waste of a guppy. and i wouldn't be surprised if it was a male because he would want other males away from his females etc, and it could be a pregnant female and he is trying to mate with it and she doesn't want it and just looks like a fight. and before you call me a idiot, plattys and guppys CAN bread. have done it my self.

i used to have the same problem as you because my 2 neon blue guppies used to attack my red platy nd i know it sounds silly but i think that it is a coluor thing. :D

Ever find out why these two faught? I saw other Guppies but were there any other playts? Maybe that is why.

Maybe you should get a few more platies, too ... then there is a balance. It seems like it is the only platy in your tank and so the guppy feel like it is an intruder ... no idea ... just a guess.

the guppy would prolly win, but they cant sustain as much damage as platys do...a guppy gets bit once or twice on the body and infection would kick in...the platys for some reason can take bites better without getting a sikness.

Platies and guppies CAN"T interbreed. Just because they are both livebearers. They belong to a different genus's

I have a lot of guppies and one platty and now I have some odd looking guppy fry that are orange...

@greenbeey10 Actually, a guppy and platy can breed, but it is rare. I think that the fry would be infertile, meaning that they cannot produce offspring themselves. But I'm not sure.
