@Xiolablu3 I wouldn't call this a documentary, its a program about the dogfight experience from particular peoples view. From the pilots recounting the events point of view they are bloodthirsty and "evil" enough to be worth killing. So in a sense it is more intellectually honest to express the dislike for the opponent than to hide it.

You mean "high-powered", meaning that it has a lot of power. Actually, although the P-51 had made over 1,700 horsepower, other planes made more. The P-47 made over 2,000hp. The P-51 was very fast, but that was because it was aerodynamic...it had less power that the P-47, but went faster. =)

Why the hell does the MiG-15 that the Sabre smokes in the beginning, like at :24 burn from the NOSE? They must use the same software for the jets as they do for the fighters, because a jet has the engine in the tail, not the nose. There's nothing in the nose of the MiG-15 TO burn. And did FW 190's have 30mm cannon? I thought it was 2x or 4x20mm, and 2x13mm MG's? And how does a formation like that shoot, or attack even? Only the front row has a field of fire, and there's no room to maneuver!
@murilospecht -Unless you know something I don't, the only Fw 190A's that had 30mm guns were ones that were retrofitted with MK108's in the field, as part of a Rüstsätze kit, (either R2 or R8, I don't remember which). They replaced the outer MG151/20's, but that's only TWO 30mm...this show makes it sound like there's FOUR on the 190's. But I DID only ask whether any 190's had 30mm's, so I guess you ARE right. A few Dora's had 30mm's too, but only a few that I know of.
@justforever96 You can't really rely on this show too much, sometimes they show some absurd things, like a guy doing a 360 flat spin with his P-51 without losing altitude, stopping in mid air, just so the enemy would pass by and he would shoot him down, seriously, also, it's too much "american ace, this, american ace that", they only show american victories, and that annoys the fuck out of me.
@murilospecht I hear you there...you'd think that they'd at LEAST have a few fights from the Battle of Britain. They show Israeli "dogfights" that probably weren't anywhere near as interesting as they make them look, but they can't show Bader capping a few Nazi's in Me109's? I guess they do show a few German and British aces from WWI, but not WWII. Of well. America is like that. It is odd that the show can be so accurate sometimes, but so wrong at others. These are easy facts to find...come on!
@murilospecht I would think most of the maneuvers are pretty accurate seeing as they interview actual pilots from that time frame and more often than not they are talking to the actual pilot who fought in that particular dogfight, I would think somebody who has flown the planes in actual combat would have a pretty good grip on what the plane can do. And the show is mostly about American aces because it is a show produced by Americans for Americans so of course they show American victories.
Im just guessing here but i think the germans flew that formation so that there own AA wont fire on them. Germans had alot of problems with friendly fire during the war especially towards the end. Anytime they see mass fighters they start shooting.

From the pilots recounting the events point of view they are bloodthirsty and "evil" enough to be worth killing. @justforever96 Yeah P51 are pretty overpowered until the 262 come into late game, but by then you run out of resources anyways. So yea P51 is pretty overpowered.

LOL, I don't think "overpowered" is the word you want..."over-powered" means that it has TOO MUCH power...but you can never have too much power. You mean "high-powered", meaning that it has a lot of power. Actually, although the P-51 had made over 1,700 horsepower, other planes made more. The P-47 made over 2,000hp. The P-51 was very fast, but that was because it was aerodynamic...it had less power that the P-47, but went faster. =)

@justforever96 No it's overpowered like Paladin until they nerfed it, so you can't bubble anymore. Seriously P-51s need to be nerfed ex-least until 1944 so Germany has a chance with me 262s. Fucking unbalanced I tell you. They need to boost Shermans too. World War 2 needs a new patch seriously.

Perhaps you were trying to say the Paladin(?)was powerful, until they "nerfed" it. If "nerfing" is BAD, then you mean that the Allies shouldn't have got the P-51 until at least 1944, so Germany could have made enough Me 262's to win the war? And the Sherman was a piece of junk, and WWII needs a new "patch"(?). O.o

Why the hell does the MiG-15 that the Sabre smokes in the beginning, like at :24 burn from the NOSE? They must use the same software for the jets as they do for the fighters, because a jet has the engine in the tail, not the nose. There's nothing in the nose of the MiG-15 TO burn. And did FW 190's have 30mm cannon? I thought it was 2x or 4x20mm, and 2x13mm MG's? And how does a formation like that shoot, or attack even? Only the front row has a field of fire, and there's no room to maneuver!

@murilospecht -Unless you know something I don't, the only Fw 190A's that had 30mm guns were ones that were retrofitted with MK108's in the field, as part of a Rüstsätze kit, (either R2 or R8, I don't remember which). They replaced the outer MG151/20's, but that's only TWO 30mm...this show makes it sound like there's FOUR on the 190's. But I DID only ask whether any 190's had 30mm's, so I guess you ARE right. A few Dora's had 30mm's too, but only a few that I know of.

@justforever96 You can't really rely on this show too much, sometimes they show some absurd things, like a guy doing a 360 flat spin with his P-51 without losing altitude, stopping in mid air, just so the enemy would pass by and he would shoot him down, seriously, also, it's too much "american ace, this, american ace that", they only show american victories, and that annoys the fuck out of me.

@murilospecht I hear you there...you'd think that they'd at LEAST have a few fights from the Battle of Britain. They show Israeli "dogfights" that probably weren't anywhere near as interesting as they make them look, but they can't show Bader capping a few Nazi's in Me109's? I guess they do show a few German and British aces from WWI, but not WWII. Of well. America is like that. It is odd that the show can be so accurate sometimes, but so wrong at others. These are easy facts to find...come on!

@murilospecht I would think most of the maneuvers are pretty accurate seeing as they interview actual pilots from that time frame and more often than not they are talking to the actual pilot who fought in that particular dogfight, I would think somebody who has flown the planes in actual combat would have a pretty good grip on what the plane can do. And the show is mostly about American aces because it is a show produced by Americans for Americans so of course they show American victories.

The checkered tail identified the fighter group that the plane belonged to. I believe that the 325th Fighter Group had the checker tail.

Im just guessing here but i think the germans flew that formation so that there own AA wont fire on them. Germans had alot of problems with friendly fire during the war especially towards the end. Anytime they see mass fighters they start shooting.

"evil" can be said to anyone from anyone. The germans thought that America and Britian where evil. The Chinese were japans supposed "sworn enemies", and vice versa. We all love to chose sides in a conflict that was 60 years ago, but we both know both sides did some pretty bad things, but what we do know is focus on our enemies atrousities [spelling?] and failures, you dont see a lot of tv history channel shows about the hiroshima bombings do you? But they love to show you the holocoust.

@NewYorkComedian That's because the Holocaust cost 6,000,000 lives and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is estimated to have saved approximately 17,000,000 lives and prevented the extermination of the Japanese race. Kind of hard to compare them that way, isn't it.

@cpdusmcdst9- what a horrible event to bring up... more civilians died in dresden than nagasaki or hiroshima's nuclear bombs.... out of the whole war that is the one mission that should of nvr happened...BUT it was a deal made with the russians...it was the russians at a allied meeting who set up this bombing in preparation for their advancing ground forces...
the worst part is it had NO military importance or factories, just civilians unlike hiroshima nagasaki... so pick up a book urself

And you do realize that pilots back then had RESPECT for eachother right? It has been known for Spitfires to escort damaged ME-109s home and vice versa.
