  • It saddens me to see classical music on it's way out -demographically. All the musicians are in the 20s or 30s while the audience is invariably made up of a handful of retirees. Where is tomorrows audience? Unless each of us who value this contemporary "experimental" music actively promote it while we are still alive, there will be no future audience, and then classical music really will be a thing of the past.

  • Bravo! Cheers from Brazil

  • I was at this performance at Ozawa Hall that day. You and the other musicians did a superb job.

  • WTF IS THIS?!

  • Here's my word to describe this elaborate work: STARTLING!!! In the most positive sense of the word of course!!

  • this is very hard to listen to

  • @dubwesa it's actually one of his most listenable pieces!

  • Thank you, Alex!

  • Hey! Coletti here, I would love to download some of the other pieces from that concert as well! Do you have any idea how he did it? THanks for posting this!

  • sweet

  • Yes, I would love to know that also.

Wonderful piece, wonderful performance. Elliott Carter is a genius in the truest sense of the word, and we're lucky to blessed with his music.

  • A friend of mine is one of the developers for Microsoft Silverlight, a Flash competitor. I pointed him to the link on the BSO site, and in a minute or so he was able not only to download the entire embedded .flv file, but edit it down to just the Luimen for me as well. This fellow, I don't need to say, is a pretty smart fellow.

  • Thank you musicsignifica and TheBlackPage1 for the kind words, I often feel blessed to not only be able to play this incredible music, but to share it with such exceptional musicians.

  • Thanks so much for posting. This was a historic week. Incidentally, what program did you use to capture the feed from Tanglewood?

  • Absolutely wonderful and great to play it in presence of the composer.

  • Thank you, Tom! I have played this piece for Mr. Carter many times now, and it is always an honor.
