Amahl and the night visitors - Jeff Butler - Baritone Opera

Nice job. I would like to know how old Jeff Butler was at the time of this performance and if he has any more recent recordings. I would love to see how his voice may have grown. The stylization at the end of the piece was disappointing but at least not overdone or Menotti would be horrified.

Watch the video with Giorgio Tozzi as Melchior. It's probably the best you'll ever hear. The video he was in is not in the best shape, because of recording methods of the 1950's, but Tozzi's voice is so commanding and yet so filled with compassion. Great stuff. I would like to hear Jeff Butler do this in a better recording environment. He and the piano sound like they're in a little box. RVP57 should show a little sympathy - after all, how much did he pay to see this?

Patricia Neway won a Tony as the original Mother Abyss in The Sound of Music on Broadway and then gained a lot of notariety when she starred as Magda Sorell in Menotti's "The Consul" on Broadway.
