Comic Con 2011: Mike Patton Talks About The Darkness 2

I don't get everybodies problem with The Darkness 2, it isn't meant to be the same sort of experience as the first game. The Darkness was an open ended horror shooter with an emphasis on dark atmosphere, The Darkness 2 is a linear more traditional arcade shooter with an emphasis on speed and brutality. Yeah sure the story and character weren't as complex and interesting but on the other hand the gameplay was fluent and functional. They are both excellent games in their own right.

I HOPE that they do, that would be great, assuming it wasn't made by Uwe Boll, but otherwise I'm not exactly expecting it.

First clip of mike i've ever seen where he's starting to look his age. Or maybe he had a rough night. Darkness was ok. Combat was too samey, and it lacked depth. Hopefully two will rectify these issues.

Its still early in the planning stages from what they told me. Meaning that they probably won't officially get started on it until sometime late next year (which would be this year now) and we probably won't hear about it officially until the following year. But yeah I am hoping :D

@LangostaProductions I really don't want to be the party pooper here, but Silvestri's trying to pitch a Darkness-Film to the big studios as early as 1999. In all honesty, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high unless it's 100% confirmed by both Top Cow "and" the studio that's going to make it. And even then it's going to be interesting to see if it even gets past it's pre-production state.

@LangostaProductions I'm not too sure if I even need a film-adaption. The first game was not just "as close as it gets", it even surpassed it by delivering an interactive storytelling experience that's something else. I'd even go so far and say that there are some aspects to it, which are "better" than the book. I can't see how a film could "not" just deliver a watered-down version of the story. I have to agree with Alan Moore's opinion that cinema is "not" the superior medium to comics.
