  • Cool. once I master this I plan on etching runes with a dremel out of the polished stones I find along the rivers and streams here. Calligraphy seems to help a bit so far :)

  • Thank you for sharing. I just bought a beginers little came with a small ink stick and a brush hat was about maybe 4 inches long. But I had to get it to try it out. Found your vid here and well wish me luck I have to try this thank you

  • why does this sound like someone like you? :P

  • Thx for share.

    All the best!

  • Thank you for sharing, I will share with others.

  • YOUR A NERD!

  • @brownkv081 Whos the nerd: a woman practicing chinese calligraphy or a retard screaming at someone they dont know that there a nerd?

  • @killer8479394 YOU'RE THE NERD!

  • I'm sorry ... I was looking up english calligraphy.

  • How does autocorrect work with Calligraphy?

  • I'm learning kanji (up to 820 so far) and I like writing them, so I wanted to learn calligraphy too. This is a helpful video.

It helps that I already know how to write them with correct stroke order with a pen, now I need to learn how to write them with a brush and make them look good. :)

  • question, which is better, ink stick with slate, or just premade ink?

  • @applejaksenpai Hi, in my lowly opinion, both ways are great. Ink stick is the traditional way; it is quite time consuming, but you have better control of the ink consistency/thickness and the process is can be quite therapeutic and "ceremonial". I actually prefer using premade ink, especially when I am stressed for time and want to quickly practise calligraphy for 10 - 15 minutes.

  • @szevone Thanks, I think I'll try both. Great video by the way.

  • can you do Basis characters?

  • @Jerome123435 Yes, I have uploaded a new tutorial video on "numbers". Its teaches relatively simple character/kanji, so do have a look.

  • is this Japanese Calligraphy? I'm doing a project on Japanese Calligraphy and I need to know please

  • @annekcmrox Yes, they are Chinese characters which the Japanese use and call kanji.

  • I agree, you have a pretty smile. Cursive is being phased out of US schools. Apparently, neat handwriting is not a skill anymore. I disagree with outcome-based education as opposed to generating an interest in learning and self-improvement.

  • Who would require the services of a calligrapher nowadays when you can type it in perfect font on a computer?

  • @kotapaka

Try and get a computer to write the megsage in the book of rememberence at your local crematorium.

And it would never look as beatiful knowing it was done by a machine.......

  • Great video, you are very cute and helpful.

  • Luv this vid ^_^ (plus it is spelt "practice" not "practise")

  • @Kat10652 not in the UK, it isn't.

  • @FooBarr1 Both spellings are correct in British and American English. Just choose your preferred one and be consistent.

  • I need the name of this song. @_@
