  • oh my gosh I know what you mean about the shiny suits!!! I see those all the time in korean drama and it's horrible looking.

  • Im korean, i live in canada and ppl in canada stop in the middle of a hallway too.

i mean such behaviour isn't about the culture, it's about whether that particular individual was considerate or not. LOL

  • if you've lived in korea for 3 years you should be able to speak some korean by now(a couple of korean words you mentioned are just wrong) and discuss them with koreans. and everywhere its different(it should be) and they have their own way of living a life. doesnt mean you can't say their problems but instead of 'why? i dont get it' try to interact with the locals. why do all these americans go to korea only to run around with americans if they're unwilling to/incapable of adapting to a differe

  • @couroxy You're an idiot. I can speak decent Korean. I love Korea. I love it here.

  • Are u there because u don't have a choice? If you don't like the Country why not pack up and leave?Sounds like you're not enjoying your stay!

  • @dlh127kor Ughhh.. I love it here. Don't I have the right to not understand some things about a culture. Thanks for the comment on the other video.

  • @GHIMIN1 Absolutely! Two different worlds... Thanks.

  • don't know what to tell you. I only know of one type of soup that smells odd but tastes really good. Forgot the name though.

Are you in Korea for long? I've never been.

  • @ejasonrichmond I've been here for almost four years.

  • First, about the smelly milk, I have no idea. Second, food served not hot is bad sign. I watch Korean News and I see people get food poisoned a lot. Third, you are the worst dresser in this video and you are in Korea not in U.S. Maybe you ought to think about how they'll think of how you dress. Fourth, I agree with you. I am Korean and it's annoying as hell how they lack awareness in public. Lastly, foreigners who like K-pop music fall in love with it before they even come to Korea. Good luck.

  • Thanks for your valuable white dude perspective. Do you realize you were complaining about Koreans being inconsiderate and not minding other people in public, when YOU were ridiculously rude by recording yourself surrounded by a rush of Korean people, talking shit about them loud and clear as if no one else was around you. Many Koreans understand English, dummy.

  • @lynnk78 Wasn't talking shit. You're hearing what you want to hear. And if they were to be curious enough to confront me, I would explain myself. I'm sure they would understand if they were open minded.

  • That's the milks natural odor. It's probably just pasterized or whatever, but yes, natural milk has a strong odor to it.

  • Interesting videos, what's your understanding of the Koreans' growing bizarre obsession with Christianity? I find that to be the one thing I don't understand about that country.

  • @jukeboxbaby1 - Many colleges you see were built by missionaries and there were many persecution during Japan's annexation that caused the 'fire' to burn hotter there.

  • You mentioned shiny suits and what I think of is they're definitely still around today (maybe not as much) because I went to SMTown NYC (Kpop concert) and Super Junior wore shiny suits for a few songs and I also remember Donghae and Eunhyuk's new song Oppa Oppa on many of their live videos they are wearing shiny suits. On the topic of Kpop not everyone comes there and gets into it there; I'm in America, I love kpop, and I've never been out of the country tho I do hope to study abroad in Korea.

  • Someone commented about how kpop idols are a product, but isn't every song and "idol" a product? Don't get me wrong, I spend a good amount of time dancing and singing kpop (Super Junior.. Ahem) like a banshee, the songs can be fun and addicting with cool dances, but the point is that they're showcasing their voice, apperance and chreography/mvs as a product. In the end they still want you to buy it right? Unless they're an artist like sentimental scenery they're out to sell an image.

  • @AzureAlchemistEllia I think they mean when people join their own groups and make their own music. A product is a group that is put together and controlled by a manager or company.

  • natural milk smell but, you are used to milk with a lot of chemicals in them, my fired said that when he was young and visited his grandma in the kibuz\village he heated the milk though he is crazy about milk .

number two, could food his more healthy , also i heard that people in the far east think that you should taste the natural food, without a lot of tempering .

shiny clothes probably for getting attention, like tite clothes in the west.

    that's just my thoughts .

  • useless video. this guy talks about older men wearing shinny suit yet, there are numerous older men in the background in his own fucking video without shinny suit. its like me saying i see black people with baggy pants and why is that? when we all know not all black people wear baggy pants. then this guy bitches about luke warm food. even at my favorite restaurant, they dont get it right all the time. some times, i get it warmer than usual. it happens ya dumb son of a bitch.

