  • It all comes back to Johnny Cash -- a true artist. He made country music enjoyable for millions of people.

  • NO Lead Belly NO Beatles- I didnt make that up George Harrison did! Go to the indiegogo site & look up leadbellyfilm

  • Not to take anything away Mr. Ledbetter, but Johnny Cash's version is my favorite. Has the most soul.

  • One of the best versions

  • Johnny Cash once said this was his favorite song to sing

  • the governer

  • lots of good singers recorded this one,but only Johnny had the voice to make it seem sincere.

  • Another awsome artist !!

    May he R.I.P

  • Goddamon I always though CCR were the creators of this song.....Jhonny Cash you are my idol what a bunch of songs that you gave to the world..your legacy is forever...

  • @ilshadat Johnny didn't write this song -.- Lead Belly did

This is just another cover of great song

  • Great Video and Song. I also have this song from my "The Sound Of Johnny Cash" 33 LP bought in 1962.

  • Sorry ,love the beach boys but!!!!!! whit this song they realy didnt do it any good cash is is the best by far ,,,...go on johnny

  • it's actually originally by lead belly, but the beach boys covered it and made it their own, along with ccr and plenty of other bands/blues fans in the 60's and 70's. great song to work with.

  • I ust love Cash!!! but this song is ccr for me..

very very strange hearing this version!!!

  • Same here, but this versio is allso quite good

  • To carper72, Yes, I too always associate this song with CCR whose version is probably among the best of this classic song.

  • als je cool bent kun je allles aan

  • The Carter Sisters version is also great! But John's is awesome, too!

  • beach boys version is also awesome

  • No version can conquer Creedence on this one, but you can't really bypass the fact that Johnny Cash does this awesome song.

  • I like CCR's version, and the Beach Boys version, and the Kingston Trio's version. The difference is, of all the people mentioned, only two of them actually ever bent over in 100F sun and picked a d*mned bale of cotton: Leadbelly and JR Cash!

  • zacharymich13 ......you are so right...creedence and Cash!!!!

  • I feel a sense of gospel in this version. Really great.

  • There's a creedence clearwater revival version too.
