Tannerite is an oxygen robber so it will not start a fire, even after mixed it is non-flamable.. Thus almost eliminating possibilities of fires. You have a higher chance or starting a fire with your hot car exhaust than with tannerite.

Tannerite is low yield as far as being combustible. I have set off many tannerite targets from 1/2lb to 30lbs and have never had any type of fire. There are few videos that show a fireball when gasoline is set close to tannerite like in a refrigerator this is due largely to sparks created with metal striking metal and friction.

In the okc bombing mcVeigh had actylene gas bottles and det cord in with his mixture of ANFO. These also helped start the fires as well as being the initiator of the ANFO. AN and Diesel are not easy to set off and a primary is really needed for assured detonation.  I can not be detonated as easily as tannerite AL and AN.
