That thing is insane with power. Its amazing how powerful it is. Stock for stock 350 will destroy it in twisties and gto will get it in the straight. It all depends on what you want.

hmm. well if from a 50 roll, and its an 07, why were you in 3rd gear? drop it to 2nd which will reach 75mph, then shift into third. driver error a bit id say. the goat would not have walked you that bad then. Ive driven both, choose the Z due to the goat beign a pig in the corners. Though its got back seats like you would not beleive. amazing. skinny little tires too for so much torque.
Just for posterity, 350z is rated at 306hp and 268 tq at the flywheel. That equates to about 260ish hp at the wheels and 230ish torque. The LS2 05/06 GTO's are rated at 400 hp and 400 tq at the flywheel. That makes for about 340ish rwhp and 320-330ish torque. Big advantage over the 350Z even though it is considerably lighter than the GTO (2 seater).
yeah gtos are fast. not gonna lie. but ive been smoked on a roll by them and ive also smoked them off the line. mod for mod i think they are pretty equal. besides being a couple liters less and 2 cylinders.
i own a 350z and i test drove a GTO, but it was only the LS1. either way, the GTO was mean. i had my buddies with me on the test drive and put it in 2nd gear in town and got on it and even my neck snapped back cause of the torque, and i was ready for it! but i dont' think i would sacrifice the handling the Z has, over the power of the GTO. some people might not care about having good handling, but after driving the Z first, then the GTO, it makes a world of a difference.
in my opinion both cars ran good but. I dont think there is anythign to argue about. the gto might have mroe hp than the 350z but the Z has the weight difference in its favor.

Good run. I know a guy that was on the GTO forums that also ran a 13.1. Def good drivers. The usual I see for 350zs is low 14s. As far as the i/h/e GTO, I ran a 12.3 cam only with a slipping clutch.
14s is maybe for the DE 350a the 03-06 models which are the 280 some hp version the 2007-2008 models are a lot different, 306 hp versions, The HR Z is a lot different from the DE and very similar to the V HR ( 370z) obviously a little slower but a preplan if you would like to say.

05-06 gtos run mid 13's and with a good driver low 13's, so your talkin 04 gto with the ls1 wich only has 350hp. So I would imagine tha you would beat a Ls1 gto you alot lighter with 280hp or if you have a 07 or newer z 306 hp.
how come at the drag strip the GTO's have a hard time makin it out of the low 14's but there were plenty of us in Z's makin it into the the low 13's?

make sure u are talking about the right GTO, the LS1 GTOs were not very quick the LS2s on the other hand are to to be played with, from a roll they can run with 03-04 cobras
its because the gto's can only fit a 245 wide rear tire stock without rolling the fenders.... and we have a bad independent rear suspension setup that makes it hard to get a good 60ft time on street tires, and prone to mass amounts of wheelhop unless you have drag bags etc.
and if the gto drivers cant get out of the 14's they cant drive their cars the right way

Because GTO's have alot of weight to get off the line. But there horsepower level makes them fast up top. Same reason why a Bentley Continental GT with 600hp does the quarter in just under 13seconds yet can go 205mph.

The 350z in this video has fujita intakes and a top speed n1 exhaust. Bone stock 07-08 350z's come with 265 to the wheel's. Fujita Intakes have been proven to lose horsepower due to heat soak from the engine bay, the top speed N1 Exhaust add's a couple horsepower along with the gutted cats.

Now you do the power to weight ratio and tell me a 311whp car weighing 500 lbs less is going to lose to a 345whp car.
Also the 325hp car mentioned in the video is a bone stock VQ35HR. I'm assuming this video was recorded in UAE because they rate the horsepower of their cars at the engine, not at the crank, therefore the 07/08 350z's come labeled at 325hp. That Z in the video is making around 265whp, of course it's gonna get walked

The LS2 GTO trapped 107.7 in one mag & trapped 108- in the other magazine I have. It would be a much closer race but, the GTO should win depending on traction & the driver mod. That new 370Z is really nice though. I actually like it alot. They did a nice job with that car =)

07 350z 1/4 mile is about 14 seconds , how ever a 07 gtp runs 13.8 but im sure he has a older one like a 98 which runs about mid 14's , but on the highway the 350z track ed. or w/e it is , is slow from like 50-100+. i think the lastone i raced was a 03 6 speed track.

A GTP will not run 13.8 unless modify, I drive one and is not that fast, my friend race a 350z, I was there and the GTP was no match. GTP will run about 15sec 1/4 mile

dude the newer z'a have gone high 12's stock also, the older ones high 13's stock. this video states its a 07 which has the capability to run high 12's so no, and also if you take a 03-06 with intkae, exhaust, pullies, port and polished like you stated you are gonna be close to 12's, my z has cai, nismo cat-back exhaust, plenum spacer, lightweight flywheel and act clutch and i went 13.1 on my 19's. i am going powerlab gt-35r turbo over winter and forged bottom end and run some boost on the pig.

