  • to be perfectly honest a cello is a back up instrument, may as well be a drum. if it floats your boat then whats that all about?

  • I can confirm that is is a genuinely humble and nice person. I got to have a picture with him, for he knows my dad (another cellist) well.

  • i would do anything to get him to perform a piece of mine

  • A true inspiration to ALL musicians!!

  • I used to like YoYo Ma, until I learned he liked obama; just another stupid liberal that did NO research on obama...

  • the reporter (being a beginner) just played on one of the most expensive cellos in the world...I'm totally jealous.

  • i love him :D the cello is my fave instrament! i hope i can be like him when im older! :D

  • yo-yo ma needs to lose some weight. stay in shape.

  • @IsaacH1273 LOL, Yo Yo Ma is incredibly busy because as we all now, he's famous. He doesn't really have time to exercise....

  • Ma is a great musician. but can't believe that he did this for the United State's President. A politician in office. Not saying that Obama is not great. But he is the man in power. Sorry, to my ears, it is just a refined version of The Sun Rises in the East and Here Comes Chairman Mao. No matter how pleasing it is to the ear, it is an act of ass licking.

  • @wentiduo1 not really... thats like the highest honor dude. if perlman played for china it wouldnt be ass licking

  • Only My Music Can Remove The Oil in the Gulf and Save The Manatees

  • He kept playing the solo cello version of Appalachian Waltz. I love that song!!!

  • Sorry, it was newsweek...no problem. Go go go let's redistrubute that wealth.

  • Great music. Goose stepping all the way down the road to a european socialist society. Enjoy the smiles and laughter while you can. Let the transformation begin! Exactly what did Time Magazine say about this administration on the cover???? Oh yeah..."Wer'e all socialists now" Congrats Comrade.

  • Does anyone know what piece the ensemble is piece playing at the very end?

  • It sounds like Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. The clip of them playing is extremely short, so I'm not sure, but it might be the piece "Vocussion" from their album "New Impossibilities."

  • I might meet in person Yo Yo Ma and after seing this video, i'm kind of nervous now.

  • I'm jealous, I would love to meet him in person. But don't worry, he's one of the most humble musicians/performers that I have ever seen.

  • I met him for about 30 seconds backstage at a Philadelphia Orchestra concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I was standing behind him, and I didn't even have to say anything. I was so excited I could barely move. And he turned around himself and took my hand to shake it, greeting me. He's just lovely. To be able to sit down and half in depth conversations with him and even play~ It would be just unforgettable.

  • Really wonderful. Thank you.

  • Good luck!!! Yo-Yo!!!!!!

  • Don't fight on here. Obama is an amazing president, and it's a disgrace to him and our country fight over something this trivial. All it proves is that you are both either a.) Ignorant, b.) Have no self respect, or c.) Are easily angered, none of which are great accomplishments, in my humble, yet extremely accurate, opinion.

  • You can't say your opinion is humble, while saying it's "extremely accurate" in the same sentence. That would mean you aren't humble.

  • Exactly. It's my half-assed attempt at humor, i.e. a joke.

  • Mmm, greatest cellist in the world.

  • love him! LOVE HIME!!!

  • awesome!

  • That is amazing! Cellists rule!

  • nice (:

  • first post----lol pretty awesome
