@jackyfussel There are 7 "masters" who are able to summon a "servant. They have to battle eachother and actually kill eachother. The final victor wins the "holy grail" who will make whatever wish they have come true. This also counts for servants. It is defently a show you should watch. There is also a movie but watch the show because the movie is a alternate story that you will not understand unless u watched the serie.

The fights are less believable than those in Fighting-Shounen. Seriously, why is that teacher guy all that strong, despite the fact that he's just a normal guy with no magic whatsoever? Why does Emiya suddenly become strong, just because he's able to conjure some swords?

Another problem with this series is that it seems to be made for those who have already read the VN. Lots of things are simply left out

@QHoratiusF actually the fights are probably more believable it makes more sense since besides the teacher and emiya no one else can match the servants and in fate emiya doesn't even become that strong. The backstory to some of the minor charectors may be a problem but there's never a anime/manga that explains every charector. And i've seen alot of those shounen mangas those are extremely predictable and boring after a while. Plus i've seen the Vn version of fate not that much change.

@Stephon9015: Lots of reasons. Given, animations and music are rather good, despite the fact that I don't like the first OP and neither of the EDs.

But the rest is just bad. It's got characters that are either generic, like Illyasviel, or extremely annying, like Emiya. The concept is generic, too.

The idea of having mythical heroes fight against one another was interesting, in fact it was what made me watch this series, but in the end all these heroes got in common with the actual heroes

@hinata2785 It's about a competition known as the holy grail wars. A battle fought between 7 magi ( Magic users) and there summoned servants. There are 7 classes of servants and each magi summons one servant. The classes are saber, archer, rider, lancer, berserker, assassin and caster. The pairs then fight to obtain the holy grail by killing off the competition. The holy grail can the grant the wish of the pair who win.

I just finished the anime, and I was confused by some things...so I went to read some stuff on wikipedia and found out about a lot of stuff from the sound novel. I still wasn't sure about a couple of things though.

Why couldn't Saber stay with Shiro at the end of the series? Was it because by destroying the Holy Grail that time, it would be destroyed forever?

Also, was it ever implied that Sakura was Rider's original master, or was that storyline completely dropped?

@LucidDivinity There's two reasons she couldn't stay. The first was because neither Shirou or Saber wanted the Grail or the wish it could grant after finding out what it really is. The second is because Shirou is a terrible mage. Servants can stay after the Grail is destroyed or used up, as long as the Master is able to provide enough mana to keep the Servant in the present, and Shirou was simply unable to give that to Saber.

@LucidDivinity Shiro cound´t give Saber enought mana to stay in this world, and about the sakura history line (Heaven´s Feel that is the name of the ARC) they cut a lot of the story in the anime, my advice is that if you want to enjoy the real storyline you should read the Visual novel, is a shame that you already have watched the anime since is really bad in comparision to the VN. @mohedd lol the scene whit the dragon. i forgot lol. The grail was the energy source for the servants avatar to exist. The mana from the magi was only to operate in the war. Without the grail Akasha will crush the contradiction in just a sec. But it is stated that a servant can stay in the world after the war like for exp Archer Gilgamesh since it has the freedom of action hability ( or something like that) and in UBW arc rin gets to keep saber in the end so you may be right.

Meh; at least the visual novel offers you the good ending in Unlimited Blade Works route. Saber gets to stay because of Tohsaka still has her command spells and provides prana. Only downside is if you're a Shiro&Saber fan, Shiro has to directly provide spiritual energy to Tohsaka. But of course, Shiro could always just directly provide spiritual energy to Saber. *Cough* Harem ending; but I don't have any complaints about that since Saber stays.

Fate Stay Night is a very good anime. Even though I also like Inuyasha, Inuyasha sucks compared to this. In my opinion, King Arthur COULD have been a girl. It was a hella long time ago and as time goes by, people change stories to make it sound more believable and fitting.

Id have to say that the visual novel version is much better especially if you can get a version with a voicover patch, since it keeps the same oice artists as the anime.

Also, depending on your pace, it lasts at least twice as long as the anime, and it gets into more of the backstory and everything

It's much deeper and much more mature than Inuyasha, in my opinion at least.

People say the anime is "okay", but all will say the original visual novels are better.

The game is actually more than 3 times longer than the anime, as it's 3 "routes".

Also beware that the original game is 18+, meaning yes, expect explicit material if you play it.

The anime substitutes the explicit material for other things, which I find to be silly, but w/e.

Note: The anime changes/misses many things.
