Forget cm9 get a hacked Mac lion mobile from the pirate bay works great and does not have many bugs. You need to be "computer minded" to do this to ur kindle fire. Also when you hav lion on your fire you have a tool that boast the processor to speeds of Intel atom 2.
I found that the latest release of CM9 seems to work better than the previous releases. The scrolling is a little laggy and obviously no video makes it not so great for an everyday tablet.
The CM7 version of the Kindle App seems to work better than the CM9. The margins are normal on the CM7.
Also on CM9 the way you can lay out widgets and apps on the homescreen does not work as well. It's too restrictive and won't let you place them all the way at the top or bottom.
@Morrison0420 That is because of the resolution settings... i used a DPI changer from the android market to make the dpi a little smaller... i could live with 120 dpi, which allows a lot of flexibility when it comes to widgets on the home screen... but it's my girlfriend's kindle fire, and she finds the text and buttons to be too small lol...
You could try a 140 dpi which is right in the middle of the default 160, and the smallish 120... hope all this made sense lol... continued>
@x0xHellzSpawnx0x Yeah that makes sense and is something i will try next time i flash the CM9 ROM. RIght now it just has too many little issues that I want working before I will leave it on there for everyday use.
@Morrison0420 as for the video, yeah, no hardware acceleration is a bummer, but i can still watch regular youtube videos. What doesn't work is HD video.
I also recommend installing MXPlayer, which allows for software decoding of videos...Not as good, but it works for me.
I can't wait until they fix the video issue completely. Then i'll buy one for myself and remove all traces of the stock amazon OS (with a backup on my pc of course lol never know what might happen).
I have an issue installing this CyanogenMod9 it does not let me use it because it says: Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped > when i press ok it pops up again and the cicle repeats. What should I do?
which is more stable? miui 4.0 or cm9 4.0?

Nice, descriptive review and having a Kindle Fire myself, I can say that this is very accurate.
I do prefer the stock Kindle Fire OS however.

Do you find yourself missing any of the default amazon functionality after switching to CM9? How easy is it to go back to stock?