  • @kimaste he said he doesn't really see it anymore. I'm American and I've never been served warm water...I got to stop reading the comments lol

  • okay first ive never been to Korea. and i don't know much about Koreans. though I am Asian. Thai to be more specific. and ive been to most of Asian countries. it seems like people stop whenever and wherever they want here as well. I think its more of Asian thing. i think its because most of the time. when we walk with our friends or even by ourselves we dont really pay attention to our surroundings. its not that we want to be rude and stand in your way. we dont really think of things like that

  • 1. Milk.. I don't know..

    2. We love the food as it is. Hot or cold. But some food are meant to be served cold(or not hot), some hot.

    3. Old man are weird and they think they know fashion(my dad as well).

    4. Think of it as an obstacle. You MUST reach your goal no matter what.

    5. Kpop mainly hypes you up! Just get drunk and dance to it and you'll know.

  • @2sungsung4 lol... for #3, I believe it's a thing you have to get used to always being able to maneuver around without bumping into one of those.

#5 kpop are kids who are trained at a young age to dance, sing, and also come on reality shows, talk shows, etc. who gets into your skin on few of them. So, it's not just about the k-pop songs. Have you seen 'running man'? kpop shows up as guests there.. Hear interviews of some of them who are real ppl.

  • Ever since I started listening to KPop, American pop is so strange to me now lol

Whenever I listen to the radio, everything sounds the same. Its so weird. I mean, of course I still like American pop but I feel like the music is getting way too cocky and artists are thinking we'll like everything they put out so now its just crap. I like KPop because I'm getting effort, variety and choreography with the songs so I can feel cool dancing even though it looks lame when I do it lol

  • I recently found your channel and I appreciate your videos! Keep them coming. I'm an immigrant Korean living in the U.S. and when I miss Korea I often look up videos like yours.

Your 5 Things could have been "weirder". I was looking forward to hearing some bizarre and shocking things about Korea lol.

  • Your five things are quite weird. They don't really sound legit. So you're basically saying that a few older men that you've seen who wore some shiny suits made you think all older men dress in a similar fashion? Also, don't know where you're from but I see people stopping on the streets everywhere they go in America all the time. I have a feeling that you're just very UNCULTURED.

  • @superkoo8 They are legit. Have you ever been to Korea?

  • @durkeeinkorea Yes I have because I'm Korean.

  • @superkoo8 Well then, you're either only hearing what you want to hear out of this video... or you just don't understand what I'm saying. Sorry buddy. You're either ignorant or stupid.

  • @durkeeinkorea To be honest man, I think you're pretty much talking about yourself when it comes to ignorance or stupidity. All I'm saying is that your (five things) are pretty hilarious - of course in a negative sense.

  • @superkoo8 Did you understand what I meant by you only hearing what you want to hear?

  • @durkeeinkorea about the KPOP thing. I think perhaps people who visit are just so thrilled to be somewhere so uniquely different and heavily cultured that when they experience KPOP especially for the 1st time, they'd see it as a trend they feel a desire to be accustomed with and to get into even if it doesn't necessarily fit their taste in music. Personally, I find KPOP or Pop music in general particularly enjoyable because it does fit my taste, favoring more ALL 'Asian' Pop for that matter.

  • @durkeeinkorea What about a FOREIGNER like you trying to UNDERSTAND the culture of Your HOST country.... instead of bitching so much. Don't like Korea or Koreans? Go HOME BUDDY.

  • @RamirezRobertoPerez Never said I didn't like Korea or Koreans. It sucks that you'e one of many in the comments who doesn't understand my point of view. Why don't you check out my video "Five Things I Understand About Korea". I play the other side of the fence.

  • most of milk sold in Korea are lactose free milk. They are similar to the U.S. brand Lactaid milk and they are more expensive. I'm sure it's similar in other East Asian countries because majority of eastern asian people are lactose intolerant. There are few U.S. standard milk sold from brand "Pasteur" so read the label and try that.

  • if u can't hang get out of the game......it's called a major city w/a subway...u must be from Canada or somewhere in the midwest...and like cold cuts don't look and smell funny here? ever consider sk doesn't use all that bs? *smh

  • In the nicer clubs which are in most large hotels. The men wear suits, which I like as an older black man and the women wear sexy dress and skirts. In the bars or not so nice clubs, the guys wear jeans, sneakers and plaid skirts LOL, and the women wear tight sexy skirts and jeans pants. Punk, POP or Hip-Hop is the music of choice if you're looking for folk or country sorry you should move back stateside. Blend in and these things won't bother you as much because its their country not yours.

