  • There really isn't linear' or circular salsa, etc. A good dancer is adaptable and accomodates to the available dance floor.

Some places are so crowded that even a slot is not perfectly manageable. More often than not, others are passing through or into your slot, new couples are coming on the floor, at least one couple is dancing recklessly. You are always on the lookout for this. It is simply not safe to follow a 'precise line'.

  • Its not bad technique. The dance can and very often does deviate away from a precise line. however, when dancing on a crowded floor, the leader must be sure that he will not cause a collision with nearby couples when moving out of the slot.

  • Linear salsa is supposed to keep the follower on a line. She is being pulled off her line in this demo. As I understand it, this result of bad technique. The leader should be stepping off her line more cleanly.
