must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to
With regard to the comment on getting a /good/ recording, rather than the camera one, you should see what a shoe-string this is done on. Logically, it would be nice to tape direct to avoid the muddiness of the camera microphone. :-)
Isn't there someway to tap into all those wires coming out of the mike and guitar to allow a direct recording instead of the camera mike method? In any event I enjoyed the song as usual.
Yeah, there should be a way to do that... but I'm afraid that might involve shelling out a little dough for some better equipment. ;-) Glad you enjoyed the song!
It needn't cost a whole lot more. Even a good cassette recording coming from an extra set of mixer outs will sound considerably better than a cam mix. Just bring the sound recording into your NLE as a wave file and line the track's waveform up with your cam's sound track visually. Piece of cake. I do it all the time except I record to a HD instead of a cassette.
That's true... although I don't have a portable cassette recorder! Threw that out with the 90s! ;-) I could always do a line out of the mixer into my audio/digital interface into my computer. Lining up the sound file with the video is easy enough, although sometimes YT's compression causes it to get out of sync upon upload.
Thanks for the suggestions! Maybe if I get myself organized next time around I try it! :)
Just wanted to mention that I've also had problems with sync in the past at YT. The only way I've found that works well is to go into Windows Movie Maker with a DV-AVI file that has a 16/44.1 sound. Then use WMM to output a wmv file for uploading at YT. That will stay in sync pretty well and will sound good too. WMM doesn't like any sound that isn't 16/44.1 though, and DV-AVI files are the only ones it will keep in sync after uploading. (Yeah, there's got to be a better way).
Get one, you absolutely won't be sorry. Take a look at the difference it made for Ysabellabrave; she has done some fantastic work since she got a Mac. PS, I tried to send an e-mail note about some technical suggestions, but I need an friend invite before the message can be sent.
If you look at a video by FlyingHorseKnuckles called Fair Dinkum - in STEREO (original song by Jon Shelton) the description explains how to convert any video clip into an FLV format. This allows stereo playback on you yt, seems to fix the sync issue, gives a much louder sound, and it pre-compresses the file making it faster to upload.
If you need more cash post more songs on Amie Street, I've got $8.90 my account waiting for new releases.
Great to see you out playing and get that response we'd like to be able to give you here on the tube but we've just got these quiet comments, very cool tune, really dig your lyrics, it would be interesting to see a vid on your writing process
Hmm... a vid of my writing process... well, I'd have to have the camera ready at 2 am for those "aha" moments, when a song idea pops into my head and I can't sleep! I always keep paper and a pen handy so I can write it down (hopefully legibly!) and work on it later.
what can I say?I'm a music geek. love to play, write, listen, record and it's cool to learn other peoples creative processes, like I have a little digital recorder that I always have in my pocket, a live "aha" moment would be cool but even just a deconstruction saying what came first music or words, what inspired it, what influences you felt played strongly into it, maybe I'll post something and see if I can get responses, FlyingHorseKnuckles and many others would be also be interesting too
So now I can add 'showmanship' and 'stage presence' to the list of musical talents for one Leesha Harvey. - And personally, I LIKED the camera-work in early moments. Gave it a cinema verite feel. XD - But to be totally honest, though I LOVE the name of the venue, its acoustics for recording sound may not be the best. It was hard for me to make out all the lyrics. =(
Yes, the acoustics in there aren't the greatest, and not just for recording. That's the only bad thing about that venue; otherwise, it has great ambience!
I'm not sure exactly when my CD will come out--hopefully in June or July, but don't pin me down on that! I'm going to record in May if all goes as planned.
It's great to watch you performing live. You have a natural persona on stage reflected by the audience's enthusiasm. Great song! I like the transition back to a minor key right after the chorus. Wonderful rhyming schemes - always pertinent, never contrived! Can't wait for your CD! Much love, ~Jon
Ha, ha, yes indeed! There actually was a tripod, but he had to change the tape and try to get the camera back on the tripod while trying to run sound at the same time... hence the few moments of the rollercoaster! Once it was back on the tripod, it stabilized!
Thanks! I haven't been performing much with guitar and my original stuff, but I have performed a lot on piano and have done a lot of community theater, so that might explain my ease on stage (although I was stinkin' nervous!). :D
Not sure... the sound isn't the greatest. There's a lot of noise from the espresso machine during the other songs I wanted to post! (Qwrrrrrr, ssss, tttttchoooo, and so on...not sure how you write that sound, but you get the idea!)

Awesome performance and great song I could almost imagine a violin playing a melody behind voice as you sing.
ourmathew 4 years ago
Every guitar playing alone is lonely for a violin for company. It's like eating cookies with no milk.

Ha! I like that. :)

I try to compensate via harmonica....though it's no violin, I admit.