Thats like an extra passenger or a skinny driver vs a heavy driver with 1/4 tank of gas more..thats the weight diff. The 350z is getting high 13's (13.7 best iv seen) and the gto is pulling easy 13.0 (12.7 bone stock fastest iv seen).Its a whole second quicker in the 1/4 mile which means at least 8 car lengths ahead. plus the gto traps at higher speeds so its murder on the highway.
The 3580lbs is what the 2007 Converitble 350z curb weight is, the coupe weighs in just under 3400lbs. The previous models with less hp weighed around 3200lbs.
Now that the newer 350Zs have a little more hp they can contend with stock LS1s (in the GTO that is- Camaro/Trans Ams still spank them) instead of barely running with LT1s.

I'm just talking from experience, the only 350z my bolt-on LT1 Camaro has lost to was a turbo'd 350z (this one was driven by a know nothing kid with daddy's money). Otherwise they've all been walked, the only newer 350z I've raced was a convertible and the owner was a jerk, couldn't stand losing to some dirty Camaro- flipped me off after I passed him.
the Z's actually weigh(depending on the model, between 3340-3470lbs) if they were like what I said in the first comment, bout 200 lbs less, like they should be, I would of bought that over my g35, but I do love my g35.
i really like the ls2 gtos, but what dissapoints me is the fact that they're so heavy and they only put out around 330whp the ls1's put out a little less then 300. I would think that with the mods that 350z had and the gto only had exhaust, it shoulda been about even if not the Z a little faster. 350Z's are heavy for a sports car, but the gto is even more heavier. between 3-400lbs difference. so it's a big difference, even tho the Z should weigh only round 31-3200lbs......
It all comes down to power to weight ratio. 2007 350Z: Weight: 3,339lbs Horsepower: 306 Power to Weight = 10.9 lbs per 1 horsepower. 2006 GTO: Weight: 3,725lbs Horsepower: 400 Power to Weight = 9.3 lbs per 1 horsepower These results are stock vs stock. These numbers dont lie. It all comes down to this. Driver ability does make a difference but numbers dont lie about which car is faster.
It really comes down to torque pushing a car that is moving that is how u accel. The 350 z would need to put out 60 more horses to really play. better chance from a dig

All things being equal, yes the '07 Z has a small edge. Try not to hate to much because I'm a Z owner. The GTO is a great machine, but add up power/weight plus gearing and the Z really does have a small edge on the 1/4 mile. Go past that and the GTO will walk the Z.
oh by the way yes maybe now i do beleive you about getting betten by that much with the gto, cus i raced one on the freeway from 80mph roll up to 130, iwas infront of him up to 125 then he was very very very slowly catching up but he never edge me out, he was half a car behind me the hole time then traffic hit and we had to stop. we racced about 5 time same results every time he never passed me but i have to admit they are fast@

05-06 gtos run mid 13's and with a good driver low 13's, so your talkin 04 gto with the ls1 wich only has 350hp. So I would imagine tha you would beat a Ls1 gto you alot lighter with 280hp or if you have a 07 or newer z 306 hp.

make sure u are talking about the right GTO, the LS1 GTOs were not very quick the LS2s on the other hand are to to be played with, from a roll they can run with 03-04 cobras

its because the gto's can only fit a 245 wide rear tire stock without rolling the fenders.... and we have a bad independent rear suspension setup that makes it hard to get a good 60ft time on street tires, and prone to mass amounts of wheelhop unless you have drag bags etc.
and if the gto drivers cant get out of the 14's they cant drive their cars the right way

Because GTO's have alot of weight to get off the line. But there horsepower level makes them fast up top. Same reason why a Bentley Continental GT with 600hp does the quarter in just under 13seconds yet can go 205mph.

The 350z in this video has fujita intakes and a top speed n1 exhaust. Bone stock 07-08 350z's come with 265 to the wheel's. Fujita Intakes have been proven to lose horsepower due to heat soak from the engine bay, the top speed N1 Exhaust add's a couple horsepower along with the gutted cats.

wow. i see a lot of pride clouding judgments. the gto does create about 400 to the crank but looses almost 50 hp by the time it hits the road. my uncle has the 06 and he dyno'd it and cam out 361. did some checking on the boards and that seems about right.

You are nuts if you think the GTO is losing 75 to the wheels... I would guess it's running 360 to the wheels... and with the oodles of torque it's enough to put away a 311WHP 350Z... even if there is a 500 pound difference.

