Where Roman Nose a Cheyenne Indian died im not sure if he was really a chief but the books I have read about Roman Nose say he was a chief. The Native Americans have something that the modern man needs deeply; A true respect for nature and ALL that it is. If people would only listen some to the voices lost in the past, we can build a better future. a lot of ancient peoples died off because of abuse of the land, this occured in Chaco Canyon with the Anasazi Indians and among the Maya Indians but there are many other examples as well. I live on the Eastern Plains I am about 20 miles from Beecher Island. Where Roman Nose a Cheyenne Indian died im not sure if he was really a chief but the books I have read about Roman Nose say he was a chief. It is said that the spirit of his war bonnet floats mystically over the Island. I am ashamed of what my ancestors have done to your land and I am sorry. Long live Roman Nose!!!! I type in traditional native american music, and i get hundreds of links yet only 5 or 10 are probably really "traditional" the rest have synth added to them... really its just a "modern remix" of the songs.... it sucks :(

If people would only listen some to the voices lost in the past, we can build a better future. a lot of ancient peoples died off because of abuse of the land, this occured in Chaco Canyon with the Anasazi Indians and among the Maya Indians but there are many other examples as well. Also archaeologists are finding out that the "native american indians" were not the first peoples here and that they more than likely killed off those peoples who came from western europe and possibly Polynesians from the pacific islands. Indians also burned land for buffalo & deer to graze not unlike cows....

@meengreens ...destruction isn't the holding of any single race...even native american tribes such as the commanche, blackfoot and the apache were cruel and could be seen as evil in the ways in which they tortured other enemy tribes. There is no first people as each tribe saw themselves as the first people and went to war with other tribes. if we let go we let go of who we are it wasnt our way to raise hell we fought to keep our identity and way we are the only people in america who have to still prove who we are today,we know who we are..and if we forget we forget our ancestors who fought for us so we can still have our drum,bits of our language,our regalia,our identity and since they did we still know who we are and is moving forward bc we wasnt never like white hollywood portrayed us as evil villians now world see the truth..

I have a great grandparent on both my mother's and my father's side of my family who was full blooded Native American or First Nation. Imagine how I feel?!?!?! Part of me is grateful for the freedom this country meant to my white ancestors and part of me feels down right sick over what the white people did to my Native ancestors!!!!

I'm white, but I have Chippewa indian in me. And just because ppl's decendants did it, doesn't mean that they have the same beliefs. You are who you are, not who your decendants were. Thats like saying you hate germans because SOME Germans were Nazis. And that German ppl NOW are horrible because their decendants did it. Now, if the person acted like, persay, a nazi now, Thats different. Don't judge people for what their decendants were, Judge ppl for who they are NOW.

@nera789 no offense but looking at the amount of wars and invasions, i don't see much difference between the (not all but most) white americans of yesterday and those of today. The war mongering habit has been very consistent throughout the history of america and still is as strong as ever today.
