So I made this as a tribute to Marty Robbins,The Texas Rangers and and in memory of my dearley beloved ( now deceased son ) Thank you for commenting on it.

  • Finally, in all of its haunting beauty, Marty's underappreciated masterpiece.

  • I love this song

  • For those who watch this Video ( akia0812162 ) is my son,he posted this coment to me ( his mother ) on January 6th 2009,then on January 10th 2009 he died. So anyone wishing to hate me for making this video TOO BAD. I wanted my son to know how much I loved him,and this let him know. I MISS MY SON so very much.

  • sorry to hear about the death of your son, love the song and vid. thanks

Your son would be proud of you.

  • Oh thank you for watching it. I sure do hope my son would be proud. At least he got to see it on you tube before he died, It was so heart breaking loosing such a young son at 35 years of age. Thank you for watching the video and comenting on it. very much appricated.