Rear wheel drive cars lose an average of 18-20% drivetrain loss in horsepower to the rear wheels, therefore it is making about 345 to the wheels, if the GTO is automatic, then it's losing even more power.
Now you do the power to weight ratio and tell me a 311whp car weighing 500 lbs less is going to lose to a 345whp car.

Also the 325hp car mentioned in the video is a bone stock VQ35HR. I'm assuming this video was recorded in UAE because they rate the horsepower of their cars at the engine, not at the crank, therefore the 07/08 350z's come labeled at 325hp. That Z in the video is making around 265whp, of course it's gonna get walked

You are very ignorant savage, the '05-'06 GTO has 400hp & tq. The GTO is doing about 330 to the wheels, weighs 3,725lbs. which makes 9.3lbs. per hp! Also, stock for stock when a GTO hits the 1/4 vs the 350z look at the difference in mph! There's even a video on here pf a stock LS1 WS-6 T/A spanking a modded 350z, the car is not fast and has "no" torque... just my 1/2 cent!

Well this is just from magazines but, the new 370Z trapped 105.7 in the 1/4 mile...That's the only test I've seen so far. The LS2 GTO trapped 107.7 in one mag & trapped 108- in the other magazine I have. It would be a much closer race but, the GTO should win depending on traction & the driver mod. That new 370Z is really nice though. I actually like it alot. They did a nice job with that car =)

07 350z 1/4 mile is about 14 seconds , how ever a 07 gtp runs 13.8 but im sure he has a older one like a 98 which runs about mid 14's , but on the highway the 350z track ed. or w/e it is , is slow from like 50-100+. i think the lastone i raced was a 03 6 speed track.

A GTP will not run 13.8 unless modify, I drive one and is not that fast, my friend race a 350z, I was there and the GTP was no match. GTP will run about 15sec 1/4 mile

dude the newer z'a have gone high 12's stock also, the older ones high 13's stock. this video states its a 07 which has the capability to run high 12's so no, and also if you take a 03-06 with intkae, exhaust, pullies, port and polished like you stated you are gonna be close to 12's, my z has cai, nismo cat-back exhaust, plenum spacer, lightweight flywheel and act clutch and i went 13.1 on my 19's. i am going powerlab gt-35r turbo over winter and forged bottom end and run some boost on the pig.

The gto can do circles around that little v6.
The higher the speeds get, the further away the gto will get. It has 400ft lbs of torque. Do you know what that means against a little 350z especially on the highway?!

Oh you know? Maybe you should go back to school.What power to weight ratio? 350z is 3580 lbs and the gto is 3780. Thats like an extra passenger or a skinny driver vs a heavy driver with 1/4 tank of gas more..thats the weight diff. The 350z is getting high 13's (13.7 best iv seen) and the gto is pulling easy 13.0 (12.7 bone stock fastest iv seen).Its a whole second quicker in the 1/4 mile which means at least 8 car lengths ahead. plus the gto traps at higher speeds so its murder on the highway.

The 3580lbs is what the 2007 Converitble 350z curb weight is, the coupe weighs in just under 3400lbs. The previous models with less hp weighed around 3200lbs.
Now that the newer 350Zs have a little more hp they can contend with stock LS1s (in the GTO that is- Camaro/Trans Ams still spank them) instead of barely running with LT1s.

I'm just talking from experience, the only 350z my bolt-on LT1 Camaro has lost to was a turbo'd 350z (this one was driven by a know nothing kid with daddy's money). Otherwise they've all been walked, the only newer 350z I've raced was a convertible and the owner was a jerk, couldn't stand losing to some dirty Camaro- flipped me off after I passed him.

i really like the ls2 gtos, but what dissapoints me is the fact that they're so heavy and they only put out around 330whp the ls1's put out a little less then 300. I would think that with the mods that 350z had and the gto only had exhaust, it shoulda been about even if not the Z a little faster. 350Z's are heavy for a sports car, but the gto is even more heavier. between 3-400lbs difference. so it's a big difference, even tho the Z should weigh only round 31-3200lbs......

All things being equal, yes the '07 Z has a small edge. Try not to hate to much because I'm a Z owner. The GTO is a great machine, but add up power/weight plus gearing and the Z really does have a small edge on the 1/4 mile. Go past that and the GTO will walk the Z.

oh by the way yes maybe now i do beleive you about getting betten by that much with the gto, cus i raced one on the freeway from 80mph roll up to 130, iwas infront of him up to 125 then he was very very very slowly catching up but he never edge me out, he was half a car behind me the hole time then traffic hit and we had to stop. we racced about 5 time same results every time he never passed me but i have to admit they are fast@
