Let me just point out that I do like bad movies, they can be fun. This movie is not what I call fun. This movie is so bad; I can't stop commenting about it. To me it's like inching powder in my shirt. The story has so many coincidences it killed the feeling of reality, the acting was substandard, the villain was shallow and the heroes were jerks and morons. It was the only hero movie I wished the villain would win so there would be no more movies.

Yeah, just as soon (in the TNG era) as the Federation may possibly be opening up better diplomatic ties to the Romulan Empire, boom some new guy comes along and blows their planet up. So much for respecting established continuity. And the alternate reality is probably worse off with the destruction of Vulcan sure to weaken the Federation greatly.

what happened to romulas was that the nova that was created by the star of that galaxy, destroyed Romulus, and that is why the Romulans attacked the enterprise

In a nutshell it was a CGI-fest of weak charecter development and had so many conflicts with the real Star Trek timeline it isn't even funny.
Sheeple may like it for all the opiating CGI and brainless action, but real Trek fans know that Gene Roddenberry is rolling in his grave at this abomination-to-make-a-cheap-buck.
See another awesome fact about the Genius of J.J. Abrams, He made the new Star Trek without leaving out the older Star Trek The Next Generation and Voyager, because it perfectly reasonable that We didn't know about Romulus being destroyed, Next Generation and Voyager happen 90 years after the original and and the older Spock was from 110 years from the original, Jeez I just hope Tuvok from voyager didn't get wiped from History.
A supernova doesn't just happen. It's a very gradual process of a star running out of fuel. Whether it was Romulus' sun or another star, they would've seen it coming decades, if not centuries in advance. It's not 'perfectly reasonable' at all.
PS. I don't hate the movie, but I don't think very highly of lazy storytelling.
Not to ruin your scientific explanation (which is completely correct, by the way) but I'm sure that something triggered the supernova quicker than in nature. And if it didn't, the star could've been too far away to detect; a supernova covers an enormous amount of space.

By the timeline given by Spock Prime Nero attacked him just after Spock failed to save Romulus, so Nero didn't have time to refit his ship with state of the art military weapons before being dragged through time. They must have some mean ass rocks in the Romulan empire. .
I am not sure what number i'm on but Also, not exactly a plot hole, but how come the humans showed a Vulcan-like complete absence of emotion at the deaths of all their classmates. Kirk didn't even care that the hot green chick was apparently killed in battle! I get that technology has improved in the last lets say 150 years but to the point where a MINING ship can not just beat but overwhelm 7 Federation WAR ships at the same time? Not to mention the "47 Klingon ships" Uhura mentioned.

While I agree with most of your points about the movie, there are actually a number of Federation ships with an odd number of Nacelles (Nebula Classes had 3, for example).
To me, Scotty always seemed older than the rest of the crew anyway, so I didn't mind Simon Pegg. (Found him quite comical, actually.) My main gripe was Uhura; she was never such an entitled snot in the original series or movies.
I found Pegg to be very funny - well my friend and I lol'ed. I agree with Uhura and Spock, that was uncessary and confusing I think but I'm pretty sure it was included to dash people's expectations that Kirk would be the one doing the scoring. Nice score Spock!

Character development? WTF. There was nothing new added to any of the characters that we didn't already know. Unless Kirk being an asshole, that's new.

The movie was well executed, but the premise for Nero's anger is stupid. Spock tried to help and failed. So what? Now, if Spock saved Vulcan instead of saving Romulus...THEN Nero would have a good reason to be pissed off.

I suppose something could trigger an unexpected supernova (although I don't know what!).
A star massive enough to supernova would have a very hard time going undetected if it were at a distance close enough to ruin the Romulan's day.
Furthermore, yellow stars aren't generally the kind to supernova. That's red/blue supergiant territory.

By the timeline given by Spock Prime Nero attacked him just after Spock failed to save Romulus, so Nero didn't have time to refit his ship with state of the art military weapons before being dragged through time. They must have some mean ass rocks in the Romulan empire. .

