Always our curse. So much infighting amoungst ourselves that we allow the enemy free reign. Joe Mc Cann was one of many brave and dedicated men. They all fought for a united, socialist republic. We dishonour their names by this petty bickering. Glory to the geal.
I dont know if Joe would have joined the IRSP, we will never know. He was a true orking class hero. I used ti be so proud parading through the markets on his anniversary with Na Fianna when I was young. Beir Bua, Joe RIP.
I was reading that Christy Moore near got lynched in Belfast one night after singing this in a Provo club.
I find it hard to understand how Christy Moore,who claims to be a socialist,could give his support to the Provos who waged a sectarian war against our fellow Irishmen of the Protestant tradition.
Clearly Colonial / Imperial History is not your Forte. Didn't The Provisionals come out of the ashes of 'Bombay Street'...Airbushing History can be somewhat selfserving.. the nature ofthat despotic state was Sectarian from day one .. 'Stormont', R.U.C. @MrIrishrover2010 Glad you enjoyed it. Yes thats Joe in the photo, from the fighting in the markets. He was shot dead in 1972, aged 24. Many glorify the Provos but Joe was an anti-imperialist who stayed red and loyal to the working class. Even a UVF commander respected him as a soldier, saying "I never forgot him for his humanity." Some man, RIP to all the comrades who fell in the struggle.
@dprkspacemarine yea i know about joe my da is from the markets area and has told me all about the bold joe. it was gusty spence who whrote a letter of respect to his wife after joe had been killed. he respected joe because joe captured 3 u.v.f. members on the falls road but he released them cause they were just working class me like himself

@BYEBYE1979
I think you picked me up wrong BYEBYE1979.
I was referring to Christy Moore when i said i found it hard to understand how a so-called socialist could show support for the Provos.
I am fully aware of Joe McCann's political outlook and of the part he played in the anti-sectarian Republican struggle.UTS
