I'm fifteen, i love The Chemical Brothers. I hate the stupid music from this generation like Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black, well all that shit. If i had been lived my teenage in the 90's, that had been awesome. I'm from Colombia and in this country all my fucking generation listen many shit. I'm disappointed. Further was the most great album that i listened, later i listened Exit Planet Dust, Dig your own hole... I changed totally. Thanks to The Chemical Brothers for all the amazing music.
@TheREALDanontheMoon Surrender might be my favorite CB album, but Dig...and Exit...are the epitome of 90's electronic music. CB captured the zeitgeist of the 90's perfectly. We are the Night--not a big fan, but Furthur is goddamn amazing! The 90's can't last forever people!
My friend and I (huge chems fans) didn't think much of Surrender when it came out. Dropped some bombs and were like...eh, it's ok. Then railed some k and HOLY FUCK!!!! These guys are geniuses!!! They ain't called the chemical brothers for nothing!
this is the best album and this is the second best tune on it, next to, one to many mornings. but thats just me. i wish i could go back to the early 90s and have just one more Eeed up night of fantasy at manc Academy. those were the days my god. least this tune keeps it real for me
I'm sure that I risk getting some thumbs down by saying this, but here it goes...I love the Chemical Brothers, but I must say that they get progressively worse. This album and Dig Your Own Hole are really the only good ones and then they get progressively worse. I know they've got it in them to make killer music that compares to what they've put out in the past, but it just hasn't come out.
No one's gonna slaughter you for that. I agree with you. The first two albums seriously rocked, but the next stuff has gone worse, like I hate those tunes Galvanize and Do It Again. Come With Us and Push the Button albums still do have killer tunes, but the style is different.
@tommpson i just think they are trying to have different styles so all the people can listen to some of the chemical brothers's songs, like the band Gorillaz, they have many different styles.
@tommpson I agree with you both 102% But as musicians they need to develop. But I think the bottom line is that we guys are just getting old and conservative haha
@tommpson Or maybe you just got old ? :) I thought the same for Prodigy , only first two albums etc... It is the same with the Orbital, Leftfield, Crystal Method.... or we all got old ? :)
@verapamil07 Haha, I'm only seventeen years old so I'd consider that quite young ;) But yeah, usually some artist are at their best when they start. The Prodigy's second album is the best, Chemicals' first three are awesome and the following albums are like 50 % good, 50 % nahh. Further was kind of cool though. I hated it at first but it was definitely a grower.
@tommpson i feel it! i think that they are just trying new things, with their newest album "Further". They are only exploring with their sounds and i bet you that they will come back to Rock those Blocks with their beats. And im ready..
Well, i wouldn't say The Chems are getting worse, they are just experimenting with new stuff and sound different from Exit Planet Dust or Dig Your Own Hole era, songs like Saturate or Surface to Air are epic!
They've just drifted into different genres. That's only "worse" from your microscopic vantage point. Your opinion is ´perfectly reasonable, don't get me wrong... But it's not an objective fact. You're one listener among many, and your taste doesn't really matter to anyone but yourself. Just move on to a new band that falls within your preferred range.
"Microscopic vantage point"? Who are you to tell someone that their taste doesn't matter to anyone. If it doesn't matter to anyone why do we have conversations about music and why we do and don't like particular music. Why move on to a new band if you're just saying that you're not really into their new music. It's just an opinion that's what comments are for. But your comment is negative and is trying to put other people down.
Depressingly typical response from a member of the Twitter/Facebook generation, which hasn't yet figured out that its circle-jerking quest for self esteem is propped up by what amounts to nothing more than an attention-trading pyramid scheme. You really think strangers care about you and your opinion? Jesus Christ.
You're looking for a word other than "valid," I'm fairly sure. Unless of course you're some sort of simpleton. Any opinion is "valid." Whether it's interesting, however, is a different matter altogether. Besides, I myself have offered no opinions at all here, so the point is moot.
@pintofnewcastle Fortunately we're all entitled to free speech, but I think you're talking absolute rubbish! Have you listened to Surrender? Do tell me what's wrong with that album because it's flawless for all I know. Have you heard "Saturate", "Hoops", "The State We're In", "Surface to Air", "A Modern Midnight Conversation", "The Pills Won't Help You Now"? These pieces of music demonstrate how far Tom and Ed have come. Progressively worse you say? In what way? Elaborate please.
@pintofnewcastle I don't think that their older stuff is necessarily better, I just think that you probably have positive memories attached to the older albums, and you've gotten older since then and the crazy, epic memories are happening less frequently than they used to. The Chems really don't have a bad record... all of their stuff has been top notch, but it's all different. Their newest LP goes back to the super psychedelic shit they started with, but way better than they could do before.
So true, but Im not so sure if its that the music is getting worse, or that the style of music in general is sounding worse. Time isnt kind to all music. I think most of the Ninties music suffers from this. Not a great decade for music at all.
I dont think Exit Planet Dust would have blown many minds if it was released today.
I would only have to add the Come with Us album. Different sound, but still good. The rest are just too damn repetitive and kind of annoying. As for this tune and their other slower songs, I think they are beautiful .
I would only have to add the Come with Us album. Different sound, but still good. The rest are just too damn repetitive and kind of annoying. As for this tune and their other slower songs, I think they are beautiful .

@pintofnewcastle I wouldn't say they got "progressively worse", they just tried new sounds and styles. Different albums for different moods. If they'd done the same thing over and over, it'd get boring for us and most importantly, for them. I'm glad they're still making music, because every album has at least one absolutely perfect song on it. "Swoon" from Further, "A Modern Midnight Conversation" from We Are the Night, "Star Guitar" from Come With Us, "Let Forever Be" from Surrender.
@nekospecial This is dead on. To say one period is better than the other is pointless. Music is made in the moment with the current influences that the artist is experiencing. Personally I think Do It Again is one of the best electronic songs ever made, yet I've grown bored with a lot of their older stuff. I think they'd rather have fans appreciate them for what they're currently producing instead of being treated like robots who are expected to spit out the same 10 songs at every show.
@pintofnewcastle i think Further is also a great album and we are the night also i just think they change their way of music so it dont sound the same always (Sry for my Shitty English)
@pintofnewcastle I guess it happens to every single band in the end...they just release stuff according to their contracts with the big fish at the music industry. I'll stick to this tune
