Pearl...classy, elegant, gifted, and real downhome natural...all rolled in one. Miss her presence. No one's like that nowadays. Andy is just enjoying it all!
I must say...I'm a singer but I wish I could go back to these days when it seemed they had more fun, more creative freedom AND they didn't take themselves SO seriously. Everything seemed like a wonderful Jam session.
Pearl Bailey was sooo good to watch..so much fun..so much talent... This clip with Andy Williams shows a bit o her immense talent and wit. As well as his....
I know what you mean! I must have watched this video 50 times in the past year. I never get tired of it and, like you, it makes me smile every time.....
PURE CLASS!!!! look at that dress on ms. pearl classy!!!!!! no one entertains with class anymore and the few who do, well good luck finding them. great era, the best!!!
Have a' little spot in my brain. You know-----a Pearly Mae spot----Needs scrachin' everyday now. Thank God for the itch and I thank You Tube for the scratch. Oh, baby, that's it----just a' little bit to the right---AAhh!
Everyone loved Pearl Bailey. She was so magnificent, as was all of those women from that era, who possessed that natural warmth and down-home, folksy appeal that was reflected in everything they did whether it was show business or not. I miss them all.
Pearl really knew how to work her "magic"... so genuine, so natural. Andy is having the time of his life. I once read where her co-stars in any performance, never knew what she was gonna hit 'em with. She was so spontaneous and impromptu, giving them a joyous nervousness that they just laughed their way through. Pearl could take a scene to heights they hadn't imagined! She didn't need rehearsal...she was rehearsal's MAMA! Now that's what being a DIVA truly is!
Pearl Bailey is glorious. Not only is she a class act, she's fricken hilarious as well. These two are fabulous together and Andy looks so handsome :D
Look at them - Dinah Shore, Andy Williams - all unable to keep straight faces singing with Pearl Bailey. But they tried. She's just too incredibly talented and funny. She could tell a joke with a straight face and continue singing as if she never stopped, while her co-star is laughing. It's so nice to watch. Both of them are incredible!
I weep for the lack of fab entertainment like this today! Viva Andy Williams and his variety show magic! And Miss Pearlie, she's a gem indeed...thanks for sharing!
What a great performance Miss Bailey and original Andy Williams just class
