  • got it on my 2nd attempt. woohoo

  • ive been trying this shit for so long that my fingers hurt already from trying to turn the damn wheel. its not working

  • @bulletz4life ok so i got one of my 3 film leaders back, in one try, im still having trouble with two cans. For some reason the leader just doesnt stick. Idk my hands hurt. fuck it

  • Dang man this is really cool. It took me a couple tries an I was going to give up, tried once more and it worked!!! My jaw was to the floor! You sir saved me some Kodak Portra (I used one of my cheap test films so it wasn't damaging to any good film)

  • got it on the 3ed, attempt saved me a roll of 36 Slide Film, Thanks!

  • when you retreive the film , how do you know if that film has actually been used ? can you see pictures on the roll when you pull it out?

  • This works! Thanks to you I could save 10 frames of Ilford HP5+! Yay! :)

  • Deadly shtuff.

  • nevermind, THANKS ^_^

  • not working :(

  • NICE! It took me three tries but I got it!

One of the coolest tricks I've ever seen on Youtube!

  • can i use this on a used film? i accidentally rewinded too much when taking out the film from my camera. does this trick damage the pictures?

  • I had to try like 5 times cause it wasn't working for me but finally it did, yay! Also, i would recommend just putting some water on the film rather than licking/spit :)

  • Lick the film ? Why not , I did it

When you are desperate you try everything

    whitout analyzing.

    BTW It worked !!!

  • Is it wrong that I actually like the taste of film? it's kinda sweet... like lead

  • @Dandelion201 haha don't taste too much of it.. i think you could get silver poisoning

  • Thanks for the tip! Sometimes I forget to leave the leader out for developing

  • it works thank you so much!!

  • tried 3 techniques, was most skeptical about yours, yours worked...nicely done.

  • @MichaelPrvt glad it worked for you, what else did you use?

  • will it just be double exposed if I already have photos on the film?

  • @1ABCNZABC1 if you pull out the leader and place the film in your camera exactly the same way (use the same start position) then yes, you can get double exposures. be careful with the amount of light though!

  • @1ABCNZABC1

If you like double exposures, an old trick that i havent heard from anyone before.

Is, if you simple hold the winder on the film. So you continue winding the film, it just scratches over the sprocket holes.

  • you rule thanks a lot!

  • thanks a lot!

  • Man, this is brilliant! Thanks so much!

  • licking the film works every time, been doing this for years

  • Where did you find out how to do this? I can't believe it actually worked! I thought I was screwed... Thanks a lot! I saved my roll.

  • i think i didn't want to shell out the money for a leader retriever and did a lot of researching online

it's not foolproof, but it has worked for me a majority of the time!

  • this trick was amazing. you are a genius.

  • glad it helps you out!

  • It worked on the second try! Thanks for posting that tip.

  • Can't believe it actually worked! :D

Thought I ruined half a good film the first time I tried it. Thanks!

  • Sorry about the ruined roll! What happened?

  • As I got to the point where you pull the two cassettes apart; I guess I was a bit too enthousiastic about that part and yanked about 2 feet of unused film out of the good roll.

I cut off the ruined film and used that to try again and this time managed to pull out the leader of the other cassette without any trouble.

  • Solaris fgPLUS. I tried again, and managed to get the leader out, by holding the film when I pulled it out.

The first time the film just stuck together and when I pulled it just all came out :/

Oh well, at least I've got an excuse to make some redscale film now! xD

Oh and by the way, might be best if you lick a finger and rub it on the film, as licking chemicals isn't really that good for you ;D

  • heh yeah, i realized that after i recorded. that's what i do, rather than licking the film

  • All this did was made the film from the other canister come all the way out.

So instead of rescuing one roll of film, I destroyed 2.

    Oh joy.

  • how did you manage to do that? what type of film were you using?

  • really cool. i hate having to open the canister when I rewind the leader in, will try!

  • i couldnt even get the film from the one with the leader into the other roll

  • nvm i got to work on a different roll, thanks a lot!

  • lick the film.......hummmm.....
