They Pay $2.00 above minimum wage to start, they do not allow you to work off clock, nobody gives out free medical coverage get used to it you have to pay for it anywhere now a days, policy is for the 2 PAID 15 min breaks they give us 2 hrs into our shift and 6 hrs into our shift if we are interrupted by an employee or customer start your PAID break over again. I'm 18 and i love working there, a union protects bad employees i would not like to see it happen.

Don't blame WalMart for the USA having a low minimum wage. Also, don't blame them for the gov't not requiring employers to give at least a week of Vacation and/or Sick Leave per year. Gov't doesn't require employers to give any benefits beyond breaks and minimum wages. WalMart's not the problem. USA's weak protection of our nation's downtrodden is the problem. Honor Labor!!!

Old issues here. Wal mart no longer makes anyone work off the clock because they were sued. i just got hired by Wal mart. We can be fired for working and not reporting the time.

If your really willing to work under those conditions then I do not see why you havent found a job yet there are lots of meager jobs out there take McDonalds or Home Depot for instance. Now if you lack education or experience that is another matter entirely.

Well to be frank you dont have much choice since you are just out of HS you have to take a low paying no benefits job just because you need the work experience but if you want to really do something with you life...

Go to College! Because with only a HS diploma there is only so much you can realistically make in todays job market.

It's kind of ironic about the city im in. A few years about a non union grocery store comes in the town & people picket. Walmart who has been in here a lot longer & never once a picketer ever.They don't like competition

Forget the UNION speech. As an employee of a grocery store I had to join the Union. They claimed to be 'on my side'. wrong !! all they did was take 1/3 of my paycheck monthly. When they striked (which I never approved of) the workers were on the streets with NO pay, while the UNION Exec's made speeches --being paid full salary. Think about it. Don't wonder why there are so few 'full-time' jobs with full benefits--UNIONS took care of that. Businesses can't afford Union people and live

Unions like any other institution are subject to corruption if left unchecked by their members.

Now if we lived in a society without labor unions here is what you have:

A 6-7 day work week

Low minimum wage

NO health or disability benefits

Extended hours

Work off the clock

Even more illegal immigrants being hired to undercut American workers

without labor unions and the labor movement. America would be no better then Mexico. The labor movement raised out standard of living.

What Union is this?! Because if your union lets you work without a contract, without benefits, turns a blind eye to illegal immigrants taking your hours and permits you to be required to work for free off the clock then they are not living up to thier obligation as a labor union.

we should find a way to put walmart in their place. So they will no they are not so big. Fisrt step in by not renewing you sam's card or getting a refund. Secound is to close you walmart credit. Third find another place to shop. Fourth start a union and last sue them for any wrong they do to break up the foundation of their legal system even if you lose. They can't handle millions of law suit a month.

Much more easier said then done. Walmart has effectively created a monopoly of labor in small towns. When walmart is one of the only source of labor within range of your home your options become limited. And because of walmarts presence smaller businesses are rooted out and therefore the ability to work elsewhere is severely hindered.

How? Just think it through... In many small american towns Walmart is the only place people can and do shop at. Because: Its close by(not alot of gas to get there) and its prices. As a result any stores in proximity to walmart can seldom compete so they are pushed out, closed down, or small business owners dont open up. Thereby giving walmart a virtual monopoly of labor/customers in said small town.

I refuse to even set foot in a walmart parking lot. Their glorified spreaders of cultural death stripping every populations ability to sustain themselves, based on class. Look up where the money goes after it goes into the owners pockets- directly to political campaigns in the USA (of one party in particular). None of my business, but it wasn't surprising.

I had PDF files of their political contributions at one point but the info is out there for certain (I would hope). The head-office folks at walmart make scandalous amounts of coin. 12m+ sometimes annually.
