Okay really guys? I used to love Goldeneye, and still regard it highly, but it's a gameplay relic with lots of problematic mechanics that you all would hate if it were in any other game today. I heard that Nintendo, after hearing that they were to get the original while Microsoft got the updated version, told Activision (who own the rights to the Bond name etc) that if they allowed Microsoft to release this then Nintendo would never release another Activision game on the Nintendo platforms. It seems that Activision cancelled the release of one game (albeit an incredible game) for the rest of it's future catalogue. Just a business decision I guess?

Virtual Console pickings aren't exactly all that robust and Goldeneye 64 would've been a great addition to both systems' online stores. I'm pretty sure the Wii could easily handle the Xbox Live version, too, since it's 2 generations beyond the original system.
@PerseusLP If you're referring to Gamecube going to Wii, it's still quite a bit stronger even if it's not up to par with the Ps3 and 360. Developers just happen to be lazy. Besides, you're missing the point of my post. I'm pretty sure the Wii can handle a graphically upgraded Goldeneye 64, especially since it'll be using N64-old AI so the processor won't be close to strained.

The game got canned because Microsoft wanted the game for their format way ahead of Nintendo. Nintendo wanted a simultaneous release, but MS didn't accept that.
Also I believe that this game was canned right around the time Activision got the Bond license.
Nintendo have repeatedly stated that they want GE on the Wii, but Microsoft dictated some unfair terms.

This is one of those game that needs to be released on XBLA. Perfect Dark was one of them too. Another one I would love to have is a XBLA remake of PSX's Clock Tower. That would be sweet. A re-release of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect would be nice too.
I'm still pretty content with TimeSplitters future perfect. That game is the gift that keeps on giving. Think of it like the MGS substance games. Mini games, missions, tons of things to do once you beat the campaign part of the game. The people that stayed at RARE are a bunch of hacks. The true Golden Eye team has always been FREERADICAL. U can do any of this stuff with rice even the faces, the guns, and the body's of the people and you can Put the Fps on top Just like This. Actually most of the people who were "Team Golderneye" for Rareware back in the day currently work for a studio that is a child company of Crytek working on an unknown project. Back in those days programming made games, these days, art, gameplay and storylines make games, because most game engines now are built by giant programming thinktanks then bought by publishers so their child development studios can tinker with them. Few studios build their own engines now such Bungie, Valve, Crytek.

Was made by rare for Nintendo, but Rare have been bought by Micro$oft and now James Bond license has been bought by someone else (EA if I remember well).
Aside from the B button if you stop just before he starts the Xbox 360 Start button is there, also, many sites have a confirmed screenshot of the Complex level
BTW this is not a 360 version of the game. It's probably just an emulator on pc or something.

@svdlmf sure, it is (barely) more powerfull than an Xbox, but that is an old-gen console. so compared with the current gen consoles, it is extremely underpowered and not to mention tehnologically inferior. and I'm not just talking about lack of HD! even if it could render games in HD, the graphics would still suck bigtime as the higher resolution would only make the fuzzy textures and lack of detail more obvious !

The game got canned because Microsoft wanted the game for their format way ahead of Nintendo. Nintendo wanted a simultaneous release, but MS didn't accept that.
Also I believe that this game was canned right around the time Activision got the Bond license.
Nintendo have repeatedly stated that they want GE on the Wii, but Microsoft dictated some unfair terms.

My only guess would be that Nintendo isn't stupid, they know that MS will profit a lot more from this because, although the WIi outsells the Xbox360 with console sales...the LIVE service has a lot more users than Nintendo online users.
Since this will be a downloadable game, 360 will gain its ground more than Nintendo.
I could totally be wrong, they could just be assholes, who knows :)

This is one of those game that needs to be released on XBLA. Perfect Dark was one of them too. Another one I would love to have is a XBLA remake of PSX's Clock Tower. That would be sweet. A re-release of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect would be nice too.

I'm still pretty content with TimeSplitters future perfect. That game is the gift that keeps on giving. Think of it like the MGS substance games. Mini games, missions, tons of things to do once you beat the campaign part of the game. The people that stayed at RARE are a bunch of hacks. The true Golden Eye team has always been FREERADICAL. Which now they work for Cytek. Which Crytek now works for EA. I understand that TimeSplitters 4 is being worked on now. Laters Moderwarfare-BITCH!!

U can do any of this stuff with rice even the faces, the guns, and the body's of the people and you can Put the Fps on top Just like This. Well if you ask me, it should be the original team brought together to remake Goldeneye (Hollis, doak etc). The new Rare programmers are not that great and have a habbit of completely ruining classic games with so called 'improvements' - I want to see the Goldeneye 64 team - not some NEWBIE TOSSPOTS AT MICRORARE taking credit for their work. Actually most of the people who were "Team Golderneye" for Rareware back in the day currently work for a studio that is a child company of Crytek working on an unknown project. Back in those days programming made games, these days, art, gameplay and storylines make games, because most game engines now are built by giant programming thinktanks then bought by publishers so their child development studios can tinker with them. Few studios build their own engines now such Bungie, Valve, Crytek.

Was made by rare for Nintendo, but Rare have been bought by Micro$oft and now James Bond license has been bought by someone else (EA if I remember well).
Remaking that game would be a juridical pit.
