i hope people realize that without horse slaughter there would be no horse market. we would have millions of horses dying and rotting or living in places without enough room for their entire lives. they dont suffer, its a quick shot to the head and theyre gone before they realize whats happening if its done right. making these animals sufer is wrong, yes, but people already complain about stray dogs, can you imagine stray horses?

@TheKrazyCowgurl usually it takes very very long for the horse to die, one shot almost never finishes the job, i remember a cow we had once two and they decided to "put it down" took 6 shots the the forehead before they just left it to die which took over an hour, and stray? all animals should be stray its life, yes it can suck or it can be great just like life, an animal doesnt need to be owned to deserve the right to live

IF its done RIGHT its quick. theres no room for them to be stray anymore, humans have taken it all away from them, some of them would end up in great places but the majority would end up in places where they didnt have any room to live right, theyd just be sick and miserable. id prefer death to living like that.

@TheKrazyCowgurl It's not the person that uses the gun it's the gun itself. They use a captive bolt to temporarily knock the horse unconcious then bleed them out. The captive bolt really shouldn't be used for horses at all, because more than half the time it doesn't work - a horses brain is too far back in the skull for that damn thing to work right.

Guys, think about this! Do you even know what slaughter is? Slaughter is mostly because owners of horses have very old and sick horses that the old horses develope themselves! And the owners have no choice but to slaughter because letting a horse suffer from an illness is wrong! Well, some people don't eat horses. it goes to the dog food. I think, since dogs already eat dead stuff, that the horse should either be dead already, foundered(I know what it means just it's pronounced differently around me), tendons broke(some race horses get this and they can't walk ever again), or can't be saved(already dying). But seriously, if you have a beautiful, healthy horse and can't feed it; don't take it to the sales or slaughter house. Give it to someone with many horses already.
