Also they are the same species (canis lupus, and canis lupus domesticus). But when you look at a wolf, a real wolf theres no mistaking it for a dog of any breed. @strides1000 That is a malamute, not a husky. A husky is a medium sized working dog with a more dense stiffer coat, they average 45-65 or so pounds unless overweight. A malamute on the otherhand is a large freight hauling dog with its color and pattern matching on its skin. The ears are spaced much wider, the head is different shaped. A mal grows from 75-well over 100 lbs, no mistaking adults. The mals coat is less dense, softer, and typically longer.

I have to side with wolfdogfostermom. His ears, skull, feet, and chest all SCREAM malamute. Even the coat calls it out. I see no husky in this dog. Another thing that makes me highly doubt a husky mix is his size (in comparison to his neighbor there). The dog looks like a purebred (chunky) malamute.

I think this is a malamute because wolves have longer legs and aren't as sturdy. They are meant to hunt elk, bison, etc. So that's why they have long legs, unlike a malamute who has sturdier legs for hauling heavy loads, not for running.
