  • I must say...I'm a singer but I wish I could go back to these days when it seemed they had more fun, more creative freedom AND they didn't take themselves SO seriously. Everything seemed like a wonderful Jam session.

  • my mom and i saw her at the lakewood center(calif) may company in 1972 talking about her book'pearl's kitchen'....

  • Pearl is hilarious

  • 2:40 when Andy hits that note before he stands up, Pearl looks at him as if to say, "Man! Where did THAT come from?!"

  • I wish i was born on their generation Ella, Pearly Dinah, Andy, DSB... sigh... =(

  • Its so nice to see blacks and whites together like this in a time where racism was at its prime. Andy seems like a really cool guy.

  • Agreed. Keep in mind this clip is from Andy's show in 1963, a long time ago.

  • Have a' little spot in my brain. You know-----a Pearly Mae spot----Needs scrachin' everyday now. Thank God for the itch and I thank You Tube for the scratch. Oh, baby, that's it----just a' little bit to the right---AAhh!

  • Everyone loved Pearl Bailey. She was so magnificent, as was all of those women from that era, who possessed that natural warmth and down-home, folksy appeal that was reflected in everything they did whether it was show business or not. I miss them all.

  • Pearl really knew how to work her "magic"... so genuine, so natural. Andy is having the time of his life. I once read where her co-stars in any performance, never knew what she was gonna hit 'em with. She was so spontaneous and impromptu, giving them a joyous nervousness that they just laughed their way through. Pearl could take a scene to heights they hadn't imagined! She didn't need rehearsal...she was rehearsal's MAMA! Now that's what being a DIVA truly is!

  • Andy shines here. He was amazing. Pearl was great too!

  • Classic! Why don't they make them like this anymore?

  • Pearl Bailey is glorious. Not only is she a class act, she's fricken hilarious as well. These two are fabulous together and Andy looks so handsome :D

I think I was born in the wrong era.

IDK why but I think its so cute when Mr.Williams bites his finger at 2:16 haha, he's so cute!

  • Simply wonderful!!!

  • Andy was one of a kind. He as great. Pearl was as well.

  • Pearl Bailey was a type of person that took a song and made it her own.

  • They were so cool back then. Thanks for the upload.

  • Thanks SO much for posting this. Happy memories - great to see them both looking fab and having such a good time ;o)

  • Look at them - Dinah Shore, Andy Williams - all unable to keep straight faces singing with Pearl Bailey. But they tried. She's just too incredibly talented and funny. She could tell a joke with a straight face and continue singing as if she never stopped, while her co-star is laughing. It's so nice to watch. Both of them are incredible!

  • Her laugh at the end is priceless.

  • marvelous! does anyone have a clip of her as Dolly??

  • All the fine looking folk were back in that era. Praise the Lord for genuine talent, fun and joy like this!!

  • Amazing!

  • she is sooo funny, and i love her voice.

  • Shes just got gr8 quick wit.

    Glorious!!

  • I weep for the lack of fab entertainment like this today! Viva Andy Williams and his variety show magic! And Miss Pearlie, she's a gem indeed...thanks for sharing!

  • Something about Pearl Bailey reminds me of Patsy Cline.

  • NO ONE had her gift for patter - she could talk and then be right on beat to sing again. The lady has yet to get the accolade she deserved.

  • thats my auntie!...ive got a lot to live up to.!!

  • He was sexy as hell!

  • He sure was!

  • I love her style... Pearl Bailey was like a female Louie Armstrong... She had fun with a song without underplaying her musicality...I LOVE IT!!!

  • This was before her heart attack in 1964. Amazing footage!

  • Am I the only person who thinks he's sexy?

  • NO!!!!!!!!!

  • I never thought so way back when, but now, looking at this, I do.

  • Dont scream in my ear! Too funny. I love it. Thanks for sharing!

  • Too rich! Too rich!!!

  • pearl bailey keeps it real

  • Pearl was and is such an underated singer...she told it like it was!

  • Please more Pearly Mae history. None better. Thanks

  • I AGREE!!!

  • Whew! What a great combo! Pearl has a very strong voice and with Andy´s soft voice they match perfectly in this song =)