  • Koreans are not into American grung or hip-hop or western sytles...although the young women do wear cow-girl boots, and skirts, which is so funny. Koreans will bump into you and will not say excuse me, because they are use to living in close cramped quarters, sharing and fighting for everything, i.e, food, space, land. Remember, these people lost everything in the Korean war, but look where they are now. Just think of it as being in NYC on a crowd street with tourist all around you, LOL.

  • Korean tends to be a much better language for expressing emotion compared to English, perhaps that is why people become "infactuated" with K-Pop when they hear it. And about the people stopping infront of you thing, in a densely populated area like a train station, although I don't really want to admit, there is going to be at least a few people who are "in the wrong". The more people there are, the higher chance of one of them doing something wrong.

  • As a Korean, I'll try and respond. First, about the milk, most Korean milks don't remove the fat from the milk and that's what makes it smell so bad. 2% or low fat (저지방) milk smells less, so try buying those. For the food thing, I don't know either. For the shiny suits, old people fashion. For the stopping thing, I've been riding the Seoul subways for like 8~9 years and it's never happened to me so...As for the foreign kpop thing, no idea.

  • Cont. words sound. Also I really, really missed the boy band days in America, so I kinda got attached to the fact that boy bands are still really big in Korea. Another thing is the fashion in the music videos, I like looking at the different concepts and make-up and such. But I must say I do enjoy KPOP videos wayy more than the songs but I actually listen to a lot of non-idol singers too because their instrumentals are very unique I think. and let me just say I DON'T like the cutesy groups :/

  • I know many people are in are talking about the Kpop thing, but I still wanted to put in my two cents. I really do like Korean music and Kpop, but I also agree with you, It is kinda overrated. I mean I'm not Korean but my room has asian boy band posters all over but I am not one of those kpop biased ppl I think it not so much American music being about sex, drugs, blah blah blah because some korean songs talking about that too but I like that I can't understand them sometimes, and I like how

  • well...for some noona kpop fans...

    file:///C:/Users/Public/Pictures/Sample%20Pictures/KPOP.jpg

  • As foreigner liking kpop, i used to not like kpop because of the super catchy meaningless music n lyrics, but as u get to know more than just the popular ones, u'll find that hey it's kinda fun to listen to..i guess i'm just tired of the hip hop, rap music about sex, drugs, partying that they often play on radio these days. Still kpop is not the only thing I listen to, as long as they sounnd good, I'll listen to it.

  • Hey Durkeeinkorea! Point 4, just shove her out of the way! hahaha, road is meant for people not for blockers ^^

  • this might be a stupid question, but does your breath smell like feet too after you drink the 우유 ?? nice video :) i'm a new subscriber!

  • I'm from faraway land in Europe. Reasons why I as non-korean LOVE KPOP - US pop lyrics are all about alcohol, sex, drugs and boobs! They can't dance while singing, mostly don't write their own music and new pop star can be created in 2 days! but Kpop song lyrics are about love, relationship, friends, enjoying life! They dance and sing together like a boss! They are talented in many ways and to become an idol it takes years to achieve this dream! they are artists to look up to!

  • And not all groups (not saying you were implying anything~) have others do all the music production for them :) My favorite group, 2PM, has truly talented singers/dancers and song writers. True, they may not have started out as such. But they work hard to learn. 2 members currently compose/write their own music, while a third has just started learning how. I'm hoping someone's response, if not mine, will help you understand XD since you seem so baffled~

  • ..long time, and because of that, I honestly credit KPop for someone saving me. When I do say KPop I mostly mean SNSD, honestly, but I do enjoy others. But for me, the way you can see SNSD's care for one another and their fans, it really touched my heart. To hear Tiffany speak about how her mother passed away but let her with eight other sisters- that strength she harnessed to get through that at such a young age- really does inspire me and motivate me to work hard. So that's why I love KPop. :)

  • @Jordishness That's how it was with me, but with DBSK although my situation is a tad different mine was due to my dysfunctional family which still isn't fixed but I stand stronger now and try to look forward most of the time :) of course I've changed quite a bit after Kpop but I don't regret it ^^

