7:36 on Nurburgring....with 360hp and room for 4 passengers and their luggage. Just shows you how much potential BMW's have if you tune them only for performance, without comfort or refinement in mind, like some do today just to show off their lap time while in reality car sucks on real roads. (khm khm...cadillac)
@Andre20021982 There are certainly times when what's under the hood sounds better than what's on the stereo. I won't argue with that. That's true even with my 540i 6-speed manual.
75 grand just on options? fuck that, my R32 RB20 Skyline (not a GTR) GTST cost 4 grand. It weighs less and can do at least 250kmh. It has brembo GTR brakes as standard. (It's a M-spec) Replacements parts are cheap as chips. Low insurance cost. 22 years old and it can still compete with todays cars. That tells you Nissan knew what they were doing when they made it. Even still, a GTR is only 20 grand over here in NZ. Longs story short, I'll take my 4 grand Skyline over a 100 plus grand beamer
My old Nissan Maxima with factory Bose system was waaaaaayy better than my E46 330Ci with Harman Kardon with *2 subwoofers* on the rear deck. No subs on the Nissan.
That's just the stereo, the Nissan was crap to drive. Loved my old BMW 3.
im sorry, but with the 75 000 dollars in just options, i could build a mustang or camaro that would put the bmw to shame, im not tryin to offend anyone or what not, im jus sayin 75 000 dollars could be put to way better use
@jelzin1985 not exactly...it comes from the front, the great sound in the csl is the sound of the big Air-Box that comes stock.. and the exhaust just adding to this great sound...
this cars is isnane, i love it, even though, i'll only afford it if i'll join russian mafia or become a lawyer after finishing my 3rd year at law in uni LOL.
No matter what you say. I don't like that kind of transmission. I've never driven it in a powerfull car but in cars with a smaller engine it is just horrorfull (for example in a Smart). If you wanna start, the rpm gets higher and higher and at one go the clutch connects the engine with the transmission. There's nothing better then the usual manual transmission. I wanna drive the car by myselt and don't wanna let the car do everything by itself.
You must have never driven the M3 with SMG aggresively on a twisty road. They are spectacular. I've never driven the V10 M5-M6 with the same system (but with 7 speeds), but with 500 hp and 500 ft/lb torque they must be spectacular! Of course SMG will be shelved in favor of dual clutch transmissions, which all the high performance cars will be using, or already are. If you have driven a GT-R (I have several times) you would quickly realize how they transform the car...
I know how they work. It is actually a manual transmission but it has a shift box on it to change the gears and to actuate the clutch. That is the kind of transmission I don't like. I worked in an Opel-garage during my appranticeship and you can get the same kind of transmission in a "Corsa" but I also drove it in a "Smart". With small engines that transmission is very hard to drive cause you can not controll the clutch.
The fact that many people don't know how to control the clutch or purposely destroy it and then claim that it failed and should be warranty repaired are exactly the reasons the vehicle manufacturers want to leave them behind, and the fact that the performance numbers are lower with a conventional manual as compared to SMG or Dual clutch. They also leave complaints about synchronizer roughness (usually again from user induced damage) behind. The conventional clutch is going the way of the Dodo...
That is funny cause Opel calls it "Easy-tronic". We had some old customers who were not able to drive it cause they won't understand that it is not a usuall automatic-transmission and still has a clutch.
Maybe in the USA but not in Germany. Most cars have it here cause everyone in Germany can drive it. You already learn it in driving school. So there will always be convetional clutch arrangements. Just moving the feed from the brake to the gas pedal and moving the steering weel is not driving to me. It's just boring.

An SMG is an automatic transmission too STUPID!!! The driver doesn't shift himself. He just gives the order and then the controll unit gives a signal to the transmission. It has a planetary gear like every other automatic transmission too.
SMG stands for Sequential MANUAL Gearbox! So it's technically a Manual but with an automatic clutch operation controlled by the paddles. Listen how sharply it changes gear.

@Ivannos92
25K and there not carbon? 380m/m is actually adding quite a lot of unsprung weight over the standard CSL brakes
4272005 5 months ago 2
@4272005 Look at the upload date. At the time, carbon brakes were only on a handful of cars.

Is not!!! SMG is a Sequential Gearbox.
An Automatic Gearbox has an automatic
transformer,that the smg don`t have.
This is the reason why you hear at the fastest
gearshifts the clutch crashes because its that fast.
