Guys I found the solution turn off the ps3 turn it back on but hold the power boton until it makes 3 beeps and wait and than it should say restar press it and it should start good please reply if any question thanx

all you have to do is look up ps3 recovery menu and fix it from there if nothing send it to dsony

your ps3 corrupted cus the update did not go through or completed making a hardware error.

i get close to the same thing, i get like the wave of gray that happens before the XMB loads and that just stays on the screen. any idea on what to do? i dont feel like paying ANOTHER 150 dollars ( making a total of 300 dollars in just repairs in the past half a yea. ) to fix it.

with that problem, keep restarting the ps3 until you get a message saying "there is a problem with the hdd" and then it will automatically download this thing that will try and fix it by itself.

I got this problem when firmwire 2.0 came out. I fixed it by gettin out the hdd and connected to my pc, then I format it to NTFS. When that was done I did the hdd back in my ps3 and it asked me to format the hdd.. pressed yes.. en when that was done .. the xmb came up again.. you can also try the recovery menu.. search youtube for it .. sorry for the bad english

nahh ITS ALL GOOD. pressed the little reset button on the back of the ps3 control and was able to reset it with the recovery mode.. cheers froggy ! ;)

i got the same problem after Update 2.4, luckily i had a warranty from the store so i just replaced it... but now after i updated to 2.5 it doesnt work :/ talk about horrible luck