  • If you're more open to music genres then I think you're more likely to be drawn in by Kpop, like myself. If you stick to one genre or similar genres of music, which seems to usually be indie to some form of rock music, you just don't see the appeal. That's the conclusion I've come to though. Despite the artists rarely writing their own music, they work hard and most are really talented :) The music IS very catchy & made to capture attention. Eventually their personalities make me love them~

  • ..made me kind of 'wake up' and realize that there's so much more to my own life than just my job. I know it's a bit trite to say pop music did that but honestly it did. I watched variety shows and got excited when the groups I loved were having their comebacks, and ultimately, it gave me the inspiration I needed to step out of my comfort zone and quit my job and go back to school to study what I want to do, and pursue my own dreams. The KPop realm made me feel a happiness I hadn't felt in a...

  • I'm one of those people who love KPop (although I'm not in Korea hah), and I do have a reason for it. When I found KPop, I was going through a really difficult time in regards to work situations - I was working at a dead-end job and felt like I was wasting my life. Hearing KPop (specifically SNSD's "Genie," then branching out), I got really inspired, and ultimately, it made me so happy and got me out of my near-depression. The energetic music, the joyous dances, the cutesy aegyo even; it all...

  • I'm not picky when it comes to music, so when I first got into Kpop I loved it what I came across (DBSK, Goong, Se7en, 김정훈) it was so much different from the music I used to listen to back then (I was "punk" and listened to a bunch of rock music and anime OSTs). Nowadays I'll listen to anything, regardless of genre or language ^^ I got sucked into the kpop though haha I listen to a LOT of it, but I still listen to American music as well. I don't see a point to limit to what you listen to ^^

  • "What are you thinking? I could kill you! Not on purpose, of course..." For some reason that made me laugh. Nice video.

  • China is very very similar. I'll do a video response about China if you'd like to see.

  • The reason I love K pop is because it makes me remember the days when the US used to have bands like Nsync and Spice Girls. I like those bands because of the catchy songs and syncrinized dancing. I'll be honest in saying I do not agree on how they make K pop bands in Korea because its like they are a product.

  • I think there is a difference between the music here in the Netherlands and well.. Kpop....

Though I never really thought about what is this difference really... :]

  • i love k pop its just really catchy really cute, idk just love it. i live in us

  • I like K-POP! I's bettr than that Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga mess we have here. Also, it doesn't want to make me eat rice. Yecch, rice.

  • robo 아저씨... very funny! charlycheer is directing people to take a gander at your vid and subscribe. I can hop on this train.

  • Repetition*

  • Kpop was at it's finest from 2004-2008.....now it's all reception.

  • I rather listen to Justin Bieber than any kpop garbage.

  • I like kpop b/c its interesting they can have a whole mini drama series MV on a song or album they created it shows a type of appreciation they have toward fans to go above and beyond rather than just standing there and that's why i can respect kpop i defend it on many incidences when people say "oh your black why do you listen to that shit" i defend it b/c i can appreciate it not to say that they all are like that some are annoying but others aren't

  • Comment removed

  • I don't really know why I like Kpop I started liking it through a Kdrama when I was 9..Stairway to Heaven where I live(Peru)they were popular and I loved how emotional and how beautiful it played out, their OST was my favorite song(more of a ballad) later when I moved to the US I stumbled upon it through some arabic friends and It just caught my eye . I don't have an specific reason why I like it I just do, I love how multi talented they are. Have you given a try to other "Kpop" genres?

  • look at what pop music has generated in north america: justin bieber

  • Man I hated K-pop. The groups get pumped out from a K-pop factory and the videos...oh man. Could they be anymore dramatic? One day I saw a Korean kid who was wearing a Metallica t-shirt and looked like he had spent some time in the West and I wanted to say hello or shake his hand. He was such a HUGE contrast to the typical style you usually see everywhere/everyday. Also, I would see people wearing those shiny suits when it was flippin' hot outside. I didn't get it.

  • I like anything I can shake my ass to. I can shake my ass to ANYTHING.

  • Got interested in Korea from K-pop. The reason I like it is b/c they are not just singing, standing around while some girls do their thang and wearing barely there clothing. They actually entertain me with their awesome dancing skills and choreo. Their looks are a bonus. As for the American pop scene like I said above, that's all I get to see even in a woman's MV. I'm tired of seeing that over and over again. Wanted something different and refreashing. Stubbled upon K-pop by accident and love it

  • how come no one explained why korean serve room temperature food while is supposed to be hot? I'm very curious about that!

