this was one of anette's first performances with nightwish..i didn't want to go to that show because i was thinking that it's not worth it without tarja and i didn't know how anette was like..

I prefer Anette to Tarja. while the latter had excellent vocal control, Anette's voice is much prettier to my ears. Plus, she does that sexy hip-wiggling thing in some songs. ;)
Though Anette did a commendable job here, I'm kind of dissapointed because she brought the whole vocal wailing that is done with every female pop singer out there and what I mean about that is the vocal cries that are done by the likes of Whitney Houston and the Aguilera crowd of singers. What I liked about Tarja was that she knew when to take a back seat and not add too much flavor to the vocals.
It's called emotion, and apparently some people are so listening to Tarja's vocal monotone they've forgotten what it sounded like. I just can't go back to the album version after hearing this live with Anette, the vocals just sound so flat by comparison.
I saw both "Old" and "New" NightWish formation, and in my opinion Annet Live is better than Tarja couse she communicates way better with the audience, and her performence was solid, only one vocal mistake (in the concert i was)
Ofc that we are used to that Sweet voice of Tarja, that made NightWish =)
But Annet is different just that, both good but different =)
I personally think anette does this song here closer to the way tarja did it on the album than tarja does it live... I don't know what it is but she always seems to fall short live, and anette is pretty much dead on.
I'd rather Anette. She has more powerful voice. But I don't day that Tarja was bad. No way! She was great singer and she has beautiful voice too. But Anette sounds better here and in other songs.
I think we can now say they are Symphonic rock now. their latest CD did'nt have any roots of Power metal, although i will give them another chance. Plus Anette is fuckin hot :]
i think she haven't had enough time to learn the songs perfectly and i won't comply, since nightwish is best with a female singer. not saying the songs were him with the bass (can't remember the name right now)sing, sucks.
Unfortunately, all Nightwish live videos since Anette is here don´t have a good quality, I love the DPP songs, and I wouldn´t make a criticize of her in live because the sound of the recordings is awful.
As much as I love Tarja, and I keep hoping she will come back, but she won't, Anette is really talented singer in her own right. She's different and NW has been in the same direction for 9 or 10 years, bands need to re-invent themselves to keep the hits coming. I don't think her voice is pop, besides..there are so many bands that sound too similar..why would you want other bands to have similar sound singers? That to me, is no fun at all. Variety is the spice of life! And Anette is variety!

Tarja didn't care about the band as a whole anymore so while they told her to leave it was fairly mutual. She's touring her solo album now. Leave Anette alone already

I've seen the video. I saw them live three days ago. And Tarja was only taken out because she was getting bitchy and planning to leave anyway. I'm sorry but I think annette is a lot better singer than Tarja. Tarja is a definitely talented, but i kinda think she's boring. Annette sings with fire, which matches Marco's style a lot better (especially in terms of this song). Plus, she uses more interesting vocal melodies than tarja's legato, slow vibrito faux opera stuff. I think it was a change for the better.

Let's see you do better and these aren't Tarja's songs, they're Nightwish's songs. Tuomas, Marco, Emppu, Jukka and Anette are a part of the band and they decide who sings the song and whatnot.
BTW, Anette and Tarja have their own styles. Both styles rock!

i didn't like their virsion of Phantom of the Opera at all, Tarja sounded like a wounded kitten at the end of the song while trying to reach the high notes.
This song was written for Sarah Brightman and to Sarah Brightman only sweet heart, so she's the only one who can perfectly reach every single note this song has, don't go blaming Tarja just because you don't like her
Any professional opera singer can sing Phantom of the Opera, not only Sarah Brightman. Tarja is not a professional opera singer thus she cannot do the song as well as an opera singer. I might not liker her, which i've never mentioned (I do think she sounds good on a CD), but i don't need a written permission to express my opinion.

Let's see you do better and these aren't Tarja's songs, they're Nightwish's songs. Tuomas, Marco, Emppu, Jukka and Anette are a part of the band and they decide who sings the song and whatnot.
BTW, Anette and Tarja have their own styles. Both styles rock!

Bueno si anette fuera mala. Nightwish no llenaria estadios o demas lugares donde la banda toca. Asi que es mejor que acepten que anette es muy buena cantante. Puede que Tarja sea muy excelente, eso nadie se lo quita, de hecho nightwish me gusto por su gran voz.. Pero anette es increible, nada mas escuchenla detenidamente. No me canso de repetir Bye bye beautiful o Amaranth o The poet and the pendulum las veces que sea (que aveces son 5 veces la misma cancion jeje).

Any professional opera singer can sing Phantom of the Opera, not only Sarah Brightman. Tarja is not a professional opera singer thus she cannot do the song as well as an opera singer. I might not liker her, which i've never mentioned (I do think she sounds good on a CD), but i don't need a written permission to express my opinion.
