though I doubt if Spit would have achieved this

with so many Germans on ground patrol

they call it artistic license in filming.

A really great film and it was nominated for an Oscar...

but that was the year that stupid Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon movie won every thing.

Really great movie - subtitled version is available - Great story based on history - worth seeing - really great flying scenes - one of the best WW2 flying movies even with a small budget

Good flying scenes of Spitfires. Love the Merlin engine. Didn't konw Czech pilots flew with the RAF.

Best pilot was Josef Frantisek - czech, flying with polish squadron in RAF. Battle of Britain was only a few days, not all the time, as people think.

Josef Frantisek scored 17+1 kills between 2.9.1940 - 30.9.1940. Died when his Hawker Hurricane Mk.I (definitively worse plane than BF109E) crashed by return from a patrol flight. He did not sleep over 3 days - because of lack of pilots for worse part of BB. Probably died because of deadly exhaustion - from 72 hours he was 61 in the air.

German has best pilots of the war - but BoB was really short time and statistics speaks clearly - best was Josef Frantisek. No doubt about german superiority, though. I speak only about BoB which by history stats I read and believe was only a few weeks.

I think BoB is from July to October.

After BoF, Galland had 14 kills, during september, he scored his 40th kill. And I don't think he scored much between BoF and BoB campaigns (it's about two weeks).

In that case I correct myself - that would mean Josef Frantisek was best only on RAF side...but we have to take in mind, that german pilots had enough rest (at least enough not to die from exhastion).

I am not trying to build a hero, I just think he was. Maybe he could live some time and do not score any other kill, maybe he could best anyone else...who knows.

it is a known fact that a few shots from another movie were used, because of the lack of both money and usable vehicles (airplanes in a flyable condition). The movie wasnt Battle of Britain, but Memphis Belle (1990).

Find subtitles - english name is "Darkblue world". Its worth I think, if you are not looking only for action - this movie was more about history and what czech pilots get, when they returned to country they lay their lifes for...