  • K-pop? I love Kim Hyun Joong AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (And I was never in Korea...I just love that music =D

  • Well K-pop is different from the pop music in North America, it's more cutesy and not as sexual and there's lots of groupmates usually. And why should that all matter? Maybe people like to talk about how t___ has beautiful hair while c0hong has a hot rap voice, there's different personalities, tastes that a bunch of friends could find someone they like.

    It's also like a para-social relationship.

  • I think some people are scared to like POP music in their home country. There isn't a stigma for listening to KPOP in Korea, so I think people are more accepting of it. My friends would mostly have rock, country, or rap CD, but they always felt like they had to justify the one or two pop CDs to their friends.

  • I know what you mean about the K-pop thing (I'd also add K-dramas)! I've been studying Korean for a few months, but I've never seen a K-drama or listened to more than a handful of K-pop songs. I guess they are just not for me (or I'm not for them). I must say, though, that I really enjoy Korean films. There are some truly excellent Korean movies out there.

btw, I've lived in Chile for 20 years and there are STILL things that I don't get about this country. But, it does get easier to accept. :)

  • For example, here's what I or many Asians friends can't get about Western (North American) culture: 1) Gun control or insistence on right to bear arms. 2) American Portion and Super Size.

    3) Lady Gaga's music videos. 4) American fast food which are disgusting if you know what's init yet many Americans find our food gross and weird. 5) Frivolous Lawsuits (US in particular)

  • @Xentradi97 Oh and the flannel shirts or checker shirts and goat T. What's the deal Durkee? Are Lumberjacks popular in North America?

  • Walking and stopping and pushing and shoving are indeed annoying. This isn't all that uncommon in other countries though. Usually in big massively crowded cities this seems to be the form. And as for Kpop, again it's a preference. And why not? Explain to me why Justin Bieber is so popular. And what about the Twilight Saga? There's alot about Western culture that Koreans and Asians can't understand also. You might want to ask them about it. Might be an interesting comparison.

  • Are you sure it wasn't a milk that expired its freshness? I never experienced feet smelling milk. Well, milk quality overall (Cheese for that matter) isn't the same as Western ones because Koreans do not consume them as much and has a shorter history with it. Koreans never drank milk till it modernized. Shiny suit is called FAD Durkee. I'm sure you have those where you come from. Like the North American grunge look which most Koreans would not find fashionable at all.

  • way to talk and walk!! by the way, did you miss the memo that in korea every day is shiny suit day?

  • why do people love k pop?? i think its because its fun , addicting ,and cute :)

  • @tochjo772 That's deep.

  • @durkeeinkorea Wow, what a douchie answer... o.O Music doesn't always have to be deep. While I like all kinds of music, sometimes music with more meaning comes off as emo/annoying when I just wanna be in a good mood. Also, even though i'm not a conservative person and I do realize that all pop sells even a little bit of sex, kpop is still refreshing compared American pop... I watched some late 90's vids last night that I loved when I was 16ish and I immediately felt the difference between them.

  • @durkeeinkorea (cont.) IMO kpop has an old school pop feeling with modern pop... more like a 60's/70's work ethic (kpop idols work ridiculous hard), sometimes even a 60's/70's sound.... look at "Nobody" - Wondergirls, "Roly Poly" - T-ara and listen to the instrumentals of Kara's "Lupin" or Infinite's "Be Mine" -- those instrumentals probably came directly from our 80's pop, a huge plus for someone like me who was born in 1980 with two teenage aunts that listened to pop ;)

  • @durkeeinkorea If you're looking for some thing different though, my boyfriend likes this one: watch?v=fn7swmpJsQo Enjoy :D

  • I once tasted banana milk from korea, but it tasted and smell so nice....

Got to try out the fresh milk next time.