I am not sure what number i'm on but Also, not exactly a plot hole, but how come the humans showed a Vulcan-like complete absence of emotion at the deaths of all their classmates. Kirk didn't even care that the hot green chick was apparently killed in battle! I get that technology has improved in the last lets say 150 years but to the point where a MINING ship can not just beat but overwhelm 7 Federation WAR ships at the same time? Not to mention the "47 Klingon ships" Uhura mentioned.

A. Made the enterprise retarded with a beer brewery inside... (no seals/walls in a spaceship = dead crew btw)
b. Had crocomire from SM on hoth....
c. you can't do instant conversations across a black hole
d. klingons couldnt cloak till during kirk's 5 year mission
e. kirk is implied to be an only child... when he had an older brother (though kirk could actually be the older brother in the film)

f. Nero's plot involves a miner... just a normal joe... getting borg tech... "shakes head... Bwah?!" Borg tech is hard to find/use and hella secured!
g. no consistancy in travel times... period
h. no consistancy in the use of the plot device... at all
i. black holes eat planets.. why drill a hole into it when you could pop a hole open in the upper atmosphere and do the same thing.

p. a laser like was used by the ship could kill planets anyways... it would completely destabilize the internal balances within a planet.

While I agree with most of your points about the movie, there are actually a number of Federation ships with an odd number of Nacelles (Nebula Classes had 3, for example).
To me, Scotty always seemed older than the rest of the crew anyway, so I didn't mind Simon Pegg. (Found him quite comical, actually.) My main gripe was Uhura; she was never such an entitled snot in the original series or movies.
Uhura + Spock = WTF MATE?!

I found Pegg to be very funny - well my friend and I lol'ed. I agree with Uhura and Spock, that was uncessary and confusing I think but I'm pretty sure it was included to dash people's expectations that Kirk would be the one doing the scoring. Nice score Spock!

Character development? WTF. There was nothing new added to any of the characters that we didn't already know. Unless Kirk being an asshole, that's new.
Not to mention it had a very weak story line. The biggest plot hole...why didn't Nero fly to Romulus, while in the past, and warn his government of the impending doom. And save his world and family?
Answer: can you say contrived plot.

The movie was well executed, but the premise for Nero's anger is stupid. Spock tried to help and failed. So what? Now, if Spock saved Vulcan instead of saving Romulus...THEN Nero would have a good reason to be pissed off.

It's not the best one so far. Star Trek 2 wrath of Khan is. It's a better film than I thought it would be. Eric Bana is shit! As usual he was the weakest part. I feel that based on the actors in this movie JJ may attempt to go for a series either TV of cinema, much like the old style flash gordons, frequent fuilms churned out on a regular basis

I loved the original StarTrek series, and the other more recent series. But I will say this, the movie IMO sucked. I was hoping more for a beginning of how earth came into contact with vaulkins, and started to get into space exploration. But I CAN NOT STAND the little girls and boys, that are barely able to comprehend anything talk about this movie. All I hear is, omg, he is so hot, or omg dude, she has some great ass tits.
Anyways, ok movie, but not worth buying.

well ive never really been a fan of star trek so im seeing this from a different perspective, but can you really say that it sucked? i mean it had to be one of the greatest movies ive seen in years. for someone like myself that only knew a few things like who main characters were (spock and kirk) and pretty much nothing else, the movie really didn't rely on viewers knowing anything about star trek at all. it did a job of showing the characters of vaulkins and romulans.

I know by the true definition of the word nerd, that I am one, and I would proudly say i was one IF and WHEN there comes a time when nerds and geeks aren't treated like freaks and looked down upon. When I mention that I passionately love Star Trek, Star wars & even Doctor Who, I get treated differently, and not as an equal. Did you know that people get killed for being different? For dressing out of the boundaries of conformity?
