I always thought Bowser got the shell move from Pokemon Stadium 2. When Blatoise does Rapid Spin, he goes into his shell and flys up and it does they same exact noise when Bowser does it.

I think that comes from Super Mario 64 in the second Bowser battle when you get to far away from Bowser he dashes after you and then "slides" into you if you don´t Jump ^^

I think the ^ B was from Simcity. When there was a Bowser disaster, Bowser would appear and destroy your town. When he goes across water, he spins in his shell to move.