  • milk smell is normal i guess and the lady who stops front of u...hmm i don't know..sorry and shiny suits ! shiny suits = wanna be a money maker, financialy indepent, rich...and kpop ..i dont know....music hmm... sorry

  • I think K-Pop is so likeable because it's like a Vogue magazine come to life. It's glossy, full of gorgeous looking people, and although it may be trashy, it's so entertaining it becomes addictive. Plus on top of that, music is something that x boundaries. And I see KPop as something different, not mainstream pop as you see it. So in my world, it's still a subculture that I feel i'm exploring and learning about and enjoying the process :)

  • @mafiatree I totally agree. Many people dont want to admit it but a large chuck of why we love kpop so much is because it appeals to our shallow beauty loving sides. haha and yes i too am one of those kpop obessed people.

  • - Stopping in the middle of paths isn't just in Korea... I live in Singapore and it's common... :C I don't know about other Asian countries though.

  • @WesleyMLincoln yes, i totally agree, it happens a lot in Singapore... and it's bloody annoying.

  • What do they do when they stop walking? Are they on the phone or in the middle of a conversation? Or do they just stop and do nothing?

  • Ajoshi's hocking lugees at lunch, but thinking it's so rude to blow your nose anywhere near food.

  • @Arguemento kpop is like crack!!! never listen to it or you'll get hooked!!

  • I kind of don't get why all the toddlers get perms and die their hair at such a young age.

  • My wife is from the countryside and she is always stopping and turning around and bumping into people...I don't understand it either.

  • SNLK 6:20

  • About shiny suit, fabric is produced that way. Some Koreans think it's cool, but I totally agree with you it's tacky. As for blocking pathway, I often had similar experience. Koreans are basically kind and friendly people, but it seems they are kind and friendly only to their own friends and family members, and often they are very inconsiderate to other people. I don't know why; maybe because majority of them don't go to church. Actually nobody is teaching them how to behave in society.

  • i'm korean studying abroad in America. I can understand it what u are talking about since i've lived in america. i totally agree with milk, soup and coming to a sudden stop whatever. but to be honestly, there are some weird(but popular) songs in american pop and a number of americans looks sooo tacky either. and when i lived in korea, i'd barely seen koreans wearing shiny suits and i've always thought it's sooo tacky. so u can't say like "i can't get about Korea. :p

  • @Elenaesgenial Nope he's dead on. I never saw so many shiny suits in my life. Busan.

  • Hm.. What got me interested in korea was its music. Maybe its because I'm young, but actually kpop is my favorite type of music. I find some korean singers really creative, and I just LOVE their songs, even if I dont understand them ;P

  • are you talking about the shiny sweatsuits? they were popular for a while earlier this year because of the drama Secret Garden. The main character was wearing shiny sweatsuit all the time thinking he was fashionable. his girlfriend in the drama made fun of him for wearing such silly thing, but he kept saying "you don't know fashion. this is made by a famous italian fashion designer" everytime she made fun of him. the drama was so popular some people started wearing the sweatsuit from the drama

  • @p00lman umm no!

  • I'm guilty!! I'm one of those ppl that jumped on the KPOP train... I cant explain it... It did turn me into a rice chaser tho!!

  • @Sillychancy I admire your honesty. Dig deep though.... WHY?

  • @durkeeinkorea if you approach each song as a concept and treat it like anime and that the "singers" or whoever are characters, it suddenly makes sense. See: T-ara

  • @Sillychancy Rice chaser? Eeeww. Why do people come up with these?

  • @p00lman, is clearly trolling, that's neat

  • @kawaiik3iko What exactly is "Trolling"?

  • @durkeeinkorea :o it's just someone trying to get a rise out of somebody else on the internet

  • @kawaiik3iko Ahhhh... You could say that.

  • @kawaiik3iko It's called "disagreement." Get used to it.

  • @p00lman more trolling is neat! :D

  • @kawaiik3iko Seriously? Are you 13?

  • @p00lman Seriously, are you still going on about a Youtube comment. I'm done~

  • I think all milk smells weird even the milk in the states, I have to ask who ever is closet if it smells funny when I want milk. Sucks when no one is home.

  • @noealz Right on!

  • I would totally be afraid of being stabbed/poked (accidentally mind you), so I'd avoid sudden stops in crowds. Pull it over if you wanna stop, or you might get stabbed by someone carrying something sharp behind you. Of course, that's probably an extreme. Here, you might get stabbed (on purpose) if you stop short like that in a public walkway.

  • @oOKoreanWonderlandOo I don't think you'd ever get stabbed on purpose here. Luckily!

