So many popular athletes, thank you for sharing this upload with Armenians worldwide. We hope that they become inspired to reach the athletic heights shown in the video. Thanks again for sharing!
this video is very great but you forgot my relative. He is also a star soccer player by the name of Yura Movsisyan. Research him and see the things he has done. Thanks
Your reasoning doesn't make sense. You say that Nalbandian is armenian just because his grandfather is armenian? Both of his parents were born in Argentina, he was born in Argentina. Almost every argentine has a grandfather from a different country, that doesn't change the fact that they are argentines. In sports, and in every other aspect of his life, Nalbandian represents Argentina, not Armenia. To call him an "armenian athlete" is not only wrong, but disrespectful.
Ur right but is it right to forget about ur historic and ethnic roots and just say fuck it im this or that? my friend wherever u go it doesnt matter Argentina Armenia US China or wherever, u still cannot hide the fact of ur true ethnicity and where ur from and who u are. even if ur easily assimilated into another culture u just cannot forget ur roots. i am an Armenian living in America for almost 17 years(most of my life) but i dont forget the fact im Armenian. wut ur saying is wrong
Andre Agassi himself stated that his father was ARMENIAN. He said that during an interview with Larry King on 9/7/2006. You can read the full transcript on CNN's website. Here is what he said:
KING: The name Agassi is what derivation?
AGASSI: Armenian, so my father was from Armenia and his parents sort of settled in Tehran.
I stand corrected. Thank you for the information, I had assumed that he was Assyrian, simply because Agassi is a common last name among Iranian Assyrians.
fuck the turks that killed our beloved ancestors, these are the people that armenians are proud of cuz they show the world wat great people armenians are.
there was an Armenian that got drafted out of the city college i go to...made history by being the first to be drafted out of a city college to the MLS(soccer) team...i don't rember his name
i've met andranik eskandarian. he has a soccer shop in newjersey. i also have his autograph. i also met this goalie whose name was hubert. he and andranik played with pele and the cosmos.
HEY GOOD VIDEO , BUT YOU NEAD TOO UPDATE THIS VIDEO , WE NOW HAVE A HOCKEY (NHL) PLAYER PLAYING FOR ATLANTA TRASHERS ( ZACK BOGOSIAN ) HE WAS 3rd DRAFT PICK THIS YEAR , THIS GUY IS A FUTERE SUPER STAR.
I think this list should be at list 3..4 times longer, because most of armenians are living in Armenia and Russia (3+2 mln). But only several athlets from there presented here. But anyway let's say thanks to the guy who put all together! Good start... Thanks!
This is understandable. Author probably young American armenian and was limited in information from Armenia (may be just forgot :-) )
At least need to be added the most famouse
athlets from Armenia: Igor' Ter-Hovanessian, Yuri Vardanian, Yuri Sarkisian, boxers David Torossian, Israel Hakobkohian, olimpic champion Sirvard Emirzian..... too much to remember...
No he plays soccer now, he's scored some winning goals this year, he left Baku and refuses to be known as an azeri, he always says I'm armenian who had to get out of that azerbaijan.
You forgot about Karlo Hagverdian. The first Armenian soccer player in iranian national soccer team and twice Asian champion with iranian soccer team (1968, 1972)and with his team Esteglal Tehran and Asian game champion in Tehran (1974). You forgot about Masis Hambarsoumian, the Boxer who won the gold in the Asian games in Tehran 1974. Andranik Temourian too, who is playing for Bolton and iranian national team
You forgot about Roman Mitichyan, Artak Karapetyan , Gokor Chivichyan and many more fighters but still a great video . Many More athletes coming soon.
btw apparently David Nalbandian has said wen he was asked r u Armenian he said no people usually ask me that question because I have an "ian" in my family name (I dunno if he actually said that but anyways thatz wat I read on a site) so no reference! and it was also written about an adoption part! ANYWAYS nothing is for sure! so just wanted to know if anyone else heard about that!
David Nalbandian's family roots are originally from Armenia. His grandfather moved from Armenia to Argentina, where David's father was born. He has already confirmed being Armenian on his Dad's side (his mother is Argentinian) and he identifies with being Armenian even though he doesnt speak Armenian. It was his Armenian grandfather who built the concrete tennis court in his back yard when David was seven years old.
Yes these are all good to see, but hey hey lets keep the Turkish and Armenian hatred out of bounds. We should come together as human beings not Human shildings in other words humans hurting!!
His Armenian from only his dads side, so his half. But he doesn't speak Armenian nor has he really done anything to attach himself to his Armenian side. So its pretty safe to say his Argentinian.
Ok, I did't know he was half Armenian but here we talk abt blood heritage not what ppl do for Armenia...he still carries noble Armeian surname Nalbandyan although I am not sure if he has anything to do with famous nalbandyan after whom we have a street in Yerevan.
could be because back i don't know centuries ago Armenian last names ended in just the i (e) for example Armeni, Sarkisi and many more and Agas is an Armenian name....the i im talking about could be seen in the names of the Armenian dynasties and the names of the kingdoms were Arshaguni, Bagratuni, etc.
He is iranian born how is that armenian like the iranian weightlifter who's turkish if he is representing iran how can he be turkish! you might as well put iranian hero takhti in here and say he's armenian as well.
Why can't a successful athlete or person represent two nations? take it easy guys, just like djorkaeff and boghossian are heros in France as French footballers, Some of these guys are seen in Iran as Iranian/Armenian heros.
Let's all come together instead of creating divisions
because you're being way too annoying man i like persians i have persian friends real down ass dudes but its really simple his parents might have been from iran which makes him Persian Armenian but he's still Armenian his parents just moved to Iran probably during the genocide or something why are you going against the facts damn
That's correct, thanks Armenoaryan. Andre Agassi is an ethnic Armenian & was born in Las Vegas, Nevada - United States. His connection to Iran was his father, an ethnic Armenian Emmanuel Aghassian (known as Mike Agassi) who boxed for Iran in the Olympics.
Great video and I think we all appreciate these videos very much, bu HOW THE HELL DO YOU LEAVE OUT YOURIK VARTANYAN. Not only him but other Armenian wrestlers, boxers, and weightlifters from the Soviet-era.
its great...but you have to add ANDRANIK TEYMOURIAN of the Iran National Soccer Team (World Cup 2006- Germany)/ Bolton Wanderers!!!! He is a great athlete too!!
Andranik Teymouryan is Armeian from Iran, now playing in England.Btw, id Agassi has changed/shortened his surname Andranik has laft both typical Armenian name and Armenian surname with ending "yan"
Nice video, maybe you should add Steve Sarkisian. He coaches the qb's for no.1 ranked USC college football, played for USC in the nineties, and recently turned down the head coach position for the Oakland Raiders.