  • UGH. I hate the walk & stop thing. Definitely not just a Korean phenomenon. I attend a university in Texas, and the students in the hallways are notorious for stopping in the middle of a hallway to text, to ponder life, to look around. It's the worst!

  • @thecolonist We gotta buy tazers.

  • Most people from other countries such as the US, UK and Ireland like K-Pop because they mostly don't understand it, We just hear the noises, sounds, the beats and the incredibly cute girls. ^_^

  • LOL My first few weeks in Korea I was convinced that the store ahjumma hated me and purposely gave me spoilt milk. Actually Korea doesn't include as much lactose (type of sugar) like they do say in America. However you can buy it in powder form in Korea and add it to your milk if you absolutely have to :) I DID! Oh and for kpop I think the reason why it sticks so much to some foreigners is the branding/marketing concept is so heavily sold on which is very unlike most current American groups.

  • @ghfeguer Haha! I love ajuma stories like that. Too funny!

  • So funny! I feel sorry for you ... I am a Korean and I live here since 18 years in Germany. The Koreans simply have too little contact with foreigners. It's just almost like an island ... But how the children react to you? They cry? I'm very interested. But I have no fear you. Hahaha. You are fully ok. In Munich, even a child asked his mother about me, "What is it?". With a Bavarian accent. It was so sweet! hahaha.

  • @durkeeinkorea as for people having no common courtesy/sense and stopping/blocking others is not just a korean thing. its a human race thing. im in so cal (korean born cali raised) this happens everywhere I go. malls and public transporation mostly. I do notice its women who cause this problem the most but it is common with people of all color not just korean ajumma. at times I wish I could walk around with my arms swinging in the air just to have people avoid walking near me lol

  • @salleyROCKSit It's not universal. Durkee only mentioned the stopping thing, but people in Korea generally don't look where they're walking. The difference is that, especially in western countries, people make eye contact way before they're about to approach each other, and then adjust their positions accordingly. Not so here.

  • i'm not sure if this is the reason why the milk smells differently there, but i know that the majority of Koreans are lactose intolerant. So, the country actually does not put the lactase sugar in the milk unlike the US. I remember my aunt who is lactose intolerant telling me that she can drink the milk in Korea but not the one in the US because of the added lactase.

  • i have my theories with kpop. i think the big groups are kind of nostalgic for some foreigners seeing as they don't exist here anymore. Also in Korea as well as other Asian countries, they have appreciation for cuteness and innocence. American pop is about being sexy and self-promoting. I guess this is a put off to a lot of people. I don't look at Gaga in a meat suit and think "aw, i want to take it home." I think you would see this if you followed a specific girl group for a bit.(lol)

  • Hey Mike KPop is all about the visuals. Plus their artist connect with the fans more than in the US. Also it's a throwback to how American music once was fresh, colorful, with the costumes, dance routine..some said it was like American music during the 50's and 60's. The music scene in America has become cynical where Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift the fresh innocent faces are bashed. Kpop is pushes sexiness with an innocence. Plus visuals and styling, then talent.

  • ahaha so that's why...

my mom does that too. the sudden stopping. i thought it was just her...

  • I think the ones who dislike the video disagree with you on k pop lol... But I agree with you I just don't understand the infatuation with their music they even make the rock genre sound like pop-how is that? If i lived over there I'd listen to their reggae or old historical song since they sound nothing like pop...

  • Its not just in Seoul. I'm in Atlanta, GA and my Korean customers in the restaurant stop in the middle of the aisles too and get in the way. The old ladies will keep talking in the order line and not even acknowledge you until you bang on the counter and yell Chugio Ajooma!!(Pardon the phoenetic speling) I think its just their culture.

  • Kpop though....it's nothing like American pop. The industry is completely different. Fans have fandoms, chants, inspiration....The groups are so talented, well-rounded, and beautiful...the dances, concepts, and lyrics are completely different than that of American pop. It's just completely different, and it's artistic and inspiring. The big thing is, is that you don't need to know the language, to enjoy and feel into the music.

  • @kawaiik3iko Different =/= good.

  • I think that a lot of why K-pop is popular is because of the fact that these people (to me at least) all seem to be overflowing with personality. Western pop musicians are all so obtuse and generally shallow people, but korean ones all seem to have a story. Also, the fact that they have been brought up in a company from a young age means that they have been taught to perform better than most western artists. They all have a certain aura about them that I can't quite pinpoint.
